Chapter 17: Chapter 17 : Two Weeks

Mark had decided to let Leona rest for the whole day, but Leona insisted she was fine and they should immediately go on a hunt... Such back and forth went on for a few minutes.

Seeing that they would not be able to decide like that, they both made a compromise and decided to go on a hunt in the evening. 

With the help of Leona, the hunt went smoother than before. They didn't even have to waste as many Energy points as the first time.

So they became a little daring and hunted another Quogoa before returning to their foothold: the cave, where a large spatial array was situated. 

The reason they couldn't simply make a camp outside was that another Quogoa could spot them.

Yes, they were afraid of ambush. But it was not just that.

What if that Quogoa told the guards and then the guards told the boss about them?

Mark shuddered thinking about what would happen if they met that cunning boss monster. No, he didn't even want to think.

Hence they silently went to their foothold before night. Which could only be accessed using a specific mechanism. 

Just like that, they went on hunting every day for two weeks. On their tenth day, they were even able to hunt six Quogoas. But Mark knew it was the best they could gain using the current method. Unfortunately, it was not enough. 

Because they all had to advance at least once to be able to fight against F-rank guards, who were guarding the treasury. 

And for advancing once, they all needed a total of 6000 H-rank cores. But according to the pace, they were going… it would take them 1000 days!! 

Mark was sure, if they continued at the same pace, they would be captured by the seven royal families long before gathering 6000 H-rank cores.

Understanding his worries, his party members showed a similar reaction. 

"Hence now we will have to change our method." With that Mark ended his explanation. 

They all frowned.

It had taken a great effort and courage for them to fight against the Quogoas. After all, they were just regular people before Mark's awakening. And from the sound of it, it was clear that the new method would be riskier.

"And what will be our new method?" Leona asked. There was no point in just being afraid, they first had to know what exactly Mark wanted them to do.

"It's really simple," Mark said. "We will have to reduce our reliance on skills and spells." 

"Haah, I knew it," Leona sighed.

Everyone looked toward her. 

"Well, I have seen a few times how other awakeneds fights," She explained. "And trust me. Unlike us, they don't use skills every time they want to defend or attack."

"It will be hard," Catherine smiled bitterly. "We have seen firsthand how physically strong even H-rank beasts are." 

"Ah!! Is that why you asked us to master weapon art, son?" Melanie suddenly interjected.

Weapon arts were different than weapon skills. Unlike skills, they didn't need any Aura Points to perform, nor did they give any miraculous boosts. 

Instead, weapon arts were all about efficiency. It taught how someone could use their weight, momentum, and even terrain to efficiently kill enemies. Of course, as the name suggested, weapons were the main components of these arts. 

When Mark's party members spent all of their mana/aura points to learn skills, then he would ask them to practice their weapon arts. Which he had bought from the [Shop].

"What about us?" Eleanor asked while pointing towards herself and Catherine. He had not bought any weapon art for either of them. 

"Well, your classes won't give you high physical stats that weapon art requires," Mark said.

"Right," Catherine nodded. "And mom, right now we can't spend coins with low returns. So…"

"I get it," Eleanor waved her hand dismissively.

She seemed upset. It was quite unusual for Eleanor to behave like this. Most of the time, she always had a smile on her face. But her smile was becoming smaller and smaller for the past few days. Though others didn't notice because the difference was too small, and they didn't pay much attention to Eleanor as he did.

Mark made a mental note to ask about it later. 

"Mother," Mark had just called out to Melanie when she nodded and stealthily went towards the exit. 

It took her around 15 minutes to come back. Then she informed him about the number of guards, their positions etcetera. 

Based on her information, Mark decided the route and which Quogoas they were going to target.

Once the plan for today was made, Mark and the others got ready for the hunt. Now, they were doing it for 16 days and had gotten a little used to the process. 

That's why no one seemed nervous. Though they were vigilant and did not seem overly relaxed either. 

Mark 'willed' his energy points towards his forefinger. He pressed that finger on a seemingly ordinary spot on the cave wall, and… They vanished. 

When Mark and the others opened their eyes, they were on the opposite side of the same wall. Their teleportation was so swift and smooth, other spatial mages would have been shocked. 

Even Mark was also shocked the first time, but now he only felt admiration towards the 'demi-god' who created it. Unfortunately, Mark and Catherine couldn't find much regarding that. 

Once outside, Melanie led them toward their first target. 

It was not a smooth journey at all. Even though they had already prepared the safest route for today, they still met a few Quogoa guards patrolling the route. 

It was not like those guards were too powerful for them to handle. No, they could take care of four such guards daily. But Mark was more worried about what would happen if their deaths were investigated. Since it would lead to him and his party members. 

That's why they made sure to hide before the guards could even have any inkling about them.

Unsurprisingly, Melanie contributed the most… And just like that, they found their first target of the day.
