"I take this as you agreeing to spend some time at the grand Enchanted Library?" He smiled when he realized that she had not turned down the idea. Was she in a specifically good mood today? If she was and it was the reason why she was unusually friendly to him, he should do his best to keep her in a good mood at all times. Unfortunately, her mood was more unpredictable than the weather in the human realm.

"I'll just have a word with Rosetta then we can go." She gave him a heads up and rushed to the kitchen where Rosetta was cleaning the surfaces.

She looked startled to see her. "Lady Jasmine!" Her voice sounded nervous too.

Jasmine was amused for a moment before she figured it out. Word had spread that she was in fact a demigoddess and this had scared off the maid who was previously close to her.

She took the few steps that covered the distance between them and smiled. "Rosetta, I'm still the old Jasmine you knew. Please don't be scared of me."

Rosetta was afraid because she was a demigoddess. Demideities and humans would never be on the same page. When Jasmine read this from her mind, she smiled helplessly. "I don't have any friends in this realm aside from you and Maximus. If you become distant, I will be sad."

She didn't sound sad in the slightest and was being dramatic about it, but Rosetta jolted. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you feel that way."

Jasmine smiled. "Dairon and I are going to the Enchanted Library. I wanted to ask you to accompany us but you will probably be nervous all the way. Let's go for a swim tomorrow, okay?" She gave the latter time to prepare herself mentally.

"Uhm...okay. Have a nice day with Master Dairon!"

Jasmine felt something was odd with the way she said it. Not figuring out what was odd, she went back to Dairon who was waiting for her.

The walk to the Enchanted Library was mostly quiet with her letting her mind run wild. The last time they were in that building, she sent an entire pillar tumbling down without knowing that it was her doing. What if she tore down the whole building this time?

"Don't worry, what happened before will not happen again." He smiled down at her in reassurance. "You are more in control of your power now."

"I guess so?" At least she could retract a flame. Nothing could go wrong, right?

He knew what she was thinking, it was obvious from the way she viciously cracked her knuckles. He took her hand so she wouldn't accidentally hurt her fingers. "Just don't freak out if it gets out of control. It does happen sometimes."

"Has it ever happened to you?" She asked out of curiosity, and to find something—or someone—she could relate to.

"Yeah." He nodded. He wasn't planning to say more but when he met her gaze that asked for explanation, he couldn't ignore her.

"My hands are not clean, Jasmine. I'm afraid you would be scared of me."

"It's not like mine are the cleanest." She countered.

He slowed down and asked the question that popped up. "What if they were?"

"Hmm?" She looked at him.

"What if your hands were clean and mine were not? If I made selfish decisions that cost the lives of a few boys, would you despise me?" He asked more directly. If she was going to hate him again, it was better if she did so now rather than later.

"No." She shook her head and looked up at him. "I would never despise you for things you did because you felt trapped."

They were both shocked by her words. How did she know he made those decisions because he felt trapped?

She was the first to snap out of it. "Dairon, I realized I can somewhat read minds. I'm not sure, it's just… sort of guessing what the other person is thinking and being right about it and it's creeping me out in a way." First it was Sinos, then Blaze and Rosetta, and now it was Dairon.

"Why would it creep you out?" Shouldn't it make her happy?

"Maybe because it sounds strange?" She blinked.

"Most deities can do it." He answered, making her slightly relieved.

But there was a huge downside. "Then there's no such thing as a secret in this realm, is there? One could always know what the other is thinking as long as they want to."

He raised an eyebrow at the fact that she wasn't trying to use the chance to get back at him. "It depends on many things. How willing they are to let you know what they're thinking, how powerful you are and how strong your bond is."

"Bond?"

"The kind of bonds you know. Sibling bonds, maternal bonds and all that." He explained and sneakily held her hand while she was distracted. "It's different for everyone. But if it's your mate, you will not just read their thoughts. You understand them on a whole different level. You feel every single one of their emotions as though whatever they are going through is directly happening to you."

The thought of it sounded magical, she had to admit. *If such a pair existed in the human realm, they would be named the most romantic couple in the world."

It was rare for her to be mesmerised by things related to love and romance. She didn't usually pay it any heed, and he couldn't help asking, "Don't you want to be that kind of pair with anyone? The romantic couple that the whole world admires for their unbreakable bond and incredible telepathy?"

"No. Not yet. I don't know. At least not for now." She was uncertain, which was also something that didn't happen often. It only heightened his curiosity towards her personal life.

"Is there a reason why you have never had a boyfriend?"

She remained silent for a while, making him want to swallow the words he had already uttered. "If you mind me asking about your personal matters, please pretend I never asked." He gave her a way out.

She maintained her silence for a while and he wasn't sure whether she was debating her thoughts or pretending he didn't ask.

"I met a ton of good men at work." She spoke again after a few minutes, making him look down at her in surprise.

A smile formed on her face as she listed off the kind of men she had met. "Fellow designers, brand owners, models, fans, and those who just knew me as me. Not some popular designer, just Jasmine." She paused and chuckled for a moment. "Of course, I met a few gods too, and a crazy demigod who claimed me even though I had nothing to do with him. I guess my list should be complete."

A smile escaped his lips as he waited for her to continue speaking.

"I went on a few dates out of boredom. No one striked me as the guy I'd want to fling through the window of the restaurant we were having dinner at." She continued.

'But I want to fling them through those windows and make them food for the sharks. On second thought, the poor sharks could get food poisoning.' He thought as his hand unconsciously squeezed hers.

"Although they were not particularly annoying, none of them were outstanding either." She continued as they reached the door of the old building. "I don't know what I'm looking for in a man if you ask me. But deep down I somehow believe that I'll know it once I see it."

He paused and swallowed. If she were to listen closely right now, she would hear the sound of his heart breaking. She had just thrown him on the list of guys she had met and said that all of them—including him—were nothing outstanding. Whatever it was that she was looking for, he didn't have it either.

Did she do it on purpose? Was it a way of warning him that they would never be together no matter how many times he said that she belonged to him?

Of course, he couldn't be so full of himself as to believe that everything circled around him. Perhaps she was merely being honest. That didn't make him feel any better.

She didn't seem to realize the effect of her words as she smiled and swung her hand that had been held by him—probably not realising that they were holding hands. "I know I don't make much sense. It just felt like my other half—if I was destined to have one—was not in Efinchil."

"I know what you mean, and you make a whole lot of sense." He gave a slight smile. He felt the same way. He was certain that his other half was not in Efinchil or anywhere in the human realm to be precise.. She was right beside him.
