Chapter 40: Spiders… hate 1.40

So let's imagine this situation.

You are lost in an unknown place underground.

You're being chased by an army of black giant spiders...

Yeah sounds f*cked up right?

How can anyone survive in such harsh conditions?

Well... you can't.

"haha...ha." I let out a small laugh, how ridiculous.

"Prim In front! FRONT!"

"uh?" *Konggg....*

"Frick..." I kept running while holding my burning forehead. I cast a quick peek behind me seeing a sign of some sort swaying in air from my headbutt... A grimm spider jumped on the swaying sign tearing it down among a mass of other grimm.

"Skriii...!"

"How long is this hallway!" I yelled towards Weiss who had reached me due to me being absent minded.

"How should I know?!" Weiss made a wall of ice behind us.

"""Skriii...!"""

"They will brake through the ice soon let's try to barricade the next door!" we ran past a corner which led to another big door almost as soon as Weiss mentioned her idea.

I pushed the door open hearing the old heavy black door creack as it moved open.

A huge hall opened before us in shape of circle. Grey pillars were connected to ceiling from railing I run immediately to.

"Weiss There are at least four floors connected here, two down, one up." I looked down from the railing. The railing was circular shaped allowing me too see the other similar floors above and below me.

I saw in the darkness below the chess board themed lowest floor. Something seemed to move in the darkness, probably another grimm.

I turned seeing that Weiss had frozen the door behind me. The sound of grimm could be heard behind the door.

"We may be able to leave from the lowest floor, should we jump down?" Weiss jogged beside me with the torch that was about to go out.

I saw another shadow move down below. "There are grimm below..." I muttered.

*Katang! scratch...scratch...* The grimm were already behind the door.

"Hold tight." I turned towards Weiss to see the girl yank me over the railing with her.

"Kyaaaaaaa...!" I screamed while feeling Weiss wrapping an arm around my squirming and free falling body.

"A..." I fell on the cold ground safely a little later.

"B-bully..." I made a face even I don't know how to describe to the grinning girl.

"Skriii...!" I jumped up seeing an armored  8 feet tall Spider looking at me from ceiling.

"Skraaa...!" Another one jumped inside the hall from open door by my right.

I shared a look with Weiss before using second celestial step to appear below the spider on ceiling.

The spider moved on the ceiling to see me better.

I didn't move immediately seeing as the spider was too far up for me to reach even with the spear.

*Spit.* A white web easily bigger than myself flew from the grimm's mouth.

"Ha..." I dashed backwards away from the web that stuck to floor in front of me.

Weiss was currently using glyphs to accelerate herself to dodge the another spiders fast bone spear leg strikes. The floor was getting smashed to pieces with every strike the grimm made.

I flipped the purple spear on my hands around to point the tip towards the ceiling above the spider grimm.

I had already shot once towards the golem, Weiss told me it had enough fire dust to shoot two times more.

*Spit.*

I dodged to right another web before aiming again while rotating the switch on the spear *Click.*

A red flare momentarily brightened the floor before hitting the grimm on ceiling.

*Pam!* "Skriiii...!" I dashed forward seeing the grimm falling.

The best part of the celestial step was the addition strength brought to every attack due to acceleration.

I stopped right in front of the grimm swinging it's long bone legs to turn upright. All the momentum of my sudden stop I moved to the purple spear on my two hands stabbing like thunder.

A purple blur struck true to the grimm's unprotected belly. I stirred the spear around little seeing black smoke rise from the wound, before stepping back, away from black bone leg that flew past my pink hair.

I grinned feeling the adrenaline course through me before stepping around using celestial steps. The spider was swinging its legs irregularly around. "Skriii...!"

A step back, black blur went past near my chest. I stepped forward to slash one of the legs in half before retreating once again. I circled the grimm.

I jumped on one of the legs swinging by low, using it to jump forward again before blocking another leg from side with the side of the spear.

I can see it...

Again the grimm turned trying to bite me allowing me to use one of its legs as stepping stone to jump up.

Just a little more... I was starting to see the starting point of the third celestial step.

"""Skriii...""" Sound of numerous grimm spiders.

"We don't have time Weiss!" I yelled while slashing another one of the spiders legs away. The grimm finally retreated its legs... or so I thought before it rolled into a ball and rotated to its remaining legs, standing up.

The grimm had slash and stab marks all around it with black goo flowing and smoking from them.

"Ahh..!" I turned around seeing Weiss getting covered in web and stuck to floor. The grimm she was fighting was half frozen to ground with a ice spear stuck on its back... how tough are this grimm.

I swirled my spear towards the grimm I was fighting shooting another red flare towards it, also the last one.

"Skrii...!"

I used second step to dash towards Weiss.

I rotated the spear while moving and slashed the white haired girl free from the ground.

"Thanks." Weiss spoke before freezing the web on her legs and breaking it to the ground... neat.

I swung my spear to block another web flying from the grimm Weiss was fighting.

"There's sound coming from down there...!" A sound of unfamiliar man was heard from somewhere above us.

"Frick..." I muttered while dashing towards the grimm half frozen to ground.

With a quick stab through one of the glowing red eyes made the spider go finally silent.

""Skriii...!""  *Pum!* A flash of light from above us brightened the last big grimm with six legs as it jumped towards us.

"Prim.." I dashed forward as the grimm fell forward having its last front leg frozen to ground. Like before I appeared almost instantly in front of the grimm stabbing through its eye. The grimm had no chance to defend itself having already lost its other front leg.

A silence.

"Its a big one!" "SSKKREEE...!!" *Pam!*

I looked above towards the third floor above seeing something running and a giant black leg sweep a group of pillars to pieces m.

"Call miss Fern! We can't handle this one, retreat!" A yell of a man from above.

"Let's run." I nodded at Weiss.

We run towards the broken door the two spiders came from.

"I can feel cold wind." I smiled hearing what Weiss said.

The door led to an big stairway leading down to an big open hole with little light leaking out. It seemed this really led out.

The air got rapidly colder as we walked through the hole seeing ice covered hall, something big had made a tunnel trough the thick snow. Cold wind and natural light was leaking from the end of the tunnel.

I run past Weiss the wind growing stronger and stronger until I was out.

"Haaahhh..." I let out a tired breath.

I silently looked at the dark sky with big blue broken moon and countless stars, green northern lights danced far away above me.

I heard steps as the other girl arrived beside me also falling silent while just breathing heavily, looking at the starry sky before us.

"We did it!" I smiled feeling the other girl hug me from behind her chest was rising up and down rapidly against my back.

Little out of place for the heiress, but I didn't mind, not one bit.

"Yea..." I spoke softly without moving only letting the comfortable feeling of fresh air and the beautiful girl hugging from behind fill me with happiness and calm.

"Do you think we could try to hijack those guys bullhead right now?" I grinned while speaking to Weiss.
