Death.

Death is something that we, as people, have never been able to escape. Regardless of how hard we try, we will always have that inevitable fate, creeping closer and closer with every second that passes. Every second of the day is practically a gamble with life, as you never know what will happen.

In one moment, you could be playing a video game with a friend. Another moment could be you getting beaten to death.

Every moment that passes,

Leads to a new event.

I would know this very well.

My life. I practically sent it straight to hell the moment I turned fifteen. I killed him and her out of greed. I didn’t want them to be happy while I was stuck in a depressive state that I couldn’t escape from.

The blood on my hands. The blood on the floor The blood... it was everywhere.

After that, I returned home as if it was no big deal. I, of course, never told my family about it as they would send me straight to prison for such a thing. There are no exceptions. If you take someone’s life, prepare for your own to be taken. That is how the world works.

Naturally, the police arrived at my house a few moments later, and the next moment, I was sent to prison for murder.

There was no denying that I was the one that killed those two innocent people. With a smile on my face, I openly told them that it was very true. The looks on their faces were so disturbing. However, they handcuffed me and took me to prison.

Life is something that you should be able to look at with a grain of salt. You never truly know where your life is going to be headed. When I was fifteen, forty years ago, I never thought I would become a cold-blooded murderer just for somebody being happy.

Looking up at the ceiling of the prison cell that I was in, I took a deep breath.

There are many things in life that I regret. In and out of prison, of course. I have only met with my parents once ever since I was arrested, and I told them to never come to visit me again. I got what I deserved, I said to them. Indeed, I did indeed get what I deserved.

For taking one person’s life.

My life should be taken as well.

My jail cell is open with this. The guard was standing there with a knife in his hands.

This is what I wanted.

Life is fragile, there is no other way to put it. Anyone can die or have their life pass them by. With this in mind, I can only wish for another chance, yearning to become a shining star in the universe... In other terms, I want to improve myself.

However, as I am dying, there is no way to do that. It is either this or being stuck in a prison cell in which I cannot prove that I have become a better human being.
