CHAPTER 3

“Gods, we’ve done it.  I think,” a female voice said.

“Are you sure this is an actual human?  I’ve only seen illustrations in ancient texts,” another voice added.

The first voice scoffed. “What else would it be?  We conjured a human. Here is one for the sake of the gods.”

“I suppose.  The headmistress should be here any moment.  She will not be pleased with us, I fear.”

Vincent slowly opened his eyes.

“He’s waking up,” the first voice said with excitement and anxiety.

Vincent saw two gorgeous women knelt beside him as he laid on some sort of slab.  It was cold, hard, and very uncomfortable.

Vincent slowly broke his silence.  “Where am I?  The hospital?  I remember we were on a train track and boom.  That’s all I remember. Are you nurses? You don’t look like nurses.  You look like you’re doing some kind of geeky cosplay.”

“This isn’t a hospital and we are not nurses.  I’m not sure what the word cosplay means,” replied a jet black haired woman dressed in something that looked like a bathrobe but more fancy.  The woman’s eyes were red and her ears were long and pointy.  Her skin was pale and her lips were bright red. The woman’s impeccable hair draped down to her waist.  She was gorgeous. She held an enormous book in both hands that looked to be ancient, and the writing on the front was some other language.  Her fingernails were painted black or were black permanently.

The other woman was wearing the same style of robe, but had blonde hair pulled into a bun.  She had green eyes and also had pointy ears.  She was definitely a Caucasian woman, but nowhere near as pale as the first lady. She held some sort of medallion in her hand. She had a cautious expression on her face.

Vincent glanced at the dark-haired woman to see her with a warm smile.  He felt the hair on the back of his neck stand when he saw fangs where her incisors should have been.  The other teeth in her mouth looked normal, but her fangs were at least one inch long.  “What’s your name?  Where am I?”

“My name is Eleanor, and this is Petra.”

“Okay, where am I?”

Eleanor rubbed Vincent’s hand lightly and smiled.  “I know you have a lot of questions.  Have patience.”

Vincent sighed and closed his eyes.  “This is just a dream or I’m in a coma. I’ll wake up soon.”

“I know you’re overwhelmed, and we are here to help you.  You need to understand that this isn’t a dream.  We summoned you with an ancient ritual in this book,” Eleanor said warmly.

A door to the room they were in opened and a small gust of air touched Vincent’s body.  Gooseflesh covered him immediately from the cool air.  He suddenly realized that he had no clothes on at all.  He didn’t know how he didn’t notice that before.  Vincent immediately moved both hands over his penis.  “Jesus, I’m naked!  Where are my clothes?”

“Yes, you are.  You cannot carry any items over from your prior dimension,” Eleanor replied as Petra covered him with a blanket.

The opened door slammed, and a woman stomped into the room, shaking her head.  “What have you girls done?  Is this some kind of prank?  Who is this naked man? Why, in the name of the gods, do you have the Testament of Zihra in your possession? That book is locked in the academy’s vault.”

Petra cringed. “Well, headmistress, we borrowed it.”

The woman’s eyes widened. “Borrowed it?  Borrowed it?”

Eleanor handed the book back to the headmistress.  “We’re done now.”

The headmistress scoffed and refused the book.  She walked beside the thing I was lying on and looked me up and down.  “Who are you?”

The headmistress was a sight to behold.  She wore a long purple dress that looked almost Victorian, but it was more modern.  The front of the dress was low cut, revealing spectacular cleavage.  She wore a black choker on her neck.  She had the same skin color as Petra but had long red hair.  Her ears were also pointy, and the tips poked through her red hair.

“I’m Vincent… Vincent Sabatino.”

“Where did you come from?  I don’t recall you being a student here.  Did these girls put you up to this?”

“I’m from New Jersey.  I have no idea how I got here.  A train hit me and I woke up here.”

The headmistress scoffed and cocked a brow. “A train hit you?  You have no injuries.  Most people that are hit by trains are killed or cut to pieces.  You haven’t suffered either fate. There is also no such place called New Jersey.”

“One of these girls mentioned I came from another dimension.  There is a New Jersey there. Fuck, what is going on? This isn’t making any sense,” Vincent pushed himself to a seated position.

The headmistress crossed her arms under her breasts, almost pushing them out from under the dress. “Eleanor and Petra, I’ve had quite enough of this hogwash. Explain.”

“When we heard that, there was a summoning ritual for a human in the Testament of Zihra.  We swiped the book and performed the spell.  It was quite difficult.  We’ve practiced for weeks to learn it and we’ve been here for six hours, actually doing the ritual. You can ask our teachers. They will tell you we missed all of our classes today.”

The headmistress stomped her right foot. “Not only have you stolen an ancient text from the academy vault without my authorization, but you have skipped all of your classes today all for a stupid prank. Not to mention you are out of your dormitory after curfew.  Have you girls gone completely mad?”

I held up my hand.  “I’m not a part of any prank.  I can assure you of that.  Give me some clothes and get me the hell back to Jersey.”

Eleanor cleared her throat.  “I’m sorry, but you cannot travel back to the Earth dimension.”

“This is ridiculous.  Do you know who I am?  Do you know who my father is? Haven’t you heard of the Sabatino family? Get me the hell out of here,” Vincent growled as he swung over his legs.

“No, I’m afraid I don’t know who that is, but they are not in this dimension.  I can assure you of that.”

“Fuck this, I’m walking right out of here,” Vincent exclaimed, and stood to his feet.  His blanket fell to the floor.  The women gasped and put their hands over their mouths.  Vincent picked up the blanket back up in a swift motion and tied it around his waist like he tied a towel after a shower. He marched past the three women and headed to the door.  He reached for the door handle and saw the lock engage.  Vincent grasped the handle anyway and tried to open it.  The door had most definitely been locked.

“How did you do that?  Automatic doors?”

“You’re not going anywhere until I sort this out,” grumbled the headmistress, and she made a grabbing motion toward Vincent and moved her arm upward.  Vincent almost pissed himself when he rose from the floor and floated toward the woman.  He could not move his arms or legs, so he couldn’t escape this magical grasp.

She softly placed him where he was before and gave a heavy sigh.  “Stay here.”

“How did you do that?”

“Magic, Vincent. Your dimension is rather weak and unable to perform magic,” Eleanor explained.

“Magic?  This is definitely a dream or I’m doped up with narcotics at the hospital and seeing things.”

The headmistress shook her head.  “Okay, if this is a human. This Vincent fellow should be able to perform the greatest magic our dimension has ever seen.  Okay, human, show me something.”

“I can’t do magic.  This is insane. Magic isn’t real.”

Eleanor stepped forward and placed her hand on his shoulder.  The show of warmth from the odd woman was exactly what he needed at the moment. He was afraid for the first time in a very long time.  “You can and you will, eventually.” She turned her gaze to the headmistress with a pleading expression.  “Please allow us to take him to the lab, and you and David can test him.  You will know for sure.”

The headmistress wrinkled her nose and motioned angrily at the door. “I can’t believe I’m going along with this idiocy.  Take him to David.”

Eleanor’s face lit up.  “Oh, thank you.  We’ll go now.  He should still be there.  He works all the time.”

The blonde Petra nodded. “Luckily we did this after hours, otherwise the hallways would be full of students staring at the strange man wearing only a blanket.”

Eleanor tugged on Vincent’s arm.  “Let’s go to the laboratory.  Please.”
