The incident with Gina and Guard's Captain was over. The Guard's Captain died on the spot. And the guards took Matthew's minions to the torture chamber.

Ethan dismissed the crowds after promoting Gina to the post of Guard's Captain as per he promised. He ordered the guards to capture the old man and the kid for further questioning because he wanted to know the reason behind their false confession.

'It's better to be careful. Can't trust this old man or kid without investigating more. In this war-ridden world, anything could happen. Who knows, these two might just turn out to be the real mastermind,' Ethan thought. He was about to release the framed prisoners, but he was feeling uneasiness in his heart, a doubt that he couldn't put his finger on.

"Muller, you are up..."

Ethan ordered Muller to carry out a search operation to uncover every shred of evidence relating to the assassination attempt on his life from Matthew and the traitors' houses.

"I... I will help... Arggg!!!"

Gina tried to walk toward Ethan but fell to her knees, grabbing her chest while breathing hard. She was gasping for air, and her ribs were fractured. She was in great pain, but weirdly she was still conscious. It might be related to her newly awakened abilities.

"Hell no!!! You can barely walk. Don't push yourself," said Ethan with a worried expression after seeing blood trickling down from Gina's nose and mouth. He was concerned about her condition, "Take her to the doctor and patch her up. Make sure she doesn't leave her bed until she is completely healed." He ordered the guards, standing behind Gina.

Gina wanted to help with the operation, but she suffered critical internal injuries and got a few broken bones. So, Ethan forced her to retire and get medical attention.

"Roger!!!" Two guards ran like a gust of wind and brought a stretcher. Muller helped his daughter lay on the stretcher, and the guards departed for the doctor's chamber.

Muller also left with his team. He made five groups, including his, and ordered them to search Matthew's minions and the previous Guard's Captain's house. While he went directly to Matthew's house and saw that his fake family had disappeared long ago.

The guards searched Matthew and his team's houses. They found four chambers, hidden under their houses, filled with boxes of water bottles, dry fruits, dried meat, and alcohol bottles. All the resources they had embezzled from others were stored there.

"Those bastards. Look at all these boxes. All these foods can feed the entire fortress for six months, and there will still be some extras," Muller was overseeing the search in Matthew's house. He couldn't believe his eyes even after seeing the situation.

The guards were stunned after seeing the massive amount of resources. They were cursing Matthew and his minions while carrying the boxes out of the hidden chamber.

Muller and his team recovered all the resources. But they didn't find anything related to poison and assassination attempts. They carried the resources to the storehouse after checking for contamination and poison. Luckily, the traitors didn't tamper with the resources.

[Meanwhile, in the torture chamber]

'So, this is the torture house,' Ethan thought. He was standing before a house that looked like all other houses around the fortress. There was nothing special about it except the large signboard with the torture chamber written in red paint, 'They even made a sign board. Haha!!! These lunatics.' He smiled.

The guard who was sitting beside the door jumped up after seeing Ethan. He ran toward the entrance and opened the door, "Miss Allison is waiting for you with the traitors..." said the guard in a wavering voice. He was nervous because this was his first time conversing with the Boss face-to-face.

Ethan entered the house and saw that it was completely empty inside. There was a hatch on the ground, 'Ah!!! A hidden torture chamber!' He opened the hatch and saw dimly lighted stairs.

Ethan carefully climbed down the stairs. There were dust and cobwebs on the wall. The stairs were made of metal and looked sturdy. He felt a shiver, thinking about how he was going to make Matthew and the others cough up everything without spilling blood. In his heart, he knew that sooner or later, he would have to spill blood, to survive.

Finally, Ethan was standing inside the torture chamber. The stench of blood in the air made him feel a little nauseous. There were many types of torture equipment, like stun bells, stun batons, spike batons, neck cuffs, restrain chairs, and many more.

'What's that?' Ethan heard a screeching sound coming from a nearby big box covered with a black cloth. He walked over and lifted the cover, 'Freaking hell!!!' It was a cage filled with rats and mice, 'Rat torture!!! That's brutal...'

Ethan noticed a closet beside the rat cage. He quickly covered the cage in disgust and opened the closet, 'What do we have here?' He wondered. There were highly concentrated alcohol bottles inside the closet.

'This is... Bed of Anguish!!! They even have iron maiden!' Ethan rushed over to the wooden bed with nails and then to the iron maiden. He noticed dried blood on the spikes of the iron maiden, 'F*ck!!! Don't they clean up?' He shook his head, thinking about the poor bastard who died inside that device. He looked around and noticed dark red patches on the floor, which looked like dried blood.

'They even have a guillotine!'

Ethan was astonished after seeing various torture devices which he only saw in books and movies. He was so busy examining one device from another that he forgot about the job at hand, and he was smiling with a sinister expression.

Matthew's eyes fell on Ethan through the gap in the half-open door. He was strapped in a chair after doctors patched up his wounds, 'The f*ck!!! Is he...? Don't tell me... That wicked smile and the way he is examining those devices... He is going to use them on me!!!'

Matthew peed his pants while shivering in fear. He thought that Boss was going to kill him in one go, sparing him the pain, but after seeing the wicked smile on his face, Matthew became sure that Boss planned to skin him alive, making him suffer a slow and painful death.

[Baaam] Allison noticed Matthew peed his pants. She walked over and gave him a hard punch, breaking a couple of his teeth, "How dare you dirty the floor? We haven't even started the party..."

"Arggg!!!" Matthew screamed in pain.

"Shut the f*ck up," Allision took a piece of cloth, stuffed it in Matthew's mouth, and taped it sealed.

Ethan heard Matthew's scream. He stopped looking at those devices and quickly adjusted his composure. He entered the room with a cold expression and looked into Matthew's eyes with a smirk, "You saw that, right? Well, don't worry... We got plenty of free time. And you, my friend... You will tell me what I want to know."

"Heekkk!!!" Matthew was trembling in fear.

Matthew was cursing his comrades, who had been disguising themselves as his family, for leaving him alone to die. He couldn't believe that the ones he had been taking care of for years had abandoned him and run away.

"Say, Allison. Isn't it better to strip him naked and throw him in public? How do you think they will react?" said Ethan with a wicked smile while scanning the room and the expressions of the prisoners.

"Well, Boss... I remember one incident," Allision began to explain.

It happened three years ago during the rule of the previous fortress master. There was a spy disguised as a fighter slave who was spilling information to outsiders, and he got caught one day. So the fortress master investigated the matter and found that he was planning to poison the well to kill everyone.

The spy's plan was to kill everyone or at least make them render useless so that the outer forces could come in and kill them all and take the remaining resources for themselves. The fortress master revealed this information to the public. Then threw the spy in front of them and ordered them to judge him as they see it fit since he was planning to kill everyone.

"I can still remember that day as if it was yesterday. That spy was stoned to death. I can still hear his agony-filled scream as he tried to run away. But he died at the fortress entrance," said Allison with a grim expression.

Since Allison has a bad past, she doesn't like to remember those bad memories. However, she made an exception, noticing her Boss's plan to scare the prisoners. So, she spilled a true story from her past.

"You hear that Matthew... Do you think you can survive that? Huh? How about this? If you make it out of the fortress's entrance... I will let you go," said Ethan with a jolly smile. He was thanking Allison in his heart for helping with a story good enough to scare the shit out of Matthew.

Matthew was shaking his head in fear. He couldn't even yell or scream with his stuffed mouth.

"Oh!!! I get it you want your friend here to get that chance, right? To think you are so loyal to your friends," Ethan said as he walked over to Matthew's minions.
