Chapter 30: Don’t Starve with Weiss 1.30

"So how good are you in wilderness survival?" I asked Weiss hoping to hear something reassuring.

I walked right behind the white haired girl in white dress, following her going opposite direction from where we climbed the hill from.

"Weiss?" I asked again. Weiss continued to walk without answering.

"I'm not an expert... The training I went through didn't prepare me for living in wilderness. I do however have knowledge of the geography and the fauna and flora of Atlas." Weiss spoke after we had walked a good while.

"So, you know if there is any villages around here? A wandering tribe of helpful merchants or something?" There should be something right?

"The continent of Solitas is known for its harsh living conditions. There are from time to time people who try to build settlements. Usually they fail." I heard the harshness in the girls voice. A finality in it. She didn't believe there were living people outside of the kingdom of Atlas...

I took a sip from my sake gourd... Tasting the sweet... it's still nonalcoholic. Does this still count as a indirect kiss?

I tilted my head while stepping on the crunchy snow. "Haahhh..." The air is fresh at least.

I think there's deer in the forest.. I saw the footprints of one in snow.

I looked at the white haired girl walking before me and sighed once more...

I wonder how this will end up...

"What... are you doing?" I blinked my eyes hearing Weiss voice from behind me.

"I'm collecting stuff?" Cmon Weissss it's the first step in any survival game you know?

"... What is this?" I looked at the thing the blue eyed girl was pointing with narrowed eyes.

"Stones?" I tilted my head while smiling.

"And this?" Weiss pointed at another pile of stuff I found.

"Sticks?" You are so silly Weiss... No need to be jealous of my amazing survival skillz. I can share?

"..." Weiss didn't say anything only pointing at another pile of treasures.

"That my dear is flint. It was really hard to find you know?" There was so much snow near the river, but I managed to find couple pieces! Dam I'm awesome...

"Haaahh... you're impossible..." Weiss went to her knees while covering her head. No need to sound desperate I will share.

"So did you find any food?" I smiled in good mood while looking at the kneeling girl.

"No..." Weiss let out a small sound full of defeat.

Hahaha... Aren't we f*cked then...

I took a small sip of the alcoholic sake... feeling happy again.

"So... You wanna try catching river fish?" The depressed girl looked at the gourd I was drinking with suspicious look.

"Lets try it. I will succeed this time!" Weiss stood up full of motivation? Is this competition...

"Lets go!" I lifted my hand up cheerfully looking at the sun shining over the small clearing I made near the river. Snow... There is a lot of snow, okay? And some pine trees and small dwarf trees... Then there's the river mostly frozen with the water moving at fast pace under the ice.

Weiss and I didn't want to stay at the same place too long. Who knows someone may come who wants the 2 Frigging Million Lien?! from my skin.

Haahh... It's a sin to be so perfect.

"So how do we do this?" I woke up from my delusions seeing Weiss at the place where the ice was broken. Rocks and water flowing freely for about length of 16 feet,  before vanishing under ice once again.

"I could mimic worms with my semblance?" I lifted my hand to summon narrow pink petal that was squirming on my hand... eww.

Some new discoveries are maybe not meant to be found...

Weiss nodded. She seemed little impressed... I'm not. I dropped the petal down making it vanish into air.

How can you turn something so beautiful... to something so eww...

"I could drop them into the water surface and then we can stab any fish that comes near the surface?" I dropped couple petals to surface...

I watched them vanishing among the current almost immediately...

"Again!" I yelled before dropping a new petal... this one was swimming on the surface against the river current.

*splut.* A small splash and the petal was gone by flash of something dark under the current.

"Wha!" I looked surprised at the equally surprised Weiss.

"We can do this!" I hugged the surprised girl in white dress by taking hold of her waist and lifting her little to air with aura.

"Hahaha..." I turned to left and right carrying the soft girl on my embrace. I felt Weiss going stiff as an board in my arms once again. Deja vu?

As I let the girl down Weiss looked at me with eyes wide open... before blinking and turning away. "I-I'm going to get the sticks... Yes!" I saw the white haired girl lift one of her hands up to her face as she walked away. I think her ears seemed little red...

Weiss is tsundere?

Weiss... What should I do in the meanwhile? I looked at the river before taking my gourd out again... sip.

I smiled smugly looking at the fireplace I made using the STONES I collected... There was an fire with STICKS I collected and the fire was made using my ALCOHOL and my FLINT.

Weiss rolled her eyes at me while turning the fish on a stick over fire.

"So... we gonna try to travel back to Atlas?" I took a bite out of the unknown fish I caught with Weiss... it tasted okay? Nothing special really... 'unique experience' is not that good of a spice in real life...

It was starting to get dark already... the day is so short!

"Considering we have not heard or seen any bullheads that is our only possibility right now..." Weiss blowed at the fish before taking a small bite... and another after a while.

"Hmm... Weiss, why did you ask me to perform together with you?" It's weird... or did she really want to uncover my secret what ever was it again?

Weiss didn't answer immediately... just eating the fish quietly.

"I don't know anymore... It doesn't matter now." Weiss seemed to have given up on something... gasp! It can't be!

"Weiss!" I called the girl with raised voice.

"What?!" Weiss was blinking, the half eaten fish slowly dropping from the stick on her hand.

"You don't have to worry... I'm still single you know!" I let out my most charming smile to the heiress.

"What has that to do with anything!" I continued to grin as Weiss yelled while waving her hand the half eaten fish flying to fire.

Aww... I watched the fish turn black among the yellow and red lights dancing among each other.

"You're really impossible... Where did you even suddenly pop up from..." Weiss sighed while looking at the fish burn with little sad look.

That is a good question... also irrelevant.

"Where I came from doesn't matter... What I was doesn't matter... What I will do from now on does... right?" I smiled while looking at the heiress.

The girl didn't answer, but looked little thoughtful instead.

I stopped smiling seeing something dark move at the corner of my eye.

"Weiss..." I called while standing up and walking to my spear.

"Prim?" Weiss called, but I looked around us trying to find what I saw. A shadow moved at the corner of my vision again.

"A ghost!" I yelled seeing the black silhouette without legs flying to a small hill of sort.

"What!" Weiss jumped up too with pale face. "Where is it?!" Weiss was grabbing a blue dust crystal in her hand while looking around frantically.

"There..." *Rumble!*

*Rumble!* *Rumble! *RUMBLE!*

My mouth turned into a small o. As the snowy hill started suddenly moving turning into a 15 feet high ice golem...
