Chapter 58: One year later

Time passed quickly, and just like that, a year had already passed by. During that year, Matthew became a better mage, especially after he fought against the Ranbos heir since he gained a bit of experience from that fight.

He applied the way he fought then, to all his fights against his master, who had revealed something that Matthew didn't accept for an entire month, that he was, in fact, the Green Mage, one of the two strongest magic casters in the kingdom of Dectrium.

Rosin was training with him, and even though she was very slow -Especially since she was still a kid, and even though Matthew was the same, he was way more talented than her in magic - but she still learned to cast three spells in this past year, the casting time takes some time, but not much.

It was determined, by the spell Type, that she also had three magic attributes, like pretty much everyone, and her attributes were, Darkness, Water, and Light, with Water being her main type.

Also, since Micheal was revealed to be the Green Mage, Matthew found out that Earth being his main type was only a lie, since his main type was in actuality Air, with him having six types of magic, the only one he was missing, was Light.

He was one of the rare people who were born with six of the seven types of magic. The reason he was lying - Though he never actually lied, since his real name, was Micheal - was that he didn't want the whole kingdom to come to see the young boy whom he was training.

The Green Mage was a commoner, who was very much hated by the nobles, after all, unlike the Yellow Sun, who was deserving of his title, since he was a noble, the Green Mage wasn't, and he was considered to be a better magician.

Something that greatly upset the nobles of the kingdom, after all, it meant someone of the commoner race - As most nobles like to call them - was, in fact, the best magician.

With that, the Green Mage wanted to help someone who needed nurturing, and that's why he volunteered, under the pretense that he was a normal magician, to teach for a cheap amount, with that, it happened that Robert, the man in normal clothes, employed him for the job.

And with that, he met a truly talented young boy, he thought when he was offered the job, that he might find a normal boy, but what he met, wasn't just a talented boy, but a boy that had a connection to the Cavias family, and now, to the Ankston family.

Also, for most people not recognizing the Green Mages's appearance, that was very simple indeed, not many people knew what the guy looked like, Micheal preferred to not reveal his features to anyone, to stay hidden, and so, he operated under the identity of a normal magician.

He only revealed his identity to Nero Ankston, to convince him to let him teach Matthew since after two years with the talented young boy, he wanted to continue teaching him, but his father didn't approve, only after knowing his real identity did he agree.

He didn't reveal his identity to Matthew, to not have that entire month of not progressing much, but, after the Fierce Lion agreed to let Rosin learn magic, it wasn't something he could keep hidden anymore, so, he had to reveal it.

And it did take an entire month, where Matthew didn't progress much in his training since he was still thinking about Micheal's real identity. Aside from the training in this year, Matthew also visited the orphanage more frequently.

He was there pretty much every day, he played and trained with the kids there, since he had become their teacher in magic, many learned a little, and, Tom, who was scared of magic, came to love it after he found out he can also do it.

So far, the training was progressing greatly, he even made Max learn one spell, and learn to cast it fast as well, it was, of course, the spell he loved to use the most, Fire Bolt.

The 16-year-old was very happy during this last year, since, not only had the abuse stopped, but, the new workers there, were all nice people, she also got to know Theresia better, she hadn't talked to her much during her visit, in the two years Matthew was living here.

But now, after she got to know her more, she thought of her as a silly, and cute, older sister. Her training also continued with Asvin, and even Gleeward trained her a bit, in his own, harsh way.

The Manos sister has gotten even better at handling swords, of course, when they fought against a sixteen-year-old, they lost all the time, but that was because of the difference in their bodies. But, even though they lost, they were still better than her in the actual use of techniques, since, in the end, they were being trained by the Fierce Lion himself.

Even the Black Lion trained them a bit, and he was sometimes sent to train Max and some of the other orphans that wanted to become swordsmen as well. During this year, it was a very peaceful time, even the Black Tower attacked just one village.

Of course, that was bad for the village, but as a whole, compared to them attacking at the very least two villages per year, this was much better. The kingdom of Dectrium, and the kingdom of Al-Bark, both agreed to become even friendlier with each other.

Since they were both being attacked by the Black Tower, they needed to work with each other, to gather as much information on that evil group of magicians, as possible.

Over this year as well, Matthew got to know his family even more, he started thinking of Nero as a real father, and Marcela, as a real mother, as for Olivia, he had already accepted her as his little sister, a long time ago. Matthew also took some lessons in swordsmanship, from both Gleeward and Asvin.

During this year, Matthew read a few more books as well, which were, of course, all discussed with his other book-loving friend, Roden Charlton. They visited each other many times, and even went to the orphanage a lot, Roden was even being taught magic by Matthew now.

His uncle and his cousin, didn't visit them the entire year, which was, of course, a given, even though it was a disrespectful thing to do, Nero allowed it, after all, he didn't want to cause a civil war in the family, not when it was slowly raising to power again, with the help of the nine-year-old.

After all, news travels fast in the kingdom, over this year, there were many visits from other nobles, some of them challenged Matthew to fight, their "Talented children", and well, we could all imagine how those fights ended, if you could even call them fights.

Because of that, the Ankston family started regaining some of its power, and this was even before Matthew reached 18 of age, and entered the academy of magic. Many already believed him to be the equal of the other two geniuses in the kingdom.

The son and heir of the Poblico family, Alunzo Poblico, who was only one year older than him, as well as the daughter, and heir, of the Dopner family, Camilia Dopner!

Though some said that that was very much false, after all, Alunzo and Camilia were both being trained by two of the strongest magicians in the kingdom, for Camilia, her father, one of the 14 pillars of the kingdom, for Alunzo.

Even though his father was also one of the 14 pillars of the kingdom, and was actually ranked as the strongest, he was instead being trained by his older brother, the Yellow Sun, the only person that could rival the Green Mage in magic inside the kingdom of Decatrium.

No one realized that Matthew was being trained by the Green Mage, they thought that he was instead, being trained by a useless magician, and for some unknown reason, Rosin had joined him.

But, even after people researched about this, they only found out that this guy was called Micheal -No one knew that that was the Green Mage's name- and so, they couldn't believe that he would be on par with those two.

At the moment, the now ten years old Matthew was preparing for the party they were throwing today, it was the celebration of his little sister becoming four years old. Many guests were invited to the party, even his uncle and cousin, who declined just like they did with his birthday party.

The preparations were mostly done, it was just that Matthew had to make his room clean since this was the first time Max and the group of three boys were coming over, they had of course, already visited the house many times, it was just that, he never allowed them to come into his room.

But, yesterday, when they played a game, and he lost, they made his punishment, allowing them to see his room, he agreed, since he had lost, and so, from when he woke up today, he has been tidying his room.

Marcela couldn't help but laugh at her son, as she returned to her assignments. Olivia was very happy, after all, she was a special person today, her big brother had agreed to release about six or so fireworks for her.

And, from everything she waited for, that was the most important thing for her. Not much time passed, before the Cavias family carriage entered, Nero was there to receive them, just like Matthew was.

Rosin and the Manos sisters all hugged the cute, and adorable Olivia, as they started talking about girly stuff. Asvin brought with him a present for the cute little girl, as he thought, 'Lucky Matt, getting such a cute little sister, even Sonia has become a monster after talking too much to that retched being, Rosin!'.

'It's good that this cute girl hasn't been tainted by that evil, yet, I have to not let her talk to them for long!', with that being thought, Asvin quickly made his way toward the young girl, to congratulate her on becoming four years old today.

Nero and John were talking about work, they had become very good friends since the incident with the Grey Dogs a year ago, they even sought advice from each other on how to deal with certain problems.

The Black Lion wasn't here, since he was left to manage the security of the Cavias mansion for the day. But, someone that did come, was Micheal, as he liked being called, Olivia smiled, as she said, "Oh! It's mister green hair, thank you for coming!".

Micheal could only smile awkwardly at that nickname, even though he had been called such frequently by another girl, that when she heard it for the first time and laughed for more than 15 minutes, the girl in question, was Rosin.

Matthew also laughed for quite a bit, he found it a little weird, that the nice and normal Micheal, was in fact, the Green Mage.
