Chapter 54: The Ranbos heir

Max had just stabbed the fat and greasy man in the back. The man was so preoccupied with attacking Matthew, that, for a second, he had forgotten he had been fighting against two people, and not just one.

Matthew took this moment, to attack with his black sword, but, even though the man had just been impaled by a sharp small dagger, he was still able to defend himself with his white sword.

Max took out the dagger and was blasted away with a Gust of Wind made by the nine-year-old, and then, an air wall appeared to defend her, if the man were to attack again. While the two swords, of reverse colors, clashed again.

The man had a little blood seeping through his mouth, he smiled, as he retreated a little, and said, "Young boy, you're something, aren't you, now? You've been fighting with me, and have even proved, that for the most part, you're my equal!".

He then let the white sword in his hands disappear into the one power, and continued, as he said, "How about we end it here? You're not really going to kill me, because you're not a killer, so, I will pay you a sum of money, and let's say it's a truce?".

"How does that sound? Not good enough? Then I will publicly apologize to you, so?". Matthew gave him a cold look, as he said, "You're not apologizing to her, but to me? Not giving her the money, but me? Well, you're very wrong, I have just killed my first person, so, how about I make you my second?".

The man could only look at the young boy in shock, he couldn't believe what he was hearing, 'Dammit! I know he hasn't used his strongest spells yet, not like I have, but I don't want to risk it, my guard is still fighting his, so I can't count on him!'.

'And then, even though she isn't strong, she was still able to injure me, I have no healing potions with me, while that young boy seems to have more, I can't risk this, I have to convince him to stop this, the Ankston family, han? I will make sure to make you pay for this!'.

Still, no matter what he said, Matthew responded coldly, and even attacked with more fireballs, the man had enough, and said, "If that's what you truly want, then so be it!". With that, the man summoned three ice spears, and let them distract the young boy, while he cast another spell.

A huge amount of the one power went to him, and in a flash, it transformed into a three-meter floating white sword, that was then directed to Matthew. The young boy smiled after the shadow tentacles destroyed the third ice spear, he then also summoned forth a huge amount of the one power and created a small wind tornado.

The White sword flew toward the nine-year-old, but, it was stopped by the small wind tornado, that ate it up like some piece of candy, the sword disappeared with the tornado. The man's eyes constricted, he couldn't believe that one of his strongest spells was dispelled just like that.

Matthew smiled, as he created a big hand out of the air, which he used to punch the fat and greasy man. A light wall came forth to try and stop the wind fist, but to no avail, as it was shattered in one blow, but, the air punch continued forward, destroying an ice shield this time around.

Finally, it came in front of the man, who, this time, created a water shield, and finally managed to block the wind fist, but, as soon as he was done with that, he noticed that a black sword was coming for him.

He was barely able to evade that attack, though, just like earlier, he felt something sharp pierce his back, another time. He turned to find the young girl fleeing with a small dagger that was covered in blood, his blood.

The man smiled, as he thought, 'Hah! Two kids are winning against me, is this how I die?'. He then evaded the incoming attack of the black sword, the sword wielded by Matthew. Still, the tentacles took a hold of the man's two arms and broke them.

The man growled in pain, he couldn't handle it, and dropped to the ground, crying from the pain, the shadow tentacles hadn't let go of him yet, they held his legs this time, and broke them instead.

Matthew, smiled, as he said, "Do you know how to manipulate the one power without your hands? I don't think so, actually, most magicians don't, it's hard to learn, but not that hard, most magicians think that it's not needed, but I, I do know how to do it!".

"My teacher taught me how to, he said that I would need it someday, it still hasn't come for me, but it seems like it has for you, so, how are you going to try and escape now? My big brother is taking care of your guard, you're all alone here with us!".

He had been defeated by two kids, and, since he didn't know how to do magic without his hands, he couldn't do anything at the moment, aside from..." Please don't kill me, I will do anything, just please, don't kill me!", Beg!

Matthew looked at the man, then ignored him, as his sight fell on the 16-year-old that was making her way to them. She wore normal clothes that were a little ripped, in her hand was a small dagger covered with blood, and her eyes were filled with tears.

She looked at the fat and greasy man, and you could see the fires of revenge burning in her eyes. She reached where the man and Matthew were, but before the nine-year-old could say anything, he heard a cling!

The man's head rolled on the ground, and blood spattered everywhere. Max had just killed him. Matthew didn't know how to react, he remembered earlier when he killed Robert, the man in normal clothes, he had forgotten all about that, as he didn't have time to think about it.

And, neither did he know, he said, "Max, stay here, I have to make sure Vin is okay!". Max nodded, but didn't look at him, instead, she kept looking at the small dagger in her hand, and then at the head of the fat and greasy man on the ground.

Matthew felt bad for leaving her at such a moment, but, he had no choice, he had to make sure his big brother Vin was okay, so, he made his way outside the room, only to be shocked by what he found.

Nero Ankston looked at the Cavias family soldiers coming inside the orphanage, and then, at his chief of guards, Gleeward, who was coming with them. Besides Nero, were his guards, and behind them, were all the children of the orphanage, some of them were crying, and some didn't understand what was happening. As for the very young ones, they continued their sleep.

Finally, the Fierce Lion came inside, and he said, "We've finished the mission, but, a small problem happened!". Nero blinked, then asked, "Umm! What do you mean by that?".

The Fierce Lion took off his yellow lion helmet, smiled, and then said, "Our heirs have disappeared!". Nero let out a small chuckle, as he said, "I don't see the Black Lion, I guess he went after them?".

John Cavias nodded, and Nero let out a sigh, "Good, then it is a small problem, isn't it?". Gleeward also smiled, as he thought of the young nine-year-old.

Back where Matthew and Asvin were. The nine-year-old felt a tinge of shock when he went outside the room. What he saw, was the following, "Asvin on the ground, covered in blood, but not his blood, instead, the muscular man's blood!".

There was a black sword pierced into the man's heart, this sword looked more like a Katana, a type of sword created in an empire situated far from here. The man, holding this black katana, was wearing normal black adventurers' attire.

He also had a particular type of metal mask on, it covered his entire head, was black, and resembled the head of a dog, a type of dog that looked more like a wolf than a dog, and the eyes were painted red.

This man also had a short black sword in his other hand, this one looked more like a needle since it was very thin. Matthew looked at the man for a second, as a thought appeared in his mind, 'The Shadow Assassin!'.
