Emeraude feed his fishes, calmly throwing in one piece of meat after another. The fishes ate it, although reluctantly, since it was cattle and not human meat, but since he had luckily outgrown his I slaughter people for food phase she had to use meant from animals...it diminished the fishes scale luster as he often complained, and dulled their senses.
"Well, well, my dear friends." he muttered softer than he would for any human. "For now this will have to do, soon you are going to get some better stuff." the fished devoured the meat leaving only the bone, knowing even on that voracious as they were.
"You are scary when doing that." Aoki found himself saying still feeling the night as he stepped on the platform and smiled at his partner, his wife, husband, however one wanted to see it.
"I know, but it does no longer scare you." He heard him say, and suddenly a pair of glowing green eyes was on him. "Luckily."
It still scares me, but I know you would never harm me.
"Indeed."
"The Kamizuru have their bees swarm through the village but found nothing thus so far." he said, bringing up the topic that drove them all slightly mad the last days. He heard a crunch and looked at the bone including meat Chloe had been about to throw into the water.
"I see." his lover said, his voice clear as crystals and his eyes emitting a faint glow which only showing his obvious agitation with the entire situation. "This is getting troublesome, we have been running into odd Genjutsu for a while now and even if they do not affect me they affect you and are bothersome."
"By now I wonder how they stay hidden, we are by no means a pitifully small village, but not the size of other villages it is far harder to stay hidden among the forgotten then among other villages." Aoki said, shaking his head. "We do not even have traders leave and go, we are isolated, support ourselves."
"I know...." reaching inside the tank with her hand, she stoked her favorite's scaly back. The gigantic fish was the best of the bunch according to her and the most vicious as Aoki knew, but he also knew none of them would dare laying a hand on their master's flesh. Instead, those fishes would fight for Chloe like the most vicious of warriors. "....we need some help from outside, someone who is unattached to the village, sees with undiluted eyes."
Aoki felt something inside him squirm. The Kage did not like the thought that much was clear, suddenly he remembered the small children from his carriage ride long ago, Genevieve and Tsukiko.
"I do not like him, but I trust him." Chloe said, and Aoki felt how shivers ran down his spine. "Call Tsukiko Hatake....the Commander...." suddenly he stopped. "...although we want to ask him a favor, he loves a good flatter. Call the obsidian Fang, sounds better for a Hatake of all things' no?"

He remembered her, first from the caravan then when he met her during the time when she asked for scrolls to contain the Kyuubi for Konoha acting as assistand advisor of the Hokage itself. Clad in a black Kimono ever since she first appeared, always clad in black, like a delicate doll with her pale spotless skin and her dark bottomless eyes. They reminded him of his Kages Dojutsu, it probably was the same Dojutsu as well. Small, intelligent, deadly and not strong as a Kage but making up her painfully obvious lack of Chakra with ingenious tactics and deadly skill in Taijustsu.
"As one sees it." he said, and a small laugh came out if his Kages mouth, making him shiver where he stood.
"Indeed, but if it is creativity, neutrality and a quick thinker that we need, she is the one, prepare paper and a pen, we will invite a print sized devil into our village. We are after all biased one way or another and far too entangled to be neutral in our search." Emeraudes voice was stone-cold. "And hope the devil dies after doing the work."
Giving his Fish a last stoke, Chloe rose from his pedestal and walked the path over the water to him. Taking a strand of hair from Aoki he kissed it and closed his eyes. "I will destroy what threatens us, what is threatening important things."
"I have no doubt." closing his arms around his Kages slender figure they hugged each other, the touch soft suddenly a pair of nails digged into his clothes and he looked down seeing a blank expression, with light like light green eyes, shining, unnatural it seemed like millions of small lights played underneath it.
"I will kill them." Chloe stated with an absolutism that would scare a great many, but it was this trait that had made him Kage of the forgotten, the absoluteness of his words. When the Kage of the forgotten gave his word, then dare god who would be stupid enough to get into his way.
"I will send a message to the Hatake." Aoki said. "In person, because right now we can trust no one. Whoever has infiltrated us must have his allies here, or else he couldn't have stayed hidden for so long."
"Alright, do not take too long." Chloe muttered. "Hurry before I loose my laurels please. It is uncomfortable."
"I will." he knew exactly how much truth was in those words, too much for any of them to feel good about it, no one would poke his heart while he was away and that was exactly what they needed until they had both, traitor and infiltrator.
