Samantha helped Grandfather Cho inside her Chiron, making sure his head won't bump. When he was settled in, a bright smile was plastered on her face making her look youthful.
"Grandfather, buckle up." She said before she closed the door and got in the driver's seat.
"Tch." He scoffed finding his granddaughter-in-law nagging at him funny but he followed anyway.
Once Samantha was seated, she fixed her own seat belt and turned the engine on. The luxury car came to life and Grandfather Cho subtly gripped the belt as if he was making sure that it was tightly fastened.
All his life, he has actually never been in a sports car before and the drive coming to the city was his first experience. He was an adventurous man but after he founded the Cho Corporation, he had been constantly working — so traveling and other hobbies became somewhat a luxury for him.
When his son, Daniel's father became the chairman, he still supported him and backed him behind the scenes. He was a workaholic before he retired. And when he was finally free from the business responsibilities, he started to travel again.
Sometimes he will be gone for months and stay in different countries which were mostly far from his homeland. Constantly seeing and appreciating the beautiful destinations that he visits.
Today was something out of the ordinary for him. And trusting his granddaughter-in-law with his life while he rides in this monster of a car, is something that he was unsure of but was willing to take the risk.
With the song entitled 'Song 2' by Blur playing in the background, it set her mood — Samantha stepped on the pedal and joined the traffic. She was driving within the speed limit as she was still within the busy city. However, when they were nearing the expressway connecting the city to the suburbs, she started to pick up her speed by putting more pressure on the gas pedal.
Grandfather Cho gulped when he felt the gradual increase in how fast they were going at that moment, he initially thought that he was ready. His heart started to pump and the hair on his skin rose. Was he really ready for another round of that incredibly fast drive?
It had only been five minutes but they were already on the expressway. Whereas if she had driven slower, it would have taken them ten minutes to get there. Passing through the toll gate, she increased her speed more and they were driving at 100km/h which was the maximum speed limit.
They went past cars after cars and with Samantha's skill, she was able to maneuver the wheel very smoothly. But was she as good as her husband?
As soon as they exited the expressway and was already on the countryside where there were very fewer cars, Samantha glanced at the old man from the side and saw him clench his jaw as he gripped the handle on the door panel — seemingly shocked but didn't tell her to slow down.
Samantha chuckled. 'Well, as long as you gave me your consent.' She thought.
"Grandpa, hold on tight!" She spoke, her voice a little louder than usual making him tighten his hold on the handle.
As she stepped on the accelerator, her speed went up very fast — 120km/h… 140… 160… 180…
Samantha could very easily go even faster but she decided that it was already quite fast, she didn't want to scare him that much.
However, she glanced at the passenger's side and was surprised to see the expression on the old man's face. Is he actually smiling? Is he seriously smiling while the car is this fast?
Samantha chuckled at the sight and her chuckle made Grandfather Cho turn his head to her. He was very thrilled to be in that car and experience a tremendously and absolutely fast sports car.
The car sped through the long road without another car in sight.
In his excitement, he adjusted his grip on the handle but his hand slipped — accidentally pressing the window switch. The window on his right suddenly lowered and the wind came gushing in hitting his head, his combed hair disheveled. He panicked when it happened and didn't know which button to press.
Luckily, Samantha was quick as she closed his window using the switch on her left in only a couple of seconds after it opened. Grandfather Cho breathed out a sigh of relief.
Not long after, they finally arrived at the gates of his mansion. The normal travel time that was supposedly almost an hour, only took them less than twenty minutes. They briefly stopped as the guards greeted and checked but had perplexed expression when they saw their master inside.
Entering the gates, Samantha finally parked in front of the entrance. She quickly got out of the car and went to the other side, helping Grandfather Cho out.
When the old man straightened himself, Samantha saw his weirdly messed up hair and she could not help but burst out laughing. Her shoulders shook as she looked at the adorable old man in front of her who was oblivious with his current appearance.
His usual cold demeanor was overtaken by his unkempt hair as if he just got out of bed, as if he had forgotten to comb his hair for days.
Confused by her laugh, he wondered why she was reacting this way. 'Is there something wrong with my face?' He thought.
And as if by instincts, he looked at his reflection on the window of Samantha's car beside him. His mouth hung open in the shape of an O, a bit horrified by his own image. He hurriedly fixed his hair using the comb that he always keeps inside his suit jacket… you know, for an emergency like this.
"I'm sorry for laughing, grandfather." 'Not sorry, actually.' She thought, biting her lip and hugging herself to stop laughing.
When he was satisfied, he placed the comb back in his safety pocket where thieves have difficult access. Facing Samantha, he looked at her with his fierce eyes and cleared his throat.
She pursed her lips and abruptly stopped, her face flushed. "Thank you for today, grandfather. I had a great time." She said with a slight smile.
With a huff, he walked past her and Samantha watched his back.
"Just call me grandpa like you used to." He spoke as he walked away leaving Samantha behind. His face looked brighter than when he left home earlier that afternoon.
Samantha cheerfully smiled and responded, "Yes, grandpa!"
Walking towards the door of his house, a carefree smile appeared on his face. An expression that surprised the servants when they saw him as he rarely smiled like this.
She felt very pleased to know that the difficult old man's heart had already melted. She just hoped that he would not go back on his old ways and be cold to her again.
Feeling satisfied, Samantha got back inside her car and left Grandfather Cho's mansion.
"Mission Accomplished.." She muttered to herself as she drove towards the cliffside villa, excited to see her husband who had just texted her that he has arrived home early.
