Asterios and all his companions stood by the side of the road just past the border of the town, awaiting the royal procession. The carriage slowly made its way toward them. It didn’t seem like it was going to stop at first so Asterios considered carefully signaling the escorting knights, but it turned out that it wasn’t necessary.
The two leading men who didn’t pay them any attention stopped exactly before Asterios and everyone else. They remained still, facing forward, until the carriage and the rear escorts came to a halt too. Then, all four knights jumped off their horses at the same time and finally turned to them, hitting their chests with their fists and dropping to one knee.
Silvia sighed softly, capturing Ast’s attention.
“I apologize but you will have to get used to this.” She showed him a gentle smile as their eyes met. “Even though Father doesn’t really force anyone to show this much respect to us in the public, most of the knights still do.”
He reciprocated her smile with his own. “It just shows how good of a ruler he is, and that you aren’t anything less.”
“I guess.”
They stared at each other for a moment longer, with Silvia letting Asterios slide his fingers into her palm. A tiny spark passed through their hands and she couldn’t stop a barely noticeable tinge of rosiness from coloring her noble cheeks. She could now feel that Asterios truly thought so thanks to their surprisingly deep bond. Even he had been amazed to see how powerful it was right from the very start, pretty much.
“In any way, I don’t think we should keep these honored knights from carrying out their task for no reason,” Silvia continued, turning her face to the four men. “I would like to enter the carriage and accompany Camille on the way to the castle. Do you maybe want to join me?”
The little glance gave him brought a slightly bigger smile onto Ast’s lips. “It would be my pleasure. If the others don’t mind. I can’t see all of us fit in there.”
“Don’t worry about us, Ast,” Tina replied, stepping closer to them. “While you join Silvia and Camille in the carriage, we will join the escort and lead everyone to the castle.”
“Yes! Leave it to us, Master!” Miria beamed at him from the other side; her tail swishing joyfully behind her back.
Asterios ran his gaze over all the women, receiving light nods and smiles in response. Tina had already opened a big gate and Esil walked out of it, surprising the four knights quite a bit. Miria began shifting into her panther form too. He left them to their own machinations and made a polite gesture towards the carriage, guiding the princess to the door.
Silvia thanked him for his assistance and hopped inside with the help of Ast’s elbow. Following her, he closed the entrance and let his eyes roam over the beautiful artisanry decorating the walls, ceiling, and masterfully carved benches fitted with extremely soft-looking cushions of amber color. If he didn’t know any better, he would have immediately thought that the king himself rode this carriage.
But, his eyes quickly found the familiar maid on one side and her mistress on the other. The pretty woman with long black hair currently woven into a ponytail regarded him with a squinted gaze, not even bothering to hide its intensity. On the contrary, she was clearly showing him that she was not afraid, even though he didn’t feel anything special from her, besides a few clusters of spiritual energy which could be artifacts she hid somewhere in her uniform.
After he sat down next to Silvia, the carriage jerked lightly and began moving. The princess found his hand again and entwined their fingers over the comfy cushion between them. The maid’s eyes narrowed even further, locked on that spot.
“Well then,” Asterios began after clearing his throat. “As the current overseer of Glimmervale, I would like to welcome you to our small community, Camille. It’s a pleasure to host the personal maid of the princess. Let me or anyone else know if you need anything.”
“I’m glad to have you by my side again too,” Silvia added after him.
The woman gave her a beautiful smile, nodding her head courteously, and immediately grew serious again after turning to Asterios.
“Don’t think you are off the hook just because you seem to have somehow charmed the princess,” she said with an icy tone.
Silvia sighed gently. “Camille…”
“You know first-hand how cunning and insidious noblemen can be, Princess,” Camille replied, still pinning Asterios with her gaze.
“He isn’t a noble. Yet, at least. He is just an adventurer.”
“An S-ranked one,” the maid pointed out. “They are not much different. Some are even bigger womanizers.”
“You know very well that we met way before he got this far.” Silvia almost rolled her eyes. “You won’t convince me that you didn’t research Asterios the moment his name left my lips for the very first time.”
“Of course, I did. And if you did too, you should be aware of how suspicious his career path is, Princess.”
“I’ve been extremely lucky thus far,” Asterios finally joined in on their conversation. “Not just with my achievements but also with meeting the right people who helped me overcome all my struggles. And, of course, stumbling on Silvia in the training arena too. I’m very thankful for that incident now.”
Silvia brushed the top of his hand with her delicate thumb and showed a sweet smile while glancing his way. She then refocused on her personal maid.
“Father has definitely filled you in on all the details since we rarely keep any secrets from you. I now have feelings for Asterios and I can tell that he reciprocates them.” She felt her palm getting a loving squeeze and her smile grew a little. “I learned a lot about him and I’m confident in my choice. I hope you can accept him too.”
“You are still young, Princess. I’m sure it isn't love but simple infatuation for someone who showed you a little bit of genuine interest. You are still inexperienced in these matters and easy to take advantage of,” Camille replied calmly.
Silvia barely held herself back from reminding her maid that she wasn’t that inexperienced anymore but decided against it just in time. That certainly wouldn’t help their situation. She heard Ast’s chuckle in her head and let out a soft giggle there too, knowing that he had taken note of her thoughts.
~She cares too much about you to listen to rational arguments,~ he said to her mentally. ~I’m pretty sure having to deal with all those scheming and fake nobles made you very experienced in judging one’s character.~
~I know. I love her as much as she loves me. We’ve grown together almost side by side. Even though she isn’t that much older than me, she’s always been… like a mother to me.~
Asterios slowly wrapped his arm around Silvia’s waist and pulled her a bit closer to him. ~I’ll earn her approval. One day. I promise.~
She sent him lots of appreciative thoughts and enjoyed the warm hug. Asterios wanted to lean in and place a gentle kiss on Silvia’s temple, but he didn’t want to make any too bold moves in front of Camille. Though, Silvia noticed his intentions, and he noticed her happiness.
Soon, the carriage stopped and Asterios quickly moved to hold the door and his elbow for the ladies. Silvia received his help with a smile while Camille did her best to barely use his aid. When he tried to pick up her baggage, she beat him to it with a split-second reaction, taking some of it herself and handing the rest to the knights.
They all walked into the castle and stumbled on Yumi early on. Asterios stepped closer to the adorable elf maid.
“Yumi, this is Camille, Silvia’s personal maid. I would like you to find her a good room, fill her in on everything, and inform everyone that she’s on par with your position. Can I count on you?”
“Of course, My Lord. I’ll do my best.” Yumi bowed low.
His own personal maid approached Silvia’s servant and took Camille away. The human woman shot Asterios one last squinting glare over her shoulder before returning her focus to the path ahead. Selene and Grea snickered out loud after the two women and the knights disappeared behind a far corner.
“Now, this might be fun. She’s hellbent on exposing you, I think,” the sexy demon researcher said.
“Too bad there isn’t anything about my Lord that she could expose. Maybe except his body,” Selene added with a smirk.
They glanced at each other and hit a high-five. Asterios shook his head with a wry smile. Those two would be a deadly combination.
“What now, then?” Tina asked curiously.
“We haven’t really seen Mom for a few days so maybe we could pay our families a visit,” Asterios suggested. “After that, I guess we can speak with King Welrond too, about our upcoming expedition into Bryn’s world. I’m sure he would appreciate the heads up.”
“Without Umbra, Master?” Bryn glanced at him.
“Silvia can open gates now,” Grea responded instead, crossing her arms under her ample chest. “We can all follow her back to her chambers, or just Asterios is enough. I have our way back secured. My new underground lab is fully registered as the place I consider home. In the end, home is where you can spread your legs open to fuck like an animal without having to worry about a single thing.”
Tina’s cheeks quickly grew flushed at her ex-professor’s bold statement and Miria wasn’t that far behind. Even Silvia seemed to show a delicate trace of embarrassment on her beautiful face. They all would still need to get used to the quite straightforward and unreserved woman.
Since no one had any other ideas that could possibly top Ast’s suggestion, the girls turned around and began heading out of the castle. Asterios and Silvia ended up at the end of the march this time and exchanged brief glances. His crimson eyes met her amber irises and those mesmerizing gems drew him in just as much as the fierce vertical pupils did her.
He reached out as they stepped closer to each other and placed his palm on Silvia’s soft cheek. She raised her chin a little bit and they leaned forward to join their lips in a quick but loving peck. A faint wave of warmth passed through Asterios and a myriad of tiny sparks flickered over Silvia’s hair like small fireworks.
“That’s so beautiful…” Miria cooed from the side, making them notice that everyone was now staring at them.
Silvia blushed a little bit but didn’t feel that embarrassed. Asterios placed one more soft kiss on her tender lips and they quickly caught up to the other women. As expected, the main topic of their conversation as they walked to the mansion Ast’s and Tina’s families had chosen for themselves was obviously the earlier sparkling. Miria just had to know what it was, how it happened, how it felt, and many more almost unending questions.
Therefore, the duo did their best to share with everyone whatever they could again. It naturally hadn’t been the first time they witnessed that phenomenon. Those sparks appeared quite often when Silvia remained around Asterios, or when they shared skin contact with moderate mixing of their spiritual energy.
Everyone agreed that such a phenomenon was extremely interesting and fascinating. They began discussing all the sensations each of them experienced when Asterios shared his mana and essence with them. Their reactions weren’t as flashy as Silvia’s but still could be counted as ones. For example, there had been times when more of Miria’s bloodline was forced out during her intimate time with Asterios.
Nevertheless, everyone understood that Silvia’s case was to some extent special. No one felt jealous about it, though, as they all had their personal things only they could experience with Asterios. The princess was relieved to hear that as she didn’t want to put herself above the others, even though she understood that she and Asterios did share some special connection.
Soon, they arrived in front of the mansion Ast’s mom and Tina’s parents had chosen for their new home after coming to Glimmervale. Right from the outside, they could notice that the entire building had been thoroughly cleaned, including the front yard. Entering the charming villa, they verified that the same could be said about the inside. A few, occasional servants busied themselves around, and Tina even recognized a person or two.

Since they had no Umbra to direct them to his mother, Asterios stopped one of the maids for a brief moment and she guided them through the mansion. It didn’t take long before they stood in front of beautifully-carved wooden doors to her office. Tina knocked gently and they entered the spacious room.
Kindra raised her gaze from the documents scattered on her desk and beamed a wide smile at them. “Asti! And everyone! I’m so happy you came to see me!”
She spun around in her comfy armchair and launched herself off it. In a flash, she was running at Asterios with open arms and he prepared himself for what was coming. As expected, he had to catch her after she jumped at him, and they began spinning while hugging each other. She was always so childish, though he didn’t dislike that part of her.
A few seconds later, they came to a halt and he set his mom back on the ground, fixing her slightly disheveled hair. She giggled at him and pulled Asterios into one more hug.
“Alright, enough, Mom.” He chuckled. “You are going to embarrass me in front of my girlfriends and companions.”
“Good. If they can’t handle this much, they don’t deserve you. We need to start tightening our requirements now that your little family is slowly turning into a bigger one. I don’t have to match you this actively anymore.” She giggled at him.
“I’m pretty sure that you don’t have to match me, period. For quite some time already. Who else are you trying to rope into this?” He raised a brow at her.
She smiled at him mischievously and placed a finger on her lips in a shushing motion. Asterios rolled his eyes at his tease of a mother but smiled back at her.
“Anyway, to what do I owe this pleasure?” Kindra asked after releasing him from her clutches.
“We just wanted to know how you are doing, Miss Kindra!” Miria waved at her with a cheerful expression.
“And perhaps ask if you need any help in regards to the construction of the walls or other things,” Tina added.
“Or to let you know that we will be heading off-world soon, aiming to explore Bryn’s realm for more clues about me,” Asterios threw in his two cents too.
“And also, I wanted to properly introduce myself now as Asterios accepted me as his woman and I took him as my man,” Silvia joined with a delicate flush.
Ast’s mom gasped quietly and her hands shot to her mouth. “You did?”
The princess nodded gently and Kindra clapped happily, quickly trotting to the princess. She took hold of Silvia’s soft hands and squeezed them tenderly.
“I’m very, very happy and proud that our amazing princess chose my son as her man! Thank you so much and congratulations, of course! I’m sure that you two are going to share plenty of lovely memories together! And with all of you too!”
A small but still dazzling smile curved Silvia’s lips as she stared at the energetic woman. Kindra stepped even closer and pulled her into a warm hug, using one hand to lovingly brush through her long hair.
“I just want you to know that I’m always going to be here for you,” she whispered affectionately. “You can always come to me, at any day, any hour, any moment, even if all you want is a simple hug. I won’t ask you to call me Mom. I’m sure that’s reserved for that special person in your life. But even if you won’t, don’t ever forget that you are now part of my own family, and I’ll turn the entire world upside down to get to you when you are in trouble. Because that’s what a mother does.”
Silvia let Ast’s mom hug and caress her gently while listening to her words. She felt genuine concern and love in the affectionate woman’s actions. The warmth that gradually filled her chest was completely different from the one she experienced with Asterios. For one, it definitely wasn’t induced by her bloodline.
She glanced to the side to find him, forced to blink a little bit faster as her vision grew slightly blurry on the edges. He smiled at her softly.
~I’m sorry. She’s very emotional. You have no idea how many times she talked about how hard it had to be for you, especially after you learned that your mom passed away giving birth to you. She couldn’t figure out if you blamed yourself for it or not.~
Silvia answered him with her own, delicate smile through her somewhat tense lips. She then turned back to Ast’s mom and reciprocated the hug, wrapping her arms around the slightly shorter woman.
“Thank you…” was all she could muster out and silence enveloped them.
They remained in each other’s embrace for a minute or two while everyone else watched from the side, knowing better than to interrupt their moment. Then, Kindra withdrew herself first, wiping away the faint trails running down her face. She smiled sweetly at Silvia and the princess responded with the same.
“I apologize… I overstepped my boundaries a little bit… I couldn’t hold that in…”
Silvia shook her head. “Please, don’t apologize, Lady Kindra. I really appreciate your kind words. I will be honored to call myself your daughter and to call you my mother. Thank you for accepting me.”
Kindra’s smile grew even more brilliant and she pulled Silvia into one last hug before freeing the princess. Asterios walked closer and used a handkerchief to carefully and lovingly wipe off their faces. Both women glanced at him appreciatively and he left a peck on their cheeks.
“Alright. Let’s move on. You wanted to know how we are doing, right?” she asked.
“Shouldn’t we introduce Grea too?” Tina wondered out loud, turning her face to their demon friend.
“Nah, no need. I’m no one important.” The person in question waved her hand dismissively. “Besides, the two of us already talked about it. I might be someone who doesn’t give a single shit about what others think, but you know, when that someone is your lover’s mother, you would at least want to make sure that they are okay with you dating their son, right?”
Kindra giggled and smirked at them. “Grea is right. We had a very long and fruitful conversation a few days ago. I would never have anything against someone this devoted and compassionate getting together with Asti.”
Even though Grea did her best to look away while crossing her arms under her bountiful chest, everyone who was already well-acquainted with her could spot the darker spots surfacing on the demon woman’s cheeks. Tina and Miria giggled at the sight, exchanging glances.
After the conversation topic finally moved away from the new additions to Ast’s harem, they started discussing the current state of things related to the construction of defensive walls and the expansion of trade. Both things were moving along better than well. The initial technical plans were almost fully done and approved. Imadil and Cynthia assisted the Committee members as much as they could.
Most if not all of the shops belonging to the Hestizo Household had already opened and Glimmervale could enjoy the high-quality products from the fields of jewelry, apparel, and shoes. Residents could receive regular discounts while all the travelers had to pay the full price. That was one of the sneaky moves Kindra had pulled to lure more people into moving into the small town, which wouldn’t remain this small for long if even half of her schemes succeeded.
Tina’s parents joined them while they were in the middle of their conversation and shared their thoughts on the development of Glimmervale too. They had left most of the things to Ast’s mom, but it was more than evident that at least Lady Luna had an active say in a matter or two. The two mature women shared a much deeper bond than just being close friends now, especially after agreeing to merge their families to some extent.
Chatting for a little bit longer, Asterios and Tina bid farewell to their families alongside all the other girls. They decided to pay a visit to the king next so Silvia opened a portal for them, leading straight to her bedroom. Ast’s mother was already used to it but Viscount Thomas still couldn’t hide his shock and disbelief at watching multiple people casually walk into the summoning gate.
The princess politely caught one of the servants wandering the hallways in front of her bedchamber and found out where her father was currently staying. She guided everyone to his study, and that included even Grea, who was a tad unsure about her presence. But, everyone assured her that Welrond definitely wouldn’t mind her behavior considering that she was Ast’s mate too. Bryn decided to accompany them further as she had been doing so far.
Reaching their destination, Silvia called out to her father and let them inside the cozy office chamber. The king stood up from his fancy chair and smiled at them from behind a massive, granite desk.
“Welcome back, Silvia, Asterios, Tina. And good day to you too, ladies,” he began and everyone curtsied respectfully. “You have impeccable timing. I was going to contact you soon.”
“Is something the matter, Dad?” Silvia walked closer to him slowly and gracefully.
Welrond’s lips curled in a blissful smile but he fought to tame it down. Asterios chuckled quietly while shaking his head as the man’s eyes flicked to his face for a fraction of a second. He enjoyed Silvia calling him dad way too much.
“I’m afraid it is.” He sighed heavily. “Do you remember Eugene?”
She stopped before reaching his side. “Ah. It’s this time already.”
The king chuckled wryly. “Yes, it is.”
“What is it?” Miria tilted her head in confusion.
“Eugene is the eldest son of one of the most prominent noble families and his birthday is approaching. Twenty-fifth even, which is quite big. He keeps inviting Silvia to the celebration every year, sending at least a dozen letters weeks before the event. No matter how many times she rejects them, he never gives up,” the man explained.
“I accepted once. Honestly, there was no minute in the entire event that I didn’t feel like running away,” Silvia admitted.
“And I regret talking you into it every single day.” Welrond stepped closer to her and lightly brushed through her hair as she smiled at him weakly. “It would be a little bad to ignore his twenty-fifth birthday, but I’m not going to put you in an uncomfortable situation ever again.”
She clearly pondered over something while letting her father dote on her and finally raised her head to meet his gaze.
“Dad, I think I have an idea. And a suggestion.”
They stared at each other for a brief moment and a wide grin rose on the king’s lips. He raised his eyes and turned to look at Asterios.
“Say, young man, have you ever attended a royal banquet?”
