"Is there something wrong?" Sophie asked, uncomfortable under Jasmine's sharp gaze.
"Mother, is there something I don't know?" She asked. "How can you see the door?"
"I don't know either. It's just… there." Sophie averted her gaze.
Jasmine sucked in a breath. She didn't want to make things difficult for her mother but she couldn't help frowning. "You never keep things from me and Dahlia, mother. I hope it remains that way."
"What are the two of you talking about?" Harry couldn't make head or tail of whatever argument was about to unfold between his wife and daughter.
"I don't want to go." Jasmine closed her eyes with a soft sigh. She was helpless as it felt more real now that reality had sunk in. She had missed her family but what was the point of coming back if she was going to leave again? And who knew when she would return?
"It's gone." Sophie suddenly gasped. When Jasmine looked back, she realized that the door was no longer there.
What just happened?
_____
Dairon's library.
"What's wrong with you lately?" Sinos, Dairon's friend, glared at Dairon who looked pale. It was as though he was ill. As a demigod, how could he not take care of himself?
He was about to scold him when he came to a realization. He was yet to see the girl who was said to need his help. "Where is that human female you talked about—the one you said needed answers about herself?"
"She left." Dairon sounded lifeless.
It explained why he looked like he had lost part of his life. Was he really in love with that human? Something had to be done about her, Sinos mentally decided.
"How did she leave? Did you let her go?" He hoped so, but Dairon shook his head much to his disappointment.
"I'll show you." Dairon stood and headed for the door. Sinos could only follow him down the hallways until they arrived in Jasmine's room.
Sinos was in shock at the mess in the room but what shocked him even more was, "She unlocked the portal?!"
"I didn't think she would be able to do that." Dairon had to admit.
"That's not the point. She summoned Narilia. She freaking summoned Narilia!" Sinos freaked out.
"What about it?" Dairon found him annoying, especially since he was in a bad mood.
"Narilia is the fourth of the four. She is a demoness." Sinos reminded, as though it was something he should be afraid of.
On the contrary, Dairon frowned and huffed. "Narilia is dead. She merely summoned her power and she could have done so accidentally without knowing what she was doing." He reasoned. Jasmine was a human—at least for now. She had grown up in the human world. There was no way she would know about a dead demoness, much less how to summon her power.
"Call her back. Get her back whichever way is possible." Sinos ordered.
"Why would I force her?" Dairon crossed his arms. Although he missed her and wanted her back, he knew that she would only hate him more if he forced her back.
Sinos gritted his teeth at his friend's nonchalance. "She is a danger to the human world. You know what that means to our kind."
Dairon ignored him, so he used his own way.
"Call her back." He ordered the door, which then opened on the other side. He expected to see Jasmine step through it in a few seconds but to his disbelief, it remained open for a while before it closed on its own.
"I can't believe it." Just what was she? She was definitely not human.
"She will come back when she feels like it." Dairon dismissed. He looked at the shards of the mirror that Jasmine broke before leaving. He had left them in their original position for them to reassemble. However, it seemed like things didn't work out the way they did with the mirror she broke in Maximus' changing cubicle. He didn't know what caused the difference. He would have asked Sinos since he was a god of wisdom, but the latter was fuming in rage and seemed to have something against Jasmine.
"I'll permanently seal the portal. It doesn't work anymore after all. I will go to the human world later. If she is willing to come back, I will bring her with me." He announced. "For the record, I don't think she is a threat to the human realm or any realm in general." He added and bent to pick a shard.
He withdrew his hand when he felt a sharp current jolt up his hand but it was too late. His body felt numb, rendering him weak as he fell on his knees.
"Dairon!" Sinos quickly ran to him and tried to help him up, only for the latter to cough out mouthfuls of blood.
"It's the rebound." He muttered, and shook the shard out of Dairon's bleeding hand.
Dairon steadied his breath and stood up, feeling less pain.
"All the more reasons why I should seal the portal." He declared as though he had come to a realization.
"Stay away from it!" Sinos warned, but it was too late as Dairon had already touched the frame. "Are you crazy?" He exploded when Dairon broke into a worse coughing fit.
"I'm alright." He smiled.
"Of course you are. You are coughing blood! This is why you should stay away from demons." Sinos insisted.
"She is…" The rest of his words were cut off as he fell onto the floor, passing out.
