              Hearing a chuckle come from behind him, Drax stopped looking at his mission rewards as he quickly turned around to see the giant white fox standing right In front of me. Starting to shiver in fear, Drax didn't even notice it whenever the fox slipped her large white tail under him and then lifted him into the air. As he stood eye level with the fox, Drax's body started to shiver uncontrollably as his fur stood on end. Yes, Drax might have been terrified of the Kelo-vile, but this was a different matter entirely. The creature standing before him could wipe out an entire forest in an instant so what's stopping it from killing him?

              *You have nothing to fear, my son.* Hearing a gentle voice inside of his head, Drax's shaking subsided slightly. Looking into the loved filled eyes of Kuro Drax's mind was finally able to start processing what had happened, but there's one thing that he truly didn't understand. "You called me your son, what do you mean?" he asked. *I mean exactly, what I just said* Kuro replied.

              *I am your mother, but it is okay if you don't remember me, it happens all the time.* Finally the realization hit him. This giant fox has been calling him her son this entire time, and he hadn't even noticed. (But if that's the case, then why wasn't she there whenever I opened my eyes, and why did she say that it was normal if I didn't remember her?) Thought Drax. Deciding to ask, Drax looked up at Kuro before saying "You said it was normal for me not to remember you and that it happens all the time. How is it normal and why weren't you there whenever I opened my eyes?"

              *Well* said Kuro *our race has, well, I guess you could call it an initiation process. Whenever a Fox belonging to our race comes into this world, it's a very happy time for us. But our race is weakening thanks to most things not being able to hurt us, and we've become lazy and carefree. It is thanks to this that our race is beginning to go extinct, here lately we've been seeing more and more monsters and animals adapting to our race and finding ways to hurt us and even kill us. Some have even adapted to where they now use our soul essence to survive, like the Kelo-vile you just fought. 

              Soul essence, as I'm sure you know, is what we are made out of. It's the visible form that our soul takes, allowing us to interact with other beings. But now different creatures are starting to absorb this essence enough that even our cranky old elders have taken notice. And they have decided to do something about it. Now every time one of our race gives birth, we are forced to take care of the child for three days before leaving them in a place that has minimal dangers to our race for one week. Of course, the dangers can't be non-existent.

              The place must be at least a challenge for the newborn. If they survive then that means that they are allowed to live with our race otherwise.....* she didn't need to say it, the message was already pretty clear. Feeling a tinge of rage at these elders at how they could do such a thing to newborns, Drax could feel the mist in his body start to swirl faster as his tails swept through the air in anger. Ignoring the swirl of emotions inside himself, Drax looked at Kuro as he attentively listened to the rest of what she was saying. *Of course, if a fox or any other creature is left at such a young age then it's almost a one hundred percent guarantee that they won't remember their biological parents, which answers your earlier question. 

              And the reason I wasn't there whenever you opened your eyes is because we are not allowed to show ourselves to you nor are we allowed to even be close to you. We must at least be a full continent away, or else the elders would immediately kill the young one and their family.* Thinking on this for a moment, Drax had a question pop into his mind. *Wait, you said minimal dangers correct?* *That's correct* Replied Kuro. "And does a S-Ranked Monster count as minimal danger?" Asked Drax. "Well…. No, ``said Kuro after a moment of hesitation.

              "Well then, WHY THE HECK DID I HAVE TO FIGHT WHAT HUMANS WOULD CONSIDER TO BE A S-RANKED MONSTER!!!!" Coughing lightly and looking away from Drax, Kure suddenly became overly interested in a sparking snowflake laying on top of the snow. *Well?* Drax asked, *That may have been a mistake on my part. I may have accidentally put you close to its territory, even though the elders warned me of the monster beforehand. Tee hee.* 

              Bopping her head lightly with one paw while sticking out her tongue, Drax just looked at his mother like she was crazy before letting out a heavy side. Shaking his head from left to right, Drsx suddenly froze as he realized the thought that just went through his head. (Wait mother?) Looking at Kuro, Drax could feel his heart fill with warmth. (Yes, mother.)
