Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Visiting the Queen

After Lily got her fill of cookies. She and Chloe thanked Adam and left the kitchen. Like earlier, many maids that passed by bid good morning to the princess. While waking Chloe started up a conversation.

“So, what do you want to do next princess? There is still about 2 hours to go before we attend lunch with your parents.” Chloe asked as she walked beside her. Lily thought for a bit before her face lit up with an idea. 

“I want to see mommy!” She exclaimed happily. Chloe smiled softly and replied with a simple “ok”.

The two walked through the halls of the castle until they reached Mahina’s workplace. Chloe then motioned for the princess to knock which Lily complex and gave the wooden door three taps. 

“Come in” a soft voice came from the room to which the two knew it was Lily’s mother.

Lily pushed the heavy looking wooden door with ease. Chloe was mildly impressed, but that completely faded once she reminded herself that Lily was a dragon kin like her parents and therefore, she has strength that can rival that of human adults even if she was just 3 years old.

Inside the room were furniture you would typically see in an office. Filing cabinets that house the documents of the royal family and the different papers they have to approve such as new laws and building requests. 

In the middle of a room was a large wooden desk and the person who was sitting at the chair which was on the other side of the table was the queen herself wearing a pair of glasses so that she could read the documents clearly. Mahina then raised her head to see who her visitors were and her face lit up seeing it was her daughter. Suddenly, all her worries and stress vanished like it never existed when she gazed up at her daughter wearing a big smile.

“Lily, Chloe, What brings you to my office?” She asked while taking off her glasses and placing them on the table.

“Lily just wanted to visit you, your majesty,” Chloe answered as Lily stepped forward to the center of the room, her gaze fixated on the number of papers that were on her mother’s desk.

“Do you need help mommy?” Lily asked while picking up a fallen paper that was on the ground and handing it to her mother.

“I’m sorry sweety, but you can't manage all of this. Especially because you have yet to hit the right age to understand it all” She answered while grabbing the paper from her daughter’s hands and placing it in its respective pile. Lily’s face suddenly frowned in sadness and the queen was quick to pick the situation back up.

“Well, I guess I have enough time for a short break, what do you want to do with mommy?” Mahina got up from her seat and hugged her daughter to which Lily returned  her affection with a cute giggle.

“Can you teach me about magic mommy?” Lily’s eyes lit up in anticipation but the queen quickly shot that idea down.

“I’m sorry lily, but you are far too young to learn about magic. If we teach you now you might not be able to control it and end up blowing the entire castle to smithereens.” Mahina gave her reason to not teach Lily any magic yet but she is determined to teach her once she reaches the right age to control the amount of magic that was stored inside her body.

Lily was a bit sad to learn that she needed a few more years before she could learn magic. She eventually accepted it and her face regained its smile to which Mahina sighed in relief. 

“When you arrive at the age of seven, after you undergo the magical compatibility test. Then I will start to teach you some magic and hire the best magician in our kingdom to teach you. Does that sound better?” Mahina then hugged her daughter a bit tighter to which Lily replied with a big smile.

“Yes mommy!” She exclaimed excitedly as she turned around in her mother’s embrace and hugged her back.

“I’m glad to hear it, run along now. I still have to finish these documents by lunch today. After that I'm free for the afternoon and we play any game you would like” Mahina released Lily from her embrace and sat down back on her chair.

“Okay mommy! We’ll see you later then!” Lily exclaimed as she skipped towards Chloe who was waiting at the door. Once Lily left, Chloe gave a bow to the queen and also left, following Lily as she slowly shut the door behind them.
