The next day.

The orange sun was setting behind Mark's back, while he was walking with a frown plastered on his handsome face.

"Sigh... I am sorry, Mark. I forced you to come with me when you clearly didn't want to." Leona — his half-sister and Melanie's daughter — said with slumped shoulders.

"It's fine, sis. You won the bet, and I agreed. It was not your fault." Mark sighed, looking at his sister.

Leona was two months older than him, and her height was 5'11 tall, just an inch lower than Mark. Though they had same father, both of them looked completely different.

Mark had inherited his features from his mom, Eleanor. While Leona looked a complete copy of Leonard, with blonde hair and crimson eyes.

Most people said that she had even inherited his father's talent in swords, and she would be a battle genius like his father, after awakening.

Mark also wholeheartedly agreed with this hypothesis. The way his sister learned different weapons like a walk in the park was indeed astonishing for him.

Unfortunately, she had not awakened yet, hence it was still a hypothesis. After all, learning to use normal weapons and using Aura to activate skills, were two completely different things.

At his response, Leona showed even more guilty expressions. She clenched her fists, and grounded her teeths. "I will kill her!!"

"Tsk sis, you need to calm down a little," Mark said while giving her a reassuring smile. "I really didn't mind what your master said."

"For your information, she is not my master anymore," Leona snorted. She had already given her admission token back in anger. Now, she couldn't call herself a student of her former master, even if she wanted to.

"Sigh, why are you always so hasty in making decisions?" Mark was really having a headache because of his unruly and wild sister.

If she would have decided to take a decision for herself, he was completely fine with it. It was her life, and she had all rights to take her decisions.

But she chose to return the token because of him, and it didn't sit well with Mark. After all, Leona's master... or former master was an A-Level sword dancer. Leona had literally thrown such a good opportunity because of a small matter. At least it was a small matter in Mark's eyes.

Leona narrowed her ruby like eyes. "Do you really think I could go and learn sword from someone who called my brother a-a... A C-cow..." She looked around for help, like she was having difficulty to say the word in front of him.

'Is she thinking a mere word would hurt me?' Mark was speeches. Was he some kind of delicate doll in his sister's eyes? 'But she looks really cute when she behaves so clumsily.'

Leona was a confident girl. Though not exactly brilliant in head department, she was best when it came to physical activities like sports. So looking at such a girl behave like this was a rare sight for Mark.

"A coward." Mark said casually, like it was not a big deal.

"Yes that!!" Leona looked at him as if he had saved her life. But then, her expressions distorted. "How dare she call my brother 'that'? She didn't even let you hold a sword before giving her judgement. Did she think she would insult you without any reason and I will let her!!?"

According to Leona, her former master just wanted to insult Mark by calling him a coward. But Mark thought otherwise.

After all, why would Leona's master go out of her way to insult him? It didn't make sense. She must have better things to do. Right?

And she didn't dismiss him by just calling him a coward. She said, she didn't want to teach someone who would only cower in the face of death.

But why would she say that for no reason? She taught thousands of talented students, she must have an eye for such things. Right?

Hence, Mark began to think extensively while walking back to his home with his sister, and he noticed few things.

He had never realized before, but he was always subconsciously avoiding anything to do with fighting.

For example, when Leona asked him to come learn sword with her. He had always refused, and told her he would go after awakening. After all, no one knew what class they would awaken so it was a waste of time.

Which was indeed truth, and he presented a sound logic. But in normal circumstances he would have gone even if just to make Leona happy. So why did he always want to avoid it, and reluctantly went with her only when she won a bet against him.

This didn't make sense to him, and that was not all. He could recall at least 10 times, when he tried to avoid fighting with his life on the line, no matter what.

Was he really a coward? No, being cautious didn't meant he was a coward, but it was too abnormal for him to let it slide like that.

'Sigh, did I go through some childhood trauma?'

Mark had considered many options including this one, but he couldn't remember such event at all. But he had decided to reach the root of this problem.

Soon, they reached home, and saw an 18 years old beautiful girl with black hair and crimson eyes just outside their house.

She was Cathrine. Mark's little sister. It seemed she was waiting for them.

"Where are you both coming from?" Cathrine asked, as soon as they reached in front of the door.

Leona looked uncomfortable, but Mark didn't hesitate and told Catherine everything. He knew his little sister was intelligent. After all, Cathrine had gotten scholarship and admission in Royal Academy of research just based on the theory, she was currently working on.

People assumed she had gotten her great mind because of her father. Which was somewhat true, but Mark also knew how hard she had been working behind the scenes.

For example, even on Sundays, she went to academy to continue her experiments. Catherine never took more break than necessary. He was really proud of his little sister.

After he had finished reiterating what had transpired, Cathrine seemed to be in deep thought. She didn't show a big reaction like Leona, neither did she get angry.

It wasn't because Catherine didn't care about him. He was sure, she did.

"Cat, it aroused your curiosity. Right?" Mark smirked at Catherine.

She was startled, but then looked at him in embarrassment. "It's just a little... odd. That's why."

'Telling her was a right decision.' Mark mentally patted himself in the back. He knew there was clearly something wrong with this whole situation, and who would be best person to help him othar than his genuis little sister?

Since Mark knew his sister was a little tired, they decided to find the reason the next day. Next, they had dinner with their mothers, and went to sleep peacefully as usual.

Unfortunately, the peace was short lived.
