Chapter 3 - Useless policies (Part 4)
Rena's mouse is not working.
It turns out that the mouse was only bought 6 months ago. If it doesn't work because it's too old, it's a bit unreasonable. If it's sold for around 500 yen, it's either too cheap or too bad. For the price of 1,000 yen, I think it's okay.
However, that mouse is a specialized gaming mouse. So the price is a bit expensive, the price is 3 times more than my mouse. If it's by mistake, then this must be the wrong product.
But I knew that this mouse wasn't faulty or anything.
"Aah, really...!"
It was because Rena was "barbaric" while playing the game, so there was some damage to the mouse.
Even in the game, she didn't show her emotions too intensely at first, and tried not to do anything rude in front of me. But now Rena has started talking more, and showing the essence of Renaphalt outwards.
Can we really call this progress? That is a difficult question. The vicious circle of lending old things to Rena, being cheap and unable to bring out my full potential and being disappointed. Weapon performance cannot fully utilize the user's potential.
It was a weekend day, when we were supposed to play that battle royale game. If you used a courier service to order it by mail, it would be delivered the next day, but it would still take too long. If it arrived after noon it would be fine, but it would probably arrive in the afternoon or later. If I let Rena use the cheap mouse until then, obviously, Rena would only be disappointed. If that was the case then the most appropriate thing to do would be to stop playing, but it seemed like this was not an option for Rena. It is the beginning of August, the days are expected to be very hot. And I was basking in the scorching hot sun.
A suburb within ten minutes of the nearest train station. Before the sun got hotter, we visited a few electronics stores. I went to four stores to find the mouse Rena wanted, only to realize that I could save myself a lot of trouble by calling her after I bought it. Even though it was before noon, knowing that going outside would be hotter than inside the ghost house sweating in the heat alone, returning home early was the right choice.
But my hot body forced me to sit down and drink some water.
I arrived at a cafe that caught my eye, I immediately stopped and looked at the menu prices on the wall of the shop. But I thought the prices were reasonable since it was a famous cafe shop, but then I remembered that here a cup of iced coffee costs more than 600 yen.
I quickly turned around and walked to the hamburger shop on the ground floor of the building.
So here I am, sipping a Giga iced coffee in a window seat facing the outside of the building. It seems to be a new promo that started today, so I ordered a triple for only 100 yen more. I quickly ordered, but what quickly took over my mind was, I don't need this much.
It feels like a hamburger shop trying to do its best. I prefer fresh coffee at home, where the beans are freshly brewed, and it's even cheaper. My mind started to become harder when I thought of the cost.
I drank about half a cup and felt tired. But I didn't want to stop drinking, it would be a waste if I stopped drinking, so I would continue drinking.
"Huh, Tama-san?"
I heard an unexpected voice.
A voice that was neither high nor low. More like a girl's voice than a woman's.
I turned around, meeting the eyes of a girl who had discovered something unexpected.
She has chestnut hair tied in two, and I think my first impression is that only a few people find her pretty. If I had to decide between pretty and cute, it would be the former, without much thought. Not what people call "pretty", but "cute", is a more appropriate description for her.
She is the type of beautiful woman that men like and women don't like. The type of girl who is smart, cheerful and innocent and not shy wherever she is. The difference between her and me was like heaven and earth, a guy who graduated from high school and lived in lower society. No matter how hard I tried to get close to her, I still couldn't get close to her.
"Mm, ah, Kurumi-chan."
The problem was that I knew him when he was in school, and when he called me Tama-san, it really felt like some kind of magical connection.
"What a coincidence, meeting you in a place like this."
"A place like this, if you ask the staff like that, people will get angry."
"Ha ha ha. That's right, can I sit next to you?"
Please, and extend your hand to the side.
Look around, the seats are almost full. Looking at the iced coffee on the tray, Kurumi-chan seemed to wander around looking for a seat, and found me by chance.
"This is the first time we've met at a store outside like this."
"It must be the first time since we met until now. I also don't think we can meet anywhere other than the store."
Kurumi-chan spoke in a cheerful tone. It was a smile that was too beautiful for a lowly man like me, oh no, I'm going to misunderstand again.
When the word "shop" was mentioned, I knew it was a business smile. Kurumi-chan is not her real name, it's a type of name taken from a character from the Genji manga. This is the number one favorite shop that offers spring night entertainment for money, and I'm a regular customer. And that's not it either.
I'm a regular customer of Gami's. Gami likes to call Kurumi-chan by her last name. It's also a bit of a fateful relationship, and they know each other from before, when they meet at the store, Kurumi-chan just takes a "Ah, good evening Tama-san." then sits next to me like something very natural.
For me, being able to drink with a beautiful student like Kurumi must be an unforgettable event. I almost forgot that Kurumi-chan is still a freshman who just passed her entrance exam.
"Tama-san always wears a suit, so it feels new."
Once again, white teeth appeared from Kurumi's mouth as she looked me up and down. Since I see Kurumi all the time on Friday afternoons after work so it's just basic. This is definitely the first time Kurumi has seen me in a suit that isn't a suit. But it's not that I'm currently dressed to look attractive or anything, I'm just wearing a tailored t-shirt and black pants.
"What about you, Kurumi-chan, every time we meet, you have a different look, how many fashion styles did you end up with?"
"Nn~~, that's a lot."
Kurumi-chan tried to count, but she immediately gave up. Frankly speaking, there are so many of her fashion styles that I can't count them either.
She dresses casually in blouses and skirts, but unlike me, it's not something I can consider safe. What she's wearing is probably a designer dress, but it's not just clothes, it's safe to say that she knows how to dress. With her appearance, she could really appear in a fashion magazine.
"Ah-, I'm alive again-"
Kurumi-chan enjoyed a cup of iced coffee with a straw. Chuuu, the sound of her lips sipping water, and her throat rattling.
Her normal movements alone were charming, probably because of her cuteness.
"Really, this kind of heat is no fun."
"Right, Kurumi-chan from Sapporo, how was your first summer in Tokyo?"
"I heard it was very hot here, but I didn't expect it to be this hot."
She expressed it in a way that was rarely seen.
Not gloomy or sultry, but musty. It's like the negation of Tokyo's summer personality.
"I understand that. I'm from Hokkaido too. I'm really sick of the summer here."
"Uh, really? Could it be that Tama-san is also from Sapporo?"
"No, no. I'm just from the damn countryside. "
A homeland that I will never return to. I suddenly remembered the latest news there.
"The incident where a classmate was stabbed to death. About a month ago, do you remember?"
"The victim of bullying is the aggressor, huh? There was a scandal about the school turning a blind eye to the bully"
"That incident took place at my old school, so, I'm an alumnus there."
"Is that so?"
Kurumi's eyes widened as if surprised. But her face looked questioning, then she tilted her head sweetly.
"Eh...? But it's not as rural as you say, is it?"
"Compared to a big city like Sapporo, it's like the countryside."
The locals would be angry to hear this, but I had no sympathy for that place. For such a town, me calling it by the word "damn" was more than enough.
"But, aren't you surprised that such a thing happened at your old school?"
"It doesn't matter. I'm just impressed that the school never learned anything from the past."
"Learned nothing?"
"In my high school days, my classmates hanged themselves because they were bullied."
"Uh..."
"By the way, it was on television back then. If you try searching online, you might find something."
"Ah... that guy, were you close to him?"
Kurumi was at a loss for how to answer, but she shyly looked at me for me to continue the story.
"No, not at all. I was surprised when my classmate committed suicide, but I don't think I felt sad. I was just like, "That's troublesome." That's all."
"Oh yeah..."
"By the way, no one is allowed to talk about this, the whole class agrees... Not even the homeroom teacher is allowed to talk about it."
Unbelievable. Kurumi's eyes were shocked when I said that.
"Let's join hands when difficulties come. Share the joys and sorrows together. I guess I don't understand what it's like to grow up in an environment blessed with such good things. Oh, I have no malicious intentions. I just wanted to say that the adults at school are evil."
"Adults...? Aren't you a student?"
"Do you know this saying? The unhappiness of a child born of failure, if mismanaged by ignorant adults and the imposition of responsibility, they will be insurmountable."
"Whose motto is that?"
You are reading story Senpai, Jitaku Keibiin no Koyou wa Ikaga desu ka? at novel35.com
"It's even on TV. A great person like Kurumi-chan would also recognize it."
Kurumi frowned as she pondered. But it seems like she can't think about it, not even 10 seconds, but just by looking at her face, I can tell that she seems to have given up.
"So what do you think Tama-san?"
Kurumi covered her mouth with both hands, speaking in a deep and respectful tone.
"Only a good word or a good idea sounds good. They blame the kids for bad things. People like that are everywhere in school. I had a really hard time getting into trouble back then."
"What happened, what happened?"
"I had to take responsibility for throwing that ball, so I decided to play a goodbye homerun. That wasn't fun either."
What happened at that moment was not something so dark, but it was also not something that could be easily talked about, especially with someone like Kurumi. The only person around me that I could talk about happily was Rena.
By the way, Gami was also involved, Memories of that time are associated with the trunk of an extraordinary young man. Indeed, didn't I say that it wasn't human.
"Why... it feels so uncomfortable."
Kurumi-chan sadly brought the straw to her mouth and took a sip.
"When you turn on the TV, all you hear is who's to blame, who's to blame, and so on. I'm responsible for myself. Can't we create a society like that?"
"Unfortunately, a society based on such arrogance will never exist."
"There is no dream or hope."
"This society, after all, was built by people who used the first wisdom to make the foundation, And when the foundation has decayed, it is unreasonable to expect a society with such beautiful things to materialize."
"First wisdom?"
""It is how they live in the eyes of others and how they push responsibility onto others. God does not allow such people to live forever, There are even those who expel them from the life of society. The clever intelligence they got from the evil snake is evil."
I took a sip of iced coffee. It tasted really good, probably because we talked a lot.
"No matter how ugly things are on the inside, one can do anything as long as it looks good on the outside. This society revolves around bad people who have such beliefs. And it's too late to do anything about it."
"It's like a late-stage cancer."
"The last stage is also the end. That's right... For example, sending 1000s of aid such as groceries ETC to areas where there is a disaster. What do you think?"
"Hmm...? Isn't that good? It feels very important."
"Even if you know that the distribution of necessary support items such as food, which must be given to the victims immediately, will be delayed?"
"Ah..."
"Ignorance is a sin, but it's still good if you know about it and check yourself. But emotions are important, and you should consider the feelings of the person you want to send it to. So, it's better than doing nothing. After all, what we do is not for the feelings of others, but for our own satisfaction. Yes, it still takes an emotionally pleasing form, but it is still an unforgivable empty barbarism."
"Barbarism is empty?"
Kurumi-chan's face showed an uncomfortable expression.
"A way of thinking that only thinks of itself."
"It's just nonsense that eats away at the poor. Don't pay too much attention to it."
"No... my love story too, it's the same."
Kurumi shyly placed her hand on her head.
"I've always been hurt because I've felt love, whether it was fateful or tragic."
"That's how it is. Men don't seem to be comfortable accepting Kurumi-chan's feelings. Is there any harm before knowing another person's inner feelings?"
"My best friend also said the same thing. "Cute gestures can lead to relationships before love or romance blossoms in another's heart. That is, your cuteness is a sin." It seemed to be true, I had to look at myself. "
"What, do you realize that you yourself are cute?"
"Do you hate girls with such feelings?"
"No, I prefer girls like that. After all, people who don't realize themselves can be terrible."
"Fufu. I'm glad, when Tama-san says that."
Kurumi-chan smiled and looked very happy about it. I can endure this chat because I understand what's right, but I'm still going to be wrong.
"Now I've found a new love. That's why I take my best friend's advice seriously."
I see. Kurumi was enjoying her youth like a beautiful college student shining in the sun. There's no way she would have anything to do with an asshole like me.
"That's right. I hope you can find someone good and worthy this time. "
"Yes~~. So what about Tama-san, do you have a lover now?"
"Right now, I don't have one."
My response was a reflexive and boring cliché.
"He~... not for now... Just for reference, what was your girlfriend like before?"
This was a constant question for the big guy standing tall here.
It was a not-so-evil punch question from a jolly female college student, who believed that I would have a truly mature past.
What the heck was that reference? I really wanted to ask that.
I calmly took a sip of my iced coffee, trying to escape the eyes that were twinkling with anticipation of my answer. I should somehow make an imaginary girlfriend while drinking this. I wanted to maintain the respect of this cute coed. As I racked my brains with such thoughts, those curious eyes had already turned to the other side.
Kurumi suddenly knocked on the front window.
A passerby on the other side of the window saw her. Then they also waved back at Kurumi.
A girl of Kurumi's age. Also a beautiful person.
"Is that your friend?"
"The best friend I was talking about before. We'll meet here."
That is, the goddess who saved me is here.
I stood up immediately,
"In that case, I guess I should go home too."
I decided to escape the interrogation, as evidenced by the fact that I was never here.
"Ểh~. Are you going home?"
"There doesn't seem to be any empty seats left either. So I'll leave it here to your friend."
"...But since I've gotten an opportunity like this, I'd like to introduce you to Tama-san."
"Introducing a guy like me? Huh, see you at the Gami store later."
I understood that she really wanted to keep me here, not as a courtesy, not as a call of honor, but I still decided to leave.
I threw away about a quarter of the remaining iced coffee, which was a waste. As I was about to leave the restaurant, I saw Kurumi's best friend queuing up to order.
I stopped and watched her for a while.
She was a pretty girl no less than Kurumi. If Kurumi could be described as cute, the first thing that came to my mind when I saw her was that she was pretty. She is the kind of dark-haired girl that smugglers would love.
I felt a sense of déjà vu with her.
I had met someone like that before. But I couldn't remember if it was on TV or the internet.
Maybe she also felt my gaze, and then our eyes met.
Her face showed no hesitation or displeasure, and she looked back ahead as if she had lost interest in me. Since she was beautiful, it was natural not to attract the attention of a man like this.
I couldn't keep looking at him, so I left the store.
I came home sweating profusely.
The air conditioner was on, and I felt like I was alive again.
"Welcome home."
The ART in my house was waiting for me and welcomed me. However, only today, what she was waiting for was not the owner, but the mouse. Obviously, Rena was looking forward to the shopping bag more than anything else.
"Yes. I'm back..."
I looked at her face and remembered the feeling of déjà vu that I really felt back then. That friend's face resembled Rena's. I thought she would look the same if Rena grew up healthy, with confidence.
Just like Rena's sister.
By the way, Rena's older sister went to a university in Tokyo. She is a female student. And also a first year.
"It can't be, right?"
There can be no such thing as a coincidence. Of course... it's impossible.
