"Samantha! What's wrong?!" Daniel called, the look on her face told him that she wasn't okay.
Gasps were heard within the room when the employees from Trident saw their boss in this state. Just earlier, they were very to happy to see her when she came to visit them and she even brought food with her; they felt really touched by her thoughtfulness. And witnessing her like this, it was quite shocking for them.
The room went quiet before they all started to feel panic. Even the people from outside the room were also frightened because of what they just saw.
Just before Daniel was about to hoist her up to his arms, she regained her footing as she held onto his upper arm for support. The room wasn't spinning anymore but she felt a little tired.
"Sorry, I don't know what happened just now." She spoke, her throat was a bit hoarse.
"Are you in pain somewhere? How do you feel?" He asked as he tried to observe her physical appearance, but the lip product she was wearing hid her pale lips. She did not appear to be sweaty too and her temperature seems to be normal. So what exactly happened?
"I'm not sure." Her eyes darted to the side and her hand was still rubbing the sore neck as she recalled if something else happened before arriving at Cho Corporation but there wasn't anything unusual. "But I feel kind of tired now." She said.
Daniel ran a hand on his hair and nodded. "Let's go, I'll take you to the hospital."
She gulped and then bit her lips as she did not want to go to the hospital. Sensing her hesitation, Daniel already knew what she was thinking. And although he did not like it, he still allowed her to be stubborn. "Fine, I won't take you there but I will call a physician to have you checked. Let's go to my office."
"Okay." She whispered before she faced her team. "I'm sorry for making you worry, I'm fine but I need to leave now. Good luck on your tasks for today and enjoy the food.
"Kristoff, please take care of the team and make sure to call the office for updates." She instructed the team leader.
"Yes, President Kim. I will, you don't have to worry about us here. Please take care." He answered.
As Samantha left the room, she was greeted by the worried gazes of Daniel's employees. She felt quite embarrassed that they had seen what happened just now.
"Why don't you all go inside? There is enough food for everyone." Samantha offered, her hand gestured to the door behind her.
One female employee braved herself to ask, "A-are you okay, Madam?"
Samantha thought how sweet it was that they also worried about her. The previous times that she used to visit Daniel, she would mostly receive curious looks but had never really gotten to interact with them. "I'm fine. I'm just a little tired as I did a lot of things today. Go on ahead, please help yourselves." She spoke before she left with Daniel's arm around her waist, afraid that she might suddenly fall again.
…
"There is nothing wrong with her, all her vital signs are stable and within the normal range." The doctor said as he placed the stethoscope back in his duffle bag. He took a prescription pad from it and started writing down.
"What happened to her earlier… I don't think that was normal." Daniel added.
"Although her vitals are within the normal range, she may be experiencing fatigue. Did your wife do something that she doesn't normally do?"
The two of them looked at each other and remembered the early morning exercise that they did. Was that really the reason?
Seeing the two of them try to recall something, the doctor pressed on, "Mrs. Cho, can you tell me what you did from the moment you woke up until now?"
Samantha explained to him the details of their early morning workout and her visit to Daniel's grandfather in the countryside. Even after recalling everything, she also did not feel like what she did during the day was something that would cause what happened. And when the doctor arrived, she was no longer feeling any pain at all.
The doctor wrote some more on the pad and prescribed her some pain relieving medicine. "You might just be feeling sore because of the exercise this morning. I suggest that you take it easy for the first few days so that your body can adjust to the new routine. If you feel pain again, and only if it is unbearable should you take this." He said as he passed the paper to her.
"Any other symptoms that you will experience from here onwards, take note of it and I recommend that you visit the hospital for a more thorough check-up." The doctor spoke a few more reminders to them before he exited Daniel's office.
When they were left alone, Samantha faced Daniel with a guilty expression. She pursed her lips before she spoke, "I'm sorry that I made you worry but I'm fine now. I don't feel any pain anymore."
He stared back at her, unsure whether he should scold her or scold himself for putting her through the intense workout that morning; he did not think that it was too much at all. "Let's just take it easy from now on. How was your visit to the old mansion?"
Samantha laughed heartily as she recalled the old man's reactions. She told Daniel about everything that happened back when she had lunch with his grandfather and Daniel was glad that at least, his grandfather did not do something outrageous.
…
Two days later.
Driving the black Bugatti Chiron to her grandfather-in-law's mansion, Samantha was allowed to enter the gates smoothly this time. She was pretty excited to visit the old man today and when she arrived at the front entrance, she saw that he was already standing there with Mr. Jiang beside him.
She had hoped that he was not going to be difficult that day as she planned to bring him outside.
She stepped out of her car and with a smile on her face, she walked towards them. "Good afternoon, grandfather."
Grandfather Cho cleared his throat and appeared indifferent from her arrival. "What are you doing here again?" He asked, despite already being told by his assistant that Samantha was going to take him out for a stroll that day. 'A stroll. Tch.' He scoffed in his thoughts.
"I was planning to take you out. I figured that you need a change of scenery since you always stay here." She replied.
"Where?" He probed curtly.
"I… did not have a specific place in mind but I want to take you out for an afternoon tea... if you like." The truth was, Samantha was not sure if he was going to agree with this simple invitation of hers. And the place that she wanted to bring him will also be a gamble on her part as she was not certain if he was going to enjoy going down the memory lane.
With all these doubts in her head, she was surprised to see Grandfather Cho walking forward. 'Did he accept my invitation?'
She followed him as he walked but her eyes widened when she saw him heading to her car which was parked behind his Mercedes. 'Wait… w-why are you..' she wondered.
She stopped in her tracks and so did Mr. Jiang as they were both uncertain of what the old man was thinking.
Grandfather Cho reached the passenger's side of Samantha's luxury sports car and halted when he noticed that the two of them were frozen a few meters away. "What are you two standing there for?"
Samantha and Mr. Jiang exchanged perplexed expressions. Indeed it was her who invited him but shouldn't he insist on using his car for them to go to the city? 'I mean… that's what old people normally do, right?'
"Grandfather, that car is… a little fast. We can take your car if you-" Samantha tried to explain.
With an annoyed look, he reasoned "I thought that you were going to take me out? Shouldn't you be the one driving? This is your car, right?"
'Does this grandfather seriously want to ride in a sports car?'
"What are you still gaping there? My legs are tired!"
Samantha immediately dashed forward "Ah yes, of course.." She hurriedly opened the door of the car and ushered him in while still feeling a little doubtful about his decision to ride with her in the fast car.
