Leona's POV

Leona was excited. No matter how much she tried she was unable to control her beating heart. 

Why wouldn't she be? 

Today, they would take their first step towards being strong. 

So what was so special about it? Was she some kind of shonen protagonist who lived to become the strongest?

No, Leona was not a training maniac or something which people perceived her to be.

Yes, she trained, bled, and shed sweat for hours. 

Yes, her first love had always been the sword.

And yes, she would work as hard as possible to become just a little stronger. 

But it was not because she enjoyed the training. And she didn't love the sword because the sword was beautiful or something. Neither did she wish to get stronger just for the sake of it.

No! Leona trained because it was the only way to be stronger, she loved the sword because it could protect her. 

From whom? 

From the strong!!!

See, Leona despised bowing in front of someone. No matter if they were nobles or if it was her destiny itself.

Unfortunately, life was not a fairytale, and she always got in trouble because of her hot-headed nature.

Unfortunately for him, Mark was stronger than that noble in wits. So Mark made that bastard dance on his palm.

Though unlike her brother and sister, Leona was never good in the head department, hence her only way to get stronger was to awaken and work hard. 

That's why Leona was so excited today.

Mark used [Berserk Wave] and that made her come out of her thoughts and look at him. 

Mark stood left of Leona, just a few meters ahead of her. 

Wearing golden plated armor and a helmet, holding a rhombus-shaped golden shield in the left hand, and a beautiful holy sword in the right hand. He looked like a golden Knight to her. No… He looked like a Holy Knight, who always protected her. 

Initially, she didn't like when he tried to protect her, since she was older and it was her duty to protect them. But now, she felt more comfortable that way. 

Ting!!

Ting!! 

Mark used [Berserk Wave] two more times. He wanted the Quogoa to be angrier.

The more angry the Quogoa would be, the more powerful skill it would use on Mark. Hence Mark would be able to reflect more powerful skill using [Perfect Reflection] and that would cause the Quogoa more severe injuries. So it wasn't surprising at all why would he use [Berserk Wave] so many times. 

Unsurprisingly, the Quogoa was enraged and wanted to shred Mark to pieces. 

'Hmm, why isn't he taking the stance for [Perfect Reflection]?' 

Everything till now was going according to the plan, and it was time for Mark to prepare his skill. 

[Mark, it's coming.] 

Leona gave a soft reminder after activating the communication ring, but Mark didn't reply. 

He stood in the same place like he was… frozen.

'I don't want to teach someone who would only cower in the face of death.'

Suddenly, words of her master… former master began to resound in her ears.

It was not the time to be emotional. The Quogoa was rapidly running towards Mark. 

Leona had to stop it somehow. But she bit her lips on remembering the skill she learned in the last month.

Since Mark could learn only two skills in a month. He chose [Berserk Wave] and [Perfect Reflection] because both of those skills needed 'Shield-Aura'. 

Hence Leona had to learn [Sharp Blade] on his recommendation.

Though why Leona could learn only one skill while Mark learned two? 

It's because Mark had 200 Energy Points while Leona only had 100 Aura points. 

But why did she have fewer Aura points? It's because all warriors awakened 100 Aura Points at H-rank. Hence both Leona and Melanie had 100 Aura Points. 

Though that was not the case for mages or Saintess. Hence both Eleanor and Catherine awakened 200 Divine Points and Mana Points respectively. 

So here, Mark was an actual cheat. Who awakened 200 Energy Points as well as he could use any weapon. 

Though it also forced him to absorb 2000 cores to advance, twice as many as them. 

Thump.

Thump.

The Quogoa's heavy and rapid footsteps brought her out of her thoughts. 

[Mother! Cat! stop the Quogoa!!] 

That's all she could say before trying to stop the Quogoa. But it swatted her like she was some kind of fly. 

[Ple-ase... s-a-ve... h-him.]

Those were the last words she could squeeze out before everything went dark.
