He frowned under her intense gaze. Just when she thought he was going to admit whatever it was that he was hiding, he shrugged indifferently. "Go ahead."

His reaction was unexpected. She frowned and scanned him for a moment. "I see. You are certain that I can't do it." When she tried to read his mind, it amounted to nothing. He must have blocked her, which made the whole situation even more questionable.

"Why?" She demanded answers. "Why don't you want me to know?"

"Go to bed." He instructed. Before she could protest, he looked at her sternly. "Just do as I say."

She crossed her arms. "You don't get to tell me what to do or not do. I will leave when I want to but not before…"

She stopped speaking when he suddenly stood, glaring down at her. Before she could process his sudden anger, he grabbed her by her elbow and shoved her out of the room." You will not get a word out of my mouth by pressing it. Now go along."

She was no match for him and the door shut in her face, leaving her no chance to retaliate. Did he just kick her out?

She had a million curses to hurl at him but it all morphed into one word. "Fine."

He heard her clearly despite the door being closed, and it made him shut his eyes and rake his fingers through his hair in frustration. He had not interacted with many women in the past, but it was enough for him to know that when a woman said "fine", the situation was anything but fine.

Jasmine was angry. She was probably going to give him the cold shoulder for weeks. What the f*ck was wrong with him?

___

In the morning, Jasmine felt awful thanks to all the anger she had pent up. Seeing Blaze's face as soon as she woke up did nothing to ease her anger.

"I figured you would be here at the crack of dawn." She was not surprised.

Without saying a word, he grabbed her hand and teleported them to a bridge. She understood that it was because of what Dairon said before, about gods of fire being unable to randomly show up in the territory of a water deity. Still, she was displeased about being teleported without her permission.

They sat on a bridge that made her feel chills down her spine. He wasn't planning to toss her down the bridge, right?

"Jasmine, you don't realize the impact you caused by running away, do you?" He asked, glancing at her sideways.

Her mouth remained shut. He really was planning to kill her, after all.

"I know that Scarlet brainwashed you. You were very young back then and didn't think through things." He continued, pausing as though he was at a loss. "You always let your temper rule over you. Whenever anything displeased you, you would break your scepter or cause chaos."

"I didn't choose to be a demigoddess." She sucked in a breath and recalled everything. "But that doesn't excuse my actions."

Blaze looked at her, finally seeing the image of the arrogant and temperamental little Gessamine. Only that she now looked like a mature demigoddess. He was almost proud of her. His expression remained stern. "Are you talking about how you got a goddess to help you run away, or the fact that you did so by summoning Narilia, a demoness?"

"Well, both." She left out the fact that she had recently summoned Narilia again. But at the time, she didn't know who Narilia was nor did she know that she was summoning her. She wasn't to blame, was she?

Her lips twitched. She was probably going to be punished nonetheless. The feud between demons and gods was no trivial matter.

"But before you sentence me, could you tell me how come you still remember me? When I died, my family forgot I existed except my mother. Why?" She asked.

He thought about the possibilities. "Because you gave her your feather."

She frowned at his reason. "Is it such a big deal to give my feathers away?"

"It's a sign of affection. The recipient of your feather will never forget you. Besides, you gave it to her twice, and both times you were parting with her. It was like a souvenir." He added.

"That makes sense." her heart clenched when she thought about how Sophie managed to go through the depression twice. No wonder she lied when Sinos asked about her past.

A thought flashed through her mind. She had seen a feather before. It was floating outside her window on the cruise ship, and it was blue. It looked too big for any bird she had ever seen and was magical… it certainly belonged to a water deity.

She shut her eyes.

"Nope. Don't think about it." She mumbled under her breath. She would definitely go crazy if she thought of it that way.

Blaze raised an amused eyebrow at her reaction but continued explaining. "As for everyone else who remembers you, it's because your soul did not fade away like those of most deceased deities. Fate had it that you would come back to life."

"I came back to life." She blinked. No wonder her childhood memory was so jumbled up. "To pay for my mistakes." The bubble burst when she thought of the only plausible reason.

"That, and probably many other reasons." He looked at her. "You were reborn, Jasmine. That's why your current appearance is so different from what you saw of your past self. And this," He pointed at her hair that was now mostly golden. "This is you reverting back to your original appearance."

Her lips twitched. Dairon had previously lied about it being a side effect of Bardumond's medication. Though when she thought about it, she didn't hold it against him. It was not easy to simply tell someone that they were reborn.

"What other reason is there?" She asked about the many other reasons he had avoided mentioning.

He shrugged without a definite answer. "Maybe it's because I wished you didn't leave, because I blamed myself for not being good enough and giving you the wrong impression. Or maybe it's because Sophie was so torn by your death that she couldn't have another child afterwards."

"She couldn't accept it." Jasmine's eyes watered.

"Do you think I'm right?" Blaze asked out of the blue.

"About what?"

"That I'm a bad father?" His tone was heavy like he needed reassurance, to be told that he was doing his best and that was all that mattered.

She was not going to lie to him. He was doing his worst and that wasn't even part of her business.

"What's my punishment?" She asked after a moment.

He knew that she was evading the question and could only sigh. "Is it strange that I cannot decide?"

"No it's not. I understand that you will need a lot of time to come up with the most excruciating punishment. It's okay. Take all the time you need." She smiled, sarcasm all over her eyes.

"You seem to still think that I hate you." He swallowed.

"Don't you?"

"No! I just want to be a good father. If it is not too late." He confessed. "If I promised to do my best, would you give me a chance?"

She frowned at his words. Why was he starting to sound serious about it? It would be a good thing for his children if he were to be a better father but she was not willing to be part of it.

"Dairon is waiting for me." She pushed herself back from the edge of the bridge and stood up.

"Okay. If you need my help, summon me and I'll be right there." He could only agree and teleport her back to Dairon's Island.

___

With both Jasmine and Dairon in a foul mood, training couldn't possibly be any worse. Weapons had melted and books had gone up in flames, and the beautiful garden was currently on fire.

"I asked you to create fireballs, not set the entire garden on fire!" He shot her a mean look. She took a deep breath and tried to stop the fire, only for it to catch the nearby plants.

He teleported them out of the garden and glared at her. "I said put out the fire, not let it get out of control."

Her hands were balled tightly into fists and when the fireballs finally appeared, she flung them towards the sea in anger.

"With such little self control, how are you able to stay alive?" He taunted yet again.

"Shut the f*ck up, okay!" She couldn't take it anymore. She grabbed what was left of her books and weapons, her eyes glaring daggers at him. "I am trying my best here and do you know why I can't do the right thing? It's all because of you!" She pointed at him furiously, but the least expected outcome happened.

She covered her gaped mouth with her hand when his clothes went ablaze.

"Dairon!"
