Chapter 22: To Meet My Wife

“If I am not prying, may I ask why you are going to the hospital?” Chris who was feeling suffocated due to the silence inside the car, finally spoke trying to liven the atmosphere inside the car.

‘You are definitely already prying when you said this!’ Roy commented inside his heart. He would have loved to shout it to the man but he refrained from doing so since his boss had asked him to be polite and kind to this fucking piece of shit.

“I am going to meet my wife,” Levian answered in a professional manner but he did not forget to emphasize the wifey part.

No one had expected him to answer, however, Levian was more than happy to keep him company and to Roy’s surprise, he answered the question happily.

“What really?” Roy was the one to get shocked at this news. Weren’t they going to meet the doctor called as Sherry Lona to do some business deals?

‘Follow the script stupid.’ Levian gestured with his eyes.

Roy:“……”

“Your wife?” Chris was taken aback when he heard that a young man such as the person behind him was already married.

“She is in the hospital?” he asked.

“Yes.” Levian was glancing at the round head of the man before him all this while.

“She has been in the hospital for a long time, I am afraid she might stay in the hospital her whole life.” Levian let out a sigh thinking about the professional work ethics of Sherry that he had learnt from her records.

From the moment she got licensed as a doctor, she stayed 24/7 in hospital, not even taking days or nights off to take rest.

Only after her marriage was finalized, she started to take care of herself and took few days leave to prepare, for the first time ever in her life.

Well, Levian himself was a workaholic but he knew he did not even hold a candle to Sherry’s diligence in working.

She was overpowered!!

“You seem worried about her.” Chris commented.

“Hmm…Am I?” Levian was thoughtful for a while.

‘I am just anxious thinking about her going to engross herself in work much more often than before to forget about her cheating fiancé.’ Levian thought to himself taking in to considerations the behavior of Sherry.

He valued trust more than anything and betrayal was the thing he hated the most. Thinking as to how the asshole Chris cheated on Sherry, completely disregarding her trust and faith made him mad at Chris even though he was just a bystander.

With his mood going downhill, the temperature inside the car also plummeted and the atmosphere suddenly got stagnant and heavy. He could not help but send sharp and hateful gaze to Chris who was sitting in front of him.

‘What was that?’ Chris felt a shiver down his spine when he sensed the ominous and malicious gaze on him.

“I-I hope she makes a quick recovery.” Chris offered good wishes to try and lift the heavy atmosphere inside the car.

“Yeah, I hope she does.” Levian agreed with him. “I hope she recovers from the pain in her heart.” Levian added, his intention and emotion vague.

None of them spoke anything and once again silence permeated the car.

After a while, the car came to a sudden halt.

“Boss, we have arrived.” Roy broke the silence and looked back at Levian who simply nodded his head.

“You can get off now.” Roy turned his head sideways and saw Chris was still sitting there like an esteemed guest and wanted to ask him to piss off.

“Oh right..Thank you, sir.” Chris gave a bootlicking smile as he tried to curry favor with the man on the back seat.

As for Roy, he did not even keep him in his eyes, because he was just a driver. He knew that only the man at the back seat was powerful enough and getting a connection for networking in future was going to be good.

“Excuse me sir.” Chris was still staying inside the car and turned to look back at Levian once again. He took out his wallet and took out a business card.

He noticed Levian’s face and wondered if he might have seen it since it felt awfully familiar to him. His eyes trailed from the custom made suit he was wearing to the million dollar’s worth watch on his wrist.

‘Even the shoes he is wearing is made from pure leather.’ Chris commented inwardly and again turned back his gaze to his well chiseled face that could even shame the supermodels.

He even momentarily thought if this man was some kind of celebrity.

“Is there anything in my face?” Levian was irked by the staring eyes of Chris that was measuring him from top to bottom as if calculating his worth.

“You have been staring at me for quite q while now. I know I look good but sorry, I am only interested in woman.” Levian did not even let him speak and directly cut him off.

“N-No, sir..that w-wasn’t my intention.” Chris backed down, flushing a little in embarrassment.

‘Whahahah..Serves you right.’ Roy held in his laughter since his job was to be kind to the guy.

“Ahemm..” Chris cleared his throat and gulped down his embarrassment.

“Although I can not do much to thank you for your kindness, I can surely return the favor to one day.” He held out his business card to Levian and smiled shamelessly.

“So what?” Levian glanced at the card and showed a look of disdain.

“Err. I mean, I can help you someday. It’s better to know more people.” Chris made his intention clear but his palms were already wet with sweat despite appearing calm and confident.

Levian did not speak anything and directly got off of the car. Following him Chris also got off from the car and stood right beside him.

Roy looked at Chris who was following his boss around and shook his head.

He took out a bottle of air cleaner and sprayed it on the seat that Chris was seating. “I heard betrayal is contagious. I hope I won’t catch it.” He shuddered at the thought and once again sprayed the air purifier all inside.

Smelling the fresh scent he let out a smile.

“Here, take this.” Levian shoved a business card right in to his hand and did not even bother to look at the card he was holding.

“I am pretty sure you will need my card more than I might need yours.” Levian put on his long outer coat and seeing that Roy had already parked the car and was walking towards him, he turned his back on Chris and said, “Well then, I wish you all the best in your life to dodge the misfortunes coming your way.”

Without even hearing for his response, Levian and Roy took off towards the reception of the hospital to make a private appointment with Dr. Sherry.

As for Chris, he did not even hear what the other person said as he stood dumbstruck at his place looking at the name in the card, cursing himself for not recognizing the one and only Levian Smith.
