Chapter 22: From another perspective

My name is Ricardo Gold, for generations my family has been responsible for defending the edge of the kingdom.

As a child, I thought this was too heavy a responsibility and was a little afraid of my position.

Until one day I saw my father defending the fief on the battlefield.

I began to participate in battles as well, with each battle, the bond with the soldiers increased, as did the admiration that the people of the fief felt for me.

I could feel a little of what my father felt and I understood why he always worked hard, but had a smile on his face.

While I was almost graduating from the academy, I was together with my father fighting and defending the fief from the monsters.

In this battle, monsters stronger than normal appeared, my father defended against the attacks in order to save the soldiers who needed to retreat to regroup.

The monster managed to wound my father, but he wouldn't stop fighting, when I saw what was happening I ran to help him.

Together with my father we managed to defeat the monsters, at the end of the battle my father fainted, but he fainted with an expression of satisfaction and happiness.

The soldiers, seeing my father faint, ran to his support.

Everyone did their best to take care of him.

Everyone was concerned about his health.

Because of the size of the wound, it took a long time for him to recover.

During this time I was responsible for the fief. Everyone helped me, especially Rosemary, who was my fiancée at the time.

Due to the amount of injuries and the depth of some of them, my father needed a year to be healed.

When he was healed, he gave me the rank of margrave.
