“Woah, slow down there. You can’t just crash into my house and start making demands like you own the place; And what makes you think I would teach you medical engineering, anyway? I’m not taking on any students right now. Especially those who come crashing in from my celling.”

“YOU HAVE TO. I need to learn medical engineering right now. It’s important.” “My mother’s happiness depends on it.”

“Your mother? ‘What’s wrong’ with her?”

“You’ve heard of The Great Plague, right? I wasn’t born then, but I learned about it at school. A mass plague came out of nowhere, killing hundreds of thousands of people inside the Cones capital. That same plague changed the capital into what it is now. It’s funny how that happened 50 years ago.”

“Yes, I’m familiar with the story.” “The Great Plague, another one of the world’s odd creations. It can infect any part of the human body and once the infection reaches the heart, you die. Scientists are unsure how it came to be. The only thing they are sure about is that the disease starts off as an infection.”

“Correct! The reason I’m telling you all this is because when I was six, my mother caught that very disease. She was the only one reported after 44 years and our so call government decided not to do anything about it. They kept calling it a simple flu and offered us no treatment.” “Tell me, does a simple flu cause your legs to rot?” “My mother had to get her legs removed just to stay alive and without her legs, she isn’t herself anymore.“

“Thats why I need you to teach me. The girl above the trees, the miracle girl. Everyone in the capital knows about you and all the good things you’ve done. You’re like a hero to them.” “When I found out where you were, I was eager to see you. I need you to teach me everything you know about medical engineer so I can help her.”

“Something’s still not adding up to me; Medical engineering has been around for 5 years. Why didn’t your father just pay for her to get crafted legs? They aren’t expensive. People who live on the streets have them.“

“IT’S NOT ABOUT THE MONEY. We tried many times before. She’s seen doctors in and out of the capital and they’ve all said the same thing; That she’s unfixable.” “The last doctor we saw was Doctor Shawn Barrow. He said my mother’s nerves were no longer there, leaving it impossible to pair crafted legs to her.” “She won’t ever walk again.”

“That day, I saw a look in her eyes. Couldn’t get it out of my head if I wanted to. She even told my father to stop trying. She’s given up, but I haven’t. I want to give her hope. That’s why I need you. I need you to teach me. Please, miss.”

“Fine, I’ve heard all your squabbling. I’ll teach you everything I know, I just hope your a fast learner. Tomorrow 7am, meet me here in this exact spot and take the lift next time you don’t need to, pay you have my permission. You’ll also be fixing back my roof, so bring supplies. Have a nice day. See you kid.“

“Sachi catapulted James out of her house through that very hole.“

Writers note; “‘Don’t worry, he’s fine’. She packed him a parachute.“
