"Heyo?"
The voice of a young girl echoed in his head. Staring off into the endless white abyss, Lake slowly regained consciousness. It was an endless void of pure white, with no objects, no shadows and nothing to look at—except for the girl standing in front of him.
"W-where am I? I thought I died..."
"You did. It was quite a cliche death at that."
"Cliche...? More importantly, who are you?"
The girl did a little twirl before leaning down toward Lake. Her long, luscious white hair fluttered through the air.
"I'm a goddess. My name's Freya~"
"Ah."
"You don't look very surprised."
"I might not look it, but I am quite surprised."
Lake still had his usually apathetic expression, staring blankly at the goddess. However, inside, he was trying to comprehend his situation. The setting was completely out of the bounds of reality, travelling into fiction.
"So, what's happening."
"Alright, I'll get to the main point. I'm going to be reincarnating you! Isn't that exciting~?"
"Well, I should've expected something like that. Are there any conditions...? I feel like that's the main theme with events like this."
"There aren't any. In fact, you're free to roam as you feel... well, aside from the fact that your sister is the villain."
"My sister is the wh—"
"Don't worry about it. Let's move on to the next order of business. I need to give you some powers~"
"I feel like we're skipping over something imp—"
"Let's go!"
Her steps echoed through the ground as she skipped around. A few moments later, a pile of cards appeared in her hand, poofing into existence under a cloud of smoke. She shuffled them around before picking one off the top.
"Your first ability is... Vitality Steal..."
"That doesn't sound too bad."
"Y-yeah... anyways, onto your system!"
She picked another card.
"Your system is... oh... FFF-ranked..."
"That's a disappointment."
She looked over at Lake, who was still looking blankly at her. Freya appeared confused by his lack of interest, especially with such a supposedly important subject.
"Well, we've still got your weapon to go!"
She manufactured a brief moment of silence to build intrigue, although it didn't seem to have any effect on the unemotional boy.
"Your weapon is...! T-the... F-rank... Rapier of the Fallen Knight..."
"Why am I not surprised."

"W-well...! On the bright side..."
"Mhm."
Freya suddenly turned around.
"There's no bright side, is there?" he commented.
The two of them stood silently, staring off into the endless abyss that was this mysterious place. It was white, completely white, oddly resembling the facilities of the Ideal Human Project that Lake was once a part of. Freya might have seemed like an elegant girl, but her face was quite concerning, regarding the powers that Lake had just received. She tried to hide her subtle mockery from him.
"A-anyways, it's about time I sent you off, Lake Ryeokja!"
"Then do it."
"It's not that easy, you know...? I-I just got to see you again... after all..."
"What do you mean."
"N-never mind it! You'll be sent off in a few seconds."
The goddess had a somewhat depressed expression. Looking down at the ground, it seemed as if she was wanting to do something more. Eventually, she looked over at Lake and smiled.
"I'll see you soon, don't die on me~"
"Wouldn't I see you sooner if I died?"
"It doesn't work like that! Anyways, just... stay safe, alright?"
"I'll try."
A vibrant ray of light shone down at Lake before he was eventually carried away to the new world.

Dazed, Lake Ryeokja found himself sitting in a small puddle of mud. The cool, viscous texture was quite overt after coming from a dimension of nothingness. Looking around, nothing seemed obviously out of the ordinary. The surroundings were filled with trees, plants and bugs... nothing that would make one suspect anything weird.
Pulling himself off of the ground, Lake began making his way through the woods, hoping to find some sign of civilisation. The goddess provided him with less information than he would've liked. However, he still didn't feel any fear.
In the distance, Lake could hear the dense footsteps of someone else trodding through the forest. He stopped to avoid making too much noise. Looking from behind the thick trunk of the oddly-large tree, he quickly observed them.
With bright blue, steel-plated armour pieces and a large green sword, they stood out quite conspicuously from their surroundings. Their long blond hair flowed between the low-hanging branches, someone managing to keep itself undirtied.
Suddenly, the female knight turned in the direction of Lake.
Despite the fact that he didn't make any noise, the knight seemed to have been able to locate him regardless. Now that she knew where he was, he had no choice but to confront her, slowly making his way out from behind the tree.
Seeing him, the knight was taken aback.
"What the hell?! A-are you... a man...?"
---
Yes, he was indeed a man. A man who would easily overpower her.
Such a uncharacteristic expression.
