Matthew shook his head sideways, implying that he didn't know the answer to the question asked by Micheal. After all, his mother and father didn't know much of anything about magic, and the Wizard that visited his village last month hadn't said a word about this.
And so, of course Matthew hadn't even the slightest idea about what Micheal - his magic tutor - was talking about. So, he waited for Micheal to speak. The young green haired Magician, shook his head, a little disappointed, before he said.
"As I already said, there are seven types of magic! My main affinity is Earth, if you were familiar with the system of the Eight Edge Star symbol used, you could have answered my question, and already figured out my two other secondary types of magic!".
"Anyway, let me teach you about this Eight Edge Star system first!", said Micheal, before he called on a servant that was passing by the two of them. A minute later, that servant returned with a pen, and a notebook as well, after which, he went back to his work.
Micheal sat on a bench, and Matthew sat across him from the other side, between them was a table, on which, Micheal put the notebook, and started drawing the eight edge star, a star that had, instead of the usual five, eight edges, just like the directions used by everyone. In other words, and Octagram.
Up, on the edge that was used to depict the north, the young green haired Magician, wrote Air, before he said, "This is where the type Air, is placed, next, to it's right, where the western north is, we have, Fire!".
Micheal then continued, the west had the Earth written on it. The western south, had Ice. Next, Micheal skipped the south for some reason, and continued on to the eastern south, where he wrote Light, then to the east, where he wrote, Water.
And finally, the eastern north, where Darkness was written. With that, aside from the south position, all other seven edges of the star symbol Micheal had drawn, had a type of magic written on them.
The seven types of magic were now all positioned. The young Magician looked at Matthew, and asked him again, "What do you think should be written on the southern edge of the star, I've filled in all the seven types of magic, so there is no other type to write, or, do you think it's just like that? It stays empty?".
Matthew looked at the star symbol, and all the seven types of Magic, as he thought to himself. 'I don't think the Magicians would use an eight edge star to depict seven types, if they didn't have something for the eight position, and so, I don't think it stays empty!'.
'But, as teacher asked what should be written on it... Think, I can't just keep disappointing him, I have to figure it out by myself, so... hah! I got it, I remember teacher saying it earlier, I am sure this is the answer!'.
With that, Matthew smiled confidently, as he responded to his magic tutor's question, "It's all the types, I don't know the word used for it, but it should be the place that gives you all seven types at once! You said so earlier, so, am I right, teacher?".
It was at moments like this, that Matthew returned to being a normal child. He had finally "Gotten" over the Black Fire incident, and now, he was very happy and excited to learn about magic, and when learning, who didn't want to get praised by his teacher? Who didn't want to figure out the answer without help?
The green haired Micheal smiled, and sighed a sigh of relief, as he thought to himself, 'I was starting to think this kid is only blessed with the One Power, and is actually an idiot that will be hard to teach, but I guess that's not true! To be honest, I am disappointed so far, but in actuality, there is no chance this boy would have come across this kind of information!'.
'And, I do have to remember, that he is still only seven year old!'. With that, Micheal said, "Good! That's right, the eighth edge, the southern edge of the star, is used to depict the all types of magic, it is so rare to get all types, that it became a type of its own in magic!".
"We refer to it as follows!", with that, the young Magician started writing on the edge that represented the south. He wrote, while he chuckled a little, "Genius". Matthew looked at what was written - Matthew could already read, since he was taught by his mother and father how to do it since a young age - and started laughing.
"Yup! They truly do call it that, I guess they didn't want to waste time creating a cool name for it!", said the magic tutor, while still chuckling over what he just wrote. "Hahaha! I guess even learning magic can be funny!", said Matthew, as he finally stopped laughing at the weird name given to this supposed eight type of magic.
Micheal's expression then returned to being a serious one, as he said, "Anyway, to figure out my two other types of magic, it is truly simple, you only need to know my main one, which, as I told you, is Earth, with that info, you need to look at the main type's right, and left, those are the two secondary types of any Magician with three attributes!".

Matthew took another look at the star symbol, then said, "Then your two other types of magic, are Ice and Fire?". Micheal answered the young boy in the next second, "Yes, those are my two other types of magic! You should be happy that I have Fire as another type of mine, and that I have trained my skills in it quite a lot!".
"Else, it would be hard to teach you Fire spells, after all, it's best to learn from someone that trains the same types you want to train! You have a Fire type, did the Wizard that passed by your village last month, the supposed, Truth Seeker, determine your types of magic?".
Matthew shook his head again, as he said, "No, he didn't, he also didn't tell me about magic types, he only taught me how to use the spell Fire Bolt! I, I have a question teacher, can I ask something?".
Micheal first shook his head, as he mumbled to himself, "He is a Wizard after all, not a Magician, ahm! Yeah, ask away!". Matthew didn't really hear what Micheal said first, since it was said in silence, and so, he only nodded, and asked what he wanted to know, "Ahm! So, if you don't have an affinity to a certain type of magic, like your teacher, doesn't have an affinity in Air magic, can you still learn it?".
Micheal smiled, as he responded with, "Theoretically, yes! Since, if we were to give percentages to our types, your main type would be a 56%, and your two other secondary types would be 20%! If you do the math, that leaves another 4%, right?".
Matthew nodded his head, and waited for his teacher to continue, "That four %, is divided equally among the other four types left from the seven! As for the Genius type, you either have a 100%, or 0%!".
"And so, as I said, you can learn the other types, but, it will be so difficult, that you might as well say you can't actually do it! first off, even the secondary types, which have 20% each, are already going to take some time to learn, so just try imagining how hard it would be to do it with 1%?".
"It would be like just wasting time for nothing, after all, why waste time on such a useless thing, when you can learn to use your main, and secondary types?". Micheal, the young Magician, didn't give the seven-year-old a chance to speak, as he continued, "And now, time for the biggest shock, and the thing that makes pretty much anyone born with the Genius type, a Genius!".
"That type, not only gives you access to all types, but, it also gives all seven types, 100%, on the scale used by Magicians!". Matthew, couldn't believe what he had just heard, he barely smiled, and said, "I guess that's why they call it, the Genius type!".
Micheal chuckled a bit at Matthew's small joke, before he returned to being serious again, as he said, "Now, to know how many types you have, and which is which, we have to perform the spell called, Type! A special spell created by a Wizard, this is a spell that uses only the One Power, and doesn't need the seven types of magic!".
Matthew looked like he was a little shocked to hear that such a spell existed, he then asked, "So, this spell was created by a Wizard, then, how does it do it?". Micheal smiled a scary smile, and said, "This will hurt a little, but you have to bear with it, can you do that?"?
He continued before the little boy could even fully grasp what he'd been just told, "If we don't perform this spell, well, it will be a very hard process to try and become a Magician, as for any dreams you had on becoming a great Magician, well, you can just forget about those now!".
Matthew gulped, then made up his mind, especially after he remembered what happened to his parents, and how he had promised to try his best in destroying the Black Tower.
As well as the Black Emperor, if he ever returns. Matthew had already started the historic book that depicted what actually happened at the Battle of Hope, and so far, it was so shocking, that he was barely able to stop reading it, and come train. The orphanage had a small library for the workers, and children above the age of 11, were obliged to attend to it every day, to learn how to read and write.
But, since Matthew already knew how to do that, and also had a special position inside the orphanage, he was gifted the right to enter the library whenever he wanted, and choose a book to read. With the recommendation of Max, he started reading the same book that had destroyed her resolve for vengeance.
Matthew looked at his teacher, as he nodded and said, "Okay, I understand. You can start casting the spell, I am ready for it!". With that, Matthew took a small breath, then waited for his magic tutor to start casting the spell called, Type.
