After Melissa had that phone call to release the picture with the premade write-up, she went back to her flat and waited for her plan to transpire.
She expected to gain sympathy from people and bury Samantha to the ground. Who would want or like someone who had destroyed a relationship, right?
In her fantasy, when people will read about the news that she prepared, they will all strike and shame Samantha endlessly.
She believed that when that happens, the weak Samantha will soon give up and no longer want to continue with Daniel. And when that happens, it will be easier for her to get Daniel back. Although the likelihood of this to happen is low, she was still willing to do it.
Over the years that she had not seen him, she had always held on to that fantasy that in due time, Daniel will forgive her one day and they can be together again. She believed that if she persisted long enough, she will still win in the end.
It had been about 10 years since they had broken up and she had been miserable because of what she did. She of course had met other people and dated them during those times but she could never forget Daniel. Maybe it was because of guilt, or maybe because she truly liked him, no one could really know.
And at that moment when they met back in Country D, the feeling that she had suppressed was suddenly unleashed when she saw him again after a very long time.
Her selfishness resurfaced especially when she saw him with Samantha. A gorgeous woman whom she even find was more attractive than her and she couldn't deny that. She was very much envious, she couldn't live with the fact that Daniel was very indifferent towards her and was very loving towards another woman.
Her delusional self made her believe that Daniel only belonged to her. Despite her infidelity, Daniel should only be with her and no one else.
As she waited for the article to be posted, she told herself that there was nothing else to lose. After the falling of their family's business and her involvement with the scandal, her dignity and pride had already been squashed anyway.
'As long as you're not yet married, Daniel. I will still hold on to that chance. I will never allow you to marry that woman.' She sneered in her thoughts.
She slumped on the sofa and threw her bag on the side. A few minutes later, her phone beeped when she received a message.
[It's done.]
A smile appeared on her face as she followed the link that was attached to it. Similar to her uncle's tactic, she also asked to have hers run like an ad all over the social networking sites so that it will appear in random places, thus it was quite fast to spread online.
The post had over thousands of comments from different people, some were fans of Samantha who showed support by counter-attacking those who were hating her. But their number was little compared to those who were spiteful towards Samantha and Melissa enjoyed every bit of it.
Deciding to take things further, she opened her page and posted the words: "My first love has left me for someone else. Now I understand how painful it is to hold on when you are no longer wanted." When she was satisfied, she hit send and it was posted on her wall.
Since Melissa is a known musician and a sculpturist, she also had a good number of followers. And over the time that she had been involved in the scandals, they had been giving her support and sending her messages of love and care. So when they saw her post just a few minutes after the article was released, people already jumped into it.
"Ms Mel, that person doesn't deserve you!
"You should let him go! You deserve someone better!"
"Let the both of them rot! You're more beautiful!"
As soon as she read those comments, she felt extremely satisfied. Thinking that her plan was already working, she tossed her phone on the sofa and stood up.
Melissa was already in a good mood, it was as if she didn't even cry earlier. She took a bubble bath and drank wine to celebrate in advance. The day went by so quickly for her and she had only remembered to check on her phone when it got dark outside.
The first thing that she did was to check her own post and the article that was up in the afternoon. She smiled so brightly when she saw the commenters were definitely on her side.
But that smile was soon wiped off her face the instant that she saw some people tagged her on Samantha's post.
"Empty vessels make the most noise." She read out loud and her eyes became frigid.
Her nose flared when she read the other comments.
"Ms Qin, it seems like your head is empty."
"Why do I feel like Qin was the one who posted all those articles from before? Our Samantha had never said anything about the scandals. She's been very quiet."
"This Melissa Qin had probably dropped her brain somewhere."
"What dropped? Ha! If she even had a brain in the first place! That's why she's been so noisy."
There were thousands of comments and a lot of those were directed towards her. She kept on scrolling further down and then back up again… and that's when she almost collapsed when she read another post from Samantha. This time, it was no longer just a plain text.
The very recent one was posted just 20 minutes ago.
It had a picture of Samantha and Daniel having dinner in a fancy restaurant.
Samantha's head touched Daniel's, her eyes were closed and Daniel's were lowered. His arm was around her, and his hand gently placed on her hair. While Samantha's right hand was placed on her chest. Both of them were smiling very sweetly and the picture looked very romantic.
Melissa's chest heaved up and down and she screamed as she threw the phone on the ground! Not feeling satisfied, she thrashed; breaking the glasswares and anything else that was breakable. She was just feeling very high a while ago but upon reading Samantha's caption, she went out of her mind.
Their picture kept flashing before her along with Samantha's words that said,
"People may think that being someone's first love is great. But for me, being someone's last is beyond perfect!
"Sharing a photo of tonight's dinner date.. A celebration of marriage with my husband, Daniel Cho."
