Outside of Spring Grove Hospital
Daniel opened the door for Samantha but she did not get inside the car. Instead, she faced Daniel and looked up at him. "What's wrong?" he asked when he noticed the sad look on her face.
So much had happened during the day but among all of those, the only thing that was really stuck in her heart was when Nancy lost her baby. She had been strong the entire time that she was kidnapped and was even very sharp with her words but her heart had always been soft.
Lowering her head, she brought her hands up and covered her face. Her tears just started to fall at the same time that her shoulders shook. She didn't want to cry about the matter but she couldn't control herself.
"Honey…" Daniel pulled her towards him and let her lean on his chest. Although Samantha did not say anything, he knew what she was depressed about. He tightened his arms around her and let her cry some more, kissing the top of her head and hushing her.
Samantha had lost her memories for a long time because of the trauma that she experienced when she was a teen. And when she recovered them, she and Nancy had always been bitter to each other. But no matter how much they felt about each other, she couldn't help but feel the pain for her. The baby was innocent but she still lost it. She disliked Nancy but she never wished harm for her baby.
And she fell while they were fighting. She had asked herself: Could it have been prevented? The scene from earlier played in her mind again and she grimaced when she recalled how Nancy fell badly on the floor.
"It's not your fault. I hope you're not blaming yourself," Daniel gently stroked the back of her head.
Samantha lightly shook her head even though she was unsure. She was just very tired and emotional that she was feeling drained that night.
"Good, can you stop crying now? Someone's waiting for you at home," he whispered into her ear.
Raising her head, she met his gaze. "Ashton?"
"Yes." Daniel wiped the tears from her face with the use of his handkerchief. He leaned in and placed a soft and gentle kiss on her lips. "Shall we go now?"
With a nod, Samantha embraced him once more before finally going inside the car.
As soon as they got back home, Samantha was welcomed by her parents but their reunion was cut short as she had been wanting to go to her baby right away. However, before she went near Ashton, she decided to have a quick shower. When she was satisfied with how clean she was, she immediately scooped him up from his crib and just hugged him all throughout the night. She could never imagine not having her baby by her side.
That night, the family of three was once again, complete. Within Daniel's warm embrace, he had with him the love of his life and their little Ash.
…
The next morning
Liam was on the phone with his brother Daniel who was updating him about what happened to Samantha. After their long conversation on the phone, he went to the living room and sat beside Becca; she was busy writing a blog from her latest trip.
"Is everything okay?" she asked as she continued to type away.
Liam then started to recall what his brother told him over the phone from Samantha's kidnapping to Nancy's miscarriage and how everything ended. His brother had called him the night before and told him about the incident briefly but Liam could only wait for news. He didn't dare tell Becca about it last night because he didn't want her to worry.
In the middle of it, Becca had already stopped writing and just slumped on the sofa. She had been quiet the entire time until he finished telling her everything.
Realizing that she hadn't said anything since, Liam thought that she was mad that he didn't tell her right away. "I'm sorry that I didn't tell you about it last night. You were already very tired and I didn't want to worry you."

Becca still remained quiet but the look on her face didn't say that she was mad. Instead, she looked distressed or uneasy.
"Becca, say something… are you okay?" Liam gently touched her face and pulled her chin to face him.
She finally looked at him in the eye but it was only for a brief second before she looked away. She opened her mouth and was about to say something but then she pursed her lips into a thin line and sighed. She was clearly having a hard time and Liam didn't know what was on her mind.
"Is there something you want to say?" he probed.
Becca curled her hand into a ball and lowered her head. "Liam… I… I don't think I want to have kids."
"What do you mean? Are you saying that you're not ready yet?" He tilted his head to the side, unsure of what she meant at that moment. Why was she suddenly thinking about this? "It's okay… we don't have to have kids right away. I mean we still have time. We can-"
"No… Liam, I meant… I meant that I don't want to have kids… at all."
Becca slowly raised her head until she met his questioning gaze. She saw the change in his expression. She was sure that he was confused and possibly hurt. They looked at each other without talking for what seemed like forever until Liam finally found his voice again.
"Why?" he asked. He had so many questions in his head but that was all that he could mutter.
"I don't want you to think that I don't love you… I do. I really do and you know that. But… I just can't see myself as a mother." Becca's voice trailed off at the last part.
Liam knew about Becca's broken family. He understood that she did not have a great childhood and that she missed a lot growing up unlike him and Daniel who were close to their parents. But what she said just didn't sit right with him. He had thought that she wanted to build a family with him. But how were they going to do that if she didn't want to have kids?
"I thought you liked kids." Liam's voice was melancholic as he turned away and leaned on the sofa.
"I do… I like kids. I like Ashton." She moved closer to him and held his arm. She was afraid that this was going to be a problem for them. Her heart ached as she tried to explain herself. "But I don't think I want to have one of my own."
Liam's heart throbbed upon hearing her. His brows knitted as he continued, "But it's not only yours, Becca. It will be ours. Don't you want that?"
Her lips trembled as she looked away. She didn't like to see the hurt in his eyes that she had caused. She didn't want to hurt him like this but what can she do? She truly didn't think that she wanted to become a mother. What was she supposed to do?
"Not even adoption?" he wondered.
"It's not about giving birth, Liam. It's the idea of taking care of a child. It's a huge responsibility and I don't think I will be good at it. I just… I don't want to be like my parents."
"You are not like them. Why would you think that? You're a different person, Becca."
"You're just saying that." Becca sighed heavily. The conversation was very hard for the two of them. She and Liam rarely fight and this was the most heartbreaking conversation that they ever had and they aren't even arguing. They're just both hurt.
"Do you know how it was growing up with my parents? I didn't even know what was normal because they were the only models that I saw when I was young. I was neglected as a child and I don't know what mothers are supposed to do or to be because I didn't have that with my mom!"
Liam knew that it was a very sore spot for Becca to talk about her childhood but he believed that this matter was such a big deal in their relationship.
The room fell silent and neither of them spoke.. He wanted to have kids but she doesn't. How were they supposed to work around that?
