It doesn't matter whether we can find Tenya before the villains or not. So far, it can be said that I already achieved my objectives. I finally experienced what it feels like to fight in a life-and-death battle against someone stronger than me.

They're third-class, which is the weakest, and yet their strength is already exceeded beyond human limits. I can't wait to see what a second-class hero is capable of when going all out. I glanced at Narvi with curiosity.

"So, young master, what's your plan?"

Plan? Hm, I can't exactly tell her that I plan to abandon Tenya Ida to the villains.

"We're going to follow their footprints."

"...is that it?" She looked skeptical about my plan. "Will we be able to catch up to them?"

I smiled, "Don't worry, did you notice something off about the footprints of the man that was being chased?"

"Hmm, I don't think so..." Narvi hummed while squinting her eyes at the track of footprints.

I patiently explained my finding, "Even though the footprints of both parties are kind of similar, there are some differences. Look at how deep they are."

Narvi glanced at the tracks pointed by me.

"Ah, right! Now that you mention it. The footprints of the pursuer are lighter and fainter than the man in the front. He barely leaves a trace compared to his target."

As expected of a high-level hero, her observation is amazing. Although I said it casually, the differences were barely noticeable. Even I need a few takes in case I made a mistake but she only needs a single glance to notice the small detail. The power of stats is amazing.

"Let's talk while we run."

I started running through the forest while following the tracks. Narvi followed beside me.

"After observing their tracks for a while, I'm pretty sure they don't have a quirk that boosts their speed. This makes it easier to deduce a lot of things."

I stepped on a small boulder and use it as a springboard to increase my speed even further, weaving through the forest's obstacles. Behind me, I can hear the light steps of Narvi as she easily keeps up with my pace.

"I guess that makes sense. People with enhanced speed are quite rare." She nodded lightly.

"Good for us." I chuckled. "The fact that the fleeing man leaves deeper footprints means he's carrying something heavy."

Narvi thought of something and then she widened her eyes in surprise, "Are you saying he's fleeing from the enemy while carrying your friend?" Nope, He's not my friend.

She then frowned, "Wait, what if he's just a big guy or someone with a lot of fat on his body? That could also explain why he leaves deeper footprints than the pursuer."

She's a chatterbox with a lot of argumentative streak in her. While I don't hate it, it's not time for a banter because past a bent tree, I saw something blue. When I went past the shrubberies, I finally saw it. The noises I've been hearing for a while, the sounds of flowing water.

I squinted my eyes as the light of the afternoon sun gleamed brightly across the surface of flowing water.

I scanned the surroundings lazily. "It looks like they crossed the river. The footprints tracks stopped here."

Narvi listened quietly beside me, then I continued, "Considering it's a medium-sized river, they should be crossing the river by swimming."

"What about Tenya?" Narvi asked.

I eyed the surrounding, but there was no trace at all. Did he swim while carrying Tenya on his back?

I frowned my eyes, something is off.

Technically it's possible to carry people while swimming since they're no longer mere mortals. But doing so will slow down his speed.

I eyed the deep river.

Not to mention this flowing water will slow his speed even further. I don't think the enemy will miss this chance. If the pursuer wants to make a move this place is his best bet.

I walked along the river's edge, looking for some trace of blood or battle.

"What're you doing young master?"

"I want to see if there's some kind of clues. There is no way Tenya and his guardian will be able to–"

Wait, what is that?

When I activated [Vision of Life], a humanoid greenish silhouette was bouncing back and forth inside the river.

Are you kidding me? Is that supposed to be an ambush? That is too sloppy.

But, I admit it's not a bad idea. Hey, It might even work If he used it against the others but sadly he encountered me today. He had bad luck. I almost sympathize with him. Almost.

I walked closer to Narvi and whispered something in her ears. Her eyebrows arched in surprise when she heard what I say. She gave the certain part of the water an odd look before walking toward the river, slowly.

I crouched down and dipped my hand into the flowing water. Watching her from the corner of my eyes. But seeing this guy boobing inside then water made my thought wander...

How did this guy know we're tailing him? I don't think we have crossed paths before. Is this his Quirk at work or does he has some kind of tricks?

There are plenty of reasons, but that's not what concerns me the most. The fact that he chooses to let his target go and tries to kill us here shows that this guy is a decisive person.

This guy is amusing. I can feel it. There's no way this kind of person is ordinary. He can't be ordinary.

When the river reached Narvi's knees, she stopped and took out something from inside her maid dress. I saw four knives in her hand, she hold each knife between her fingers. Suddenly she swings her hand and the four knives flashed from different angles. it was so fast that they barely leaves a trace before sinking deep into the river.

It was faint but I swear I heard a clanging sound from beneath the water.

Looks like it's failed, huh. Well, I was kinda expecting it. There's no way it would be that easy.

Suddenly the river started to ripple as though a whale is trying to ascend. I pulled out a silver knife from the sheath in my inner pocket and started enhancing my legs.

The ripples trembled violently before they explode!

Boom~!

Surges of river waves headed toward us as though they were trying to submerge us with their fury.

I deftly retreated to the forest, hiding on top of the thick branch. This is definitely out of my league. I'll leave it to you Narvi.

In the meantime, I used [Vision of Life] to scout the terrain around us. It won't do for us to fight a bitter fight only for a third party to profit without even lifting a finger. That would be beyond suck.

I squinted at the distance, no matter what I did, the range of this skill doesn't change. It's the same as my own eyes' capability. It means as long as I could see it with my naked eyes, [Vision of Life] could also catch it in its sight. It's working through obstacles obviously.

I turned to the situation below and saw Narvi and a gorgeous babe duking it out. I blinked, it caught me off guard. Seriously... It's good I'm not ambushed by her. Otherwise, she would put me in a double stun.

She's gorgeous and hot as hell. Is that even possible? Her curves are not to be underestimated, she's very voluptuous. Her body easily eclipsed everyone I know in this world. It's especially apparent since she's wearing light purple panties and a black low-cut sports bra. Is that her villain costume? I'm not sure about its defensive capability but I can vouch for its offensive power. It has a particularly dangerous mental attack, especially on men.

I can feel the branch beneath my feet shaking every time that babe tries to smash Narvi with her massive hammer only for her to hit the ground. Her power is no joke.

Don't let your guard down Narvi. That woman hasn't shown her Quirk yet.

Boom~!

Yet another missed smash. But this time she stopped chasing after Narvi. She leaned her massive boobs on the handle of her hammer, causing her tits to get bigger and nearly burst out from the black low-cut bra.

She gave Narvi a coy look while the corner of her mouth curved seductively, "You're not bad, my fair maid. I'm impressed."

She caresses her boobs playfully, "How about it, don't you want to join my Guild? Ah, where are my manners? It's nice to meet you. People called me by the name of Dusty Ash and I belong to–"

"The Volcano Thieves." Narvi cut her off. "I have heard of the numerous evil deeds of your Guild. Especially as of late... Aren't you guys so bold to make a move against them? I'm afraid there's no future for your little band of thieves."

"Oh my, are you worried about Lil old me? that's so flattering. I'm so happy I want to put you down under my lovely hammer." While in the midst of her sentence, she swings her hammer toward Narvi. Bam~ Bang~!

"This beautiful maid, why don't you stop squirming around like a rat and get smashed for real."

"What about no?"

"I'm afraid I won't take no for an answer."

Bang~!

Their fight didn't get anywhere as the woman in the skimpy outfit keep missing while Narvi's cuts and slashes were blocked by that massive hammer of her. It's practically a shield in disguise. She just needs to shift her hammer for a bit to change between a hammer and a shield. Although that hammer looked heavy as hell, it was nothing in the hand of a high-Level hero or villain.

They're in a stalemate, which is not good for my heart. I have to do something.

I observed the villain in a skimpy costume. Trying to guess her power. Most of the villain's power could be deduced based on their costumes and gears. So it pays to observe your foes carefully. This woman has long, wavy white hair which is mostly tied into a ponytail, leaving two locks on the sides of her face. I had a pretty hard time trying to see her face due to her bangs that obscure most of the right eye of her face.

Not to mention that thin face mask–

Wait, is that thing a respiratory? I observed the thing around her neck carefully and sure enough, she had a large metal respirator hanging loosely around her neck.

Heh, I might have some guesses about her Quirk. With that respiratory as her gear, her Quirk might have something to do with harmful gasses that affect people around her through odor or scent. Is it a simple smoke? Or maybe something more harmful like poison or sleeping gas.

Either way, Narvi must not get too close to that woman in a skimpy suit. It would be over for us if she take my maid down!

And to think she was fighting without using her Quirk so far. It looks like she's planning to catch Narvi off guard with her Quirk and finish her in one stroke! What a devious woman! The more beautiful a woman looks the more dangerous they are. I only need a look to know that this one is especially bad.

"Narvi! Watch out for her Quirk!" I shouted from the safety of my branch, causing both of them to glance my way. "She has respiratory around her neck, so be careful! Don't breathe in something nasty!"

There's no need for me to say more. I'm pretty sure Narvi understood what I mean. I sighed in relief when I saw Narvi give me a slight nod. Though Dusty Ash doesn't seem to take it well as she swung her hammer against a rock the size of a soccer ball toward my hiding spot.

Swiish~

With the heart stuck in my throat, I jumped away from the tree to avoid the incoming projectile. Just then the rocks hit the tree and smashed the guy to pieces, sending woods fragment all over the place.

I was in the air and couldn't exactly dodge the incoming fragments that went my way. So I could only twist my body to avoid most of the projectiles. I raised my leg and kick the unavoidable blokes of wood while slashing the smaller ones with my knife, sending splinters and wood fragments all over the place.

I landed on the ground and immediately rushed away from Dusty Ash's line of sight.

"Young master!" Narvi looked my way, worry plastered on her face.

Dusty Ash chuckled, "Don't worry, it doesn't look like he's dead."

All she gets is a glare from Narvi. Seeing this Dusty Ash smiled, "If you hate it that much, why don't you use that flat body yours to stop me~" The sounds of combat started once again after some curses from Narvi.

I was sitting on another branch as I brushed the dust, bark, and splinters from my uniform. It needs thorough washing.

I sighed with exasperation. She might be hot, but her temper is beyond nasty. Tsk Tsk, I know Level 4 is dangerous, but to think it would be to this degree. I must come up with a countermeasure in case I encounter another wild villain...
