Chapter 39: Tititititi… 1.39

"Prim don't you think something is wrong..." Weiss called out from in front of me.

The torch light flickered in front of the beautiful white haired girl, making the shadows move. Sometimes it seemed something was there... in the darkness. Only to reveal a broken barrel or old skeleton slumped against a wall.

The air was thick and old. Both of us had stuffed noses from it. Unpleasant, spooky...

"Something is wrong all right... sniff, I hate dis place." I want to eat pizza...

"The design of this place is clearly strange, not to mention the hidden entrance. There should be other ways to enter, yet we have not seen even the first one yet... should we turn back?" Weiss stopped walking after speaking and turned towards me.

"You say back, but..." I looked at the maze of hallways and rooms we came from. The darkness swallowed the light, only showing the rock walls near us. "Which way was it?"

"Huh! It was clearly just couple of turns left and under the broken wall and two stairs then from..." Weiss went silent.

"I-I think I remember it? just follow me!" Weiss started walking towards the way we came from. Why do I feel like we just go from one trouble to another... also I'm hungry.

After walking from the stone room back to the hallway. To the left, part of the hallway was blocked by the ceiling collapse, revealing another floor above.

To the right was a metal door which we didn't try to open yet.

I followed Weiss going forward to another room with part of the wall being damaged. We crawled through it once again to appear in another room with barrels nicely stacked to both sides. One of the barrels had slowly stained the floor dark under it. It was however dried long tine ago making it hard to say what it had been... however...

The smell of iron had been constant ever since coming to the dungeon...

"Ugh..." Weiss grunted after getting up and swiping her white knees grey from dirt.

I slowly got up myself while wiping my knees.

"So was it left here..." I muttered while looking at the torch. It had still material burning, but it went little darker, I think.

"It should have been at the end of this hallway..." I followed Weiss as she spoke absentmindedly along the dark hallway.

*Titititititi...*

I stopped walking along with Weiss hearing the weird sound below us. Like the ground was... moving?

*Rumble!*

"Ha!" "Wha!"

Weiss and I jumped backwards as the darkness swallowed the floor we were just walking.

"Weiss!" I yelled feeling myself fall along with the other girl.

The fall was not long as my knees hit the floor suddenly.

"Are you okay?" I turned my head seeing Weiss speaking while her head was moving around perplexed, but fine.

"Yea..." I spoke and grabbed the torch from the ground to see a little better what happened.

As the dust slowly dissipated, I saw that we were in a yet another hall. This one was the largest hall thus far, with over dozen different doors around us. I looked up seeing the ceiling about 15 feet above us. Large rocks were all around us from the broken ceiling.

"""Tititititii.."""

"Weiss grimm..." I spoke while jumping back.

Six black spiders with bone armor above their bodies slowly crawled from the floor above we just fell from. They must have heard us.

They didn't seem that strong, only being about three feet high... better not underestimate them though...

"Lets kill them before more come!" Weiss yelled while shooting an small ice spike at the ceiling and successfully pinning one of them there.

"On it." I sprinted forward using the second celestial step. Huh?

I made an over head two handed slash with the purple spear feeling little resistance as my spear cleaved through two of the spider grimm with ease.

Arere?

I used the celestial step again, this time dashing backwards and slashing a web flying towards me before doing fast stab through the body of a falling grimm spider.

I continued my dash while skillfully rotating my body forward after stabbing the grimm.

I seem to see the enemies perfectly now even while in high speed dash?

"Tititit.. SKkrii..." Another spider was struck through by an ice spike.

I gave a look at the last grimm spitting something towards me.

I sidestepped using celestial step and dashed forward.

I soon appeared above the grimm jumping towards me. Only to stab the spear to ground along with the grimm which twitched for a moment.

"You seem even better than before? Not accommodating your ridiculous ability to move around you could actually take advantage of your speed this time." I started to smile seeing the heiress smiling at me.

"There really is grimm here..." I hoped this would be easier.

"It's not uncommon that old settlements or places with sad history to accumulate grimm over time... in fact some of the oldest grimm are born in places like this, trapped for who knows how many years before finally escaping." Weiss looked at the floor above just like me, while speaking.

"Tititititi..."

I opened my mouth to speak before stopping hearing the familiar sound coming from somewhere far above.

"Should we go up or try to search this floor first?" Weiss didn't answer immediately hearing me only looking at the hall we were currently at.

"This seems like a training ground for guards, if the floor above was storage room... could the entrance be actually be below us." I tried to visualize the place from where we came in from...

If we are under a mountain right now... It's hard to say how deep below we are, but we were climbing the mountain before entering the scratch on ground. It didn't seem like the regular entrance... maybe it was built afterwards by someone who discovered the place when it was already abandoned.

So the regular entrance was maybe on this floor or below this one?

"Lets look for it." I nodded at Weiss as we started to jog silently towards one of the bigger doors near broken dummies wearing old armors.

I pushed the door with huge door knockers feeling it not moving I pulled instead.

A groaning sound followed by a small light escaping from inside.

The new hallway was bigger than before with cleaner stone walls and floors.

"Titititi..."

I dashed forward seeing a lone grimm spider little bigger than before jumping towards the two of us.

"Skriiii!" I slashed the two bone spike legs cleanly before slashing down towards the shrieking mouth with multiple red eyes and two large bone fangs.

The grimm twitched little having its head slashed partly before spitting a web towards me. I didn't get to dodge it all as part of my spear was full of the web...

"Dodge!" I dashed to side and a ice spike went through the spiders smoking head.

"The hallway seems to be splitting ahead of us." I said this knowing Weiss couldn't see as far as I.

Weiss gave me a look, but didn't say anything only looking at the dark hallway flickering with our torch light.

Soon we reached the side hallway with another big door probably leading to another large hall. The hallway we were was still stretching forward.

I watched as Weiss pulled the old door open with groaning sound... people should oil this doors more often.

"Uh..." I opened my mouth...

"Umm..." Weiss was still halfway opening the door frozen in place.

The hall was fully covered in white webs from ceiling to floor.

"Weiss... shut the door." I whispered as quietly as I could.

*Gulp* Slowly Weiss stepped back while starting to pull the door back shut.

*Screeeee....EEeEEeeeee....Thump!*

"Weiss..." I whispered again seeing the door still halfway open as more and more pairs of red eyes started to shine in the darkness...

*Thump...Thump...*

"It's stuck." Weiss said simply and we both looked at the nearly hundreds pairs of red eyes looking at us silently...

"Frick..." I spoke aloud seeing another four pair of eyes... This ones being the size of plates at least.
