Chapter 26: Chapter 24 Aina’s slimy adventures 1

 

In a land of silver plants there was a slime, a silver slime. Sadly our slime was not able to see the world like most creatures, instead it perceived only mana. The slime did not do much and thought not about complicated concerns of sapients. 

 

Slimes are curious creatures, so it always investigates new things. One day it discovered a really huge stand-on-the-ground-food. Sadly it was not able to eat it. The slime discovered small stand-on-the-ground-food growing on the huge one and suddenly had the urge to reach it. After failing multiple times it finally managed to land on the huge food and ate some of the small food in satisfaction. Where the urge came from the slime never asked.

 

After its success it continued to search for new things. The slime met some never-touch-ground creatures. They seemed to be protective of some bigger small food, so it made sure not to get near them. They became great friends and the slime lived some time with them.

 

On a slow day it noticed a different never-touch-ground. The slime could not perceive the thing through vibrations like the others. Curious, it investigated but was met with aggression. The thing wanted to land on the slime and the slime fled.

 

Ever since that encounter the slime never stayed in one location for long. A day ago it had found a cave and was now exploring it. Coming around a corner it saw one of the moving-through-ground dying and something else near it. The slime copied the side to side movements of the thing to look friendly. It did not want to die.

 

The not-friendly-many-limbs moved away, taking the corpse with it and leaving the slime alone with the bright tunnel-through-space. It had no idea it was a portal and didn’t know what it did, so the slime jumped at it.

 

Suddenly it was in a similar region as where it had been born, the only difference was a bright tunnel-through-space also being there. The slime jumped through again and found itself back in the surrounded-by-ground. It jumped through the tunnel-through-space several times, but didn’t understand what was going on. Having seen the not-friendly-many-limbs it decided not to explore the surrounded-by-ground.

 

The slime lived near the tunnel-through-space for a long time, it even split once creating a second slime. The two became friends and the slime lived peacefully. At least until one day a large scary-standing-on-four-limbs and a smaller one appeared.

 

Everything was frightened by the two creatures, everything except our slime. For the slime the scary creature looked absolutely beautiful. If it knew how to speak or even the concept of language, it would have called it love at first sight.

 

For the first time in its life the slime formed a thought. It wanted to be with this thing, wanted to be accepted by it. The slime had gained sapience and more and more thoughts formed. It realized that the urges it sometimes got were not necessarily its own and discovered quests. Without knowing language though, the system communicated with feelings and memories. This was too much information for the slime to comprehend, but it understood that it wanted to be with the scary looking thing.

 

After it had followed and watched it for some time, the scary looking thing changed its form to something not scary. It ran away from the other things and the slime realized the thing was in distress. Not wanting to waste a chance the slime moved near to comfort the thing. To its surprise it got picked up and hugged. The slime had discovered heaven.

 

The slime stayed with its love target from then on and did everything it could to help it. After some time it had realized that the things were using the vibrations in the air to communicate. It learned its name Aina and the name of its love, Argul. With a new found determination the slime began to try and learn the language and sometimes it got rewarded with knowledge of new words if it learned something.

 

One night it found Argul tossing herself around in her sleep and moved to comfort her. The slime got hugged again and Argul calmed down, but the slime noticed something new. There on the round and soft mounds on Argul’s chest was something hard and pointy. Aina moved to investigate, which was very similar to getting massaged and Argul moaned softly. Aina decided that this was a good thing and continued, while she discovered more and more of Argul’s sweet spots. That night Argul had a very wet dream.

Aina had learned a bit since then. It now knew about genders and that Argul thought of it as female, so it decided female it would be. They were now with a large group of humans. Aina liked the little ones. They always wanted to play with her. She had also discovered that she did not receive offerings by the people but was fed the waste. She was not offended as her body was not able to taste things beyond what can be eaten and can not be eaten, but it was again truly frustrating not being able to share something with Argul.

 

Aina at least knew she would just have to be patient though. Being with Argul had already raised her level by 2 and she was now level 3. She did not know that this was because Argul’s curses sometimes used her mana when she had a full mana pull to strengthen their effects. This was only possible because Argul was generating mana, but it also made her curses a lot stronger with full mana.

 

One of the humans had tried to steal her today, so Aina had shot him with a weak magic missile. Being around Argul she had learned a lot and even improved her own mana sense. It allowed her to make sure that no pesky people could take her away from Argul. Without Argul her life would be like before her first thought and she did not want that.

 

The man was left lying on the ground with a large bruise on his leg. He had been lucky that Aina had not hit his gems or it wouldn’t have ended well for his future plans to become a father.

 

Argul had grown them a tree house, but that was not the important thing for Aina. She and Argul would now sleep alone in the same room without the others, which made her super happy. Sometimes when Argul slept she would explore all the parts of Argul's body and basically knew every spot that made Argul purr especially strong.
