Noon arrived and so did the sharks swimming around Seulgi’s office, scenting blood. But, the office was empty. They eventually left, disappointed at the missed opportunity to legitimately harass their friend and boss. Nayeon and Jackson started plotting the next ambush while Yeji wandered off to get her lunch out of the office break room fridge.

Thirty minutes earlier: “Nope. I’m NOT going to deal with this,” Seulgi thought as she skipped out of the office for an early lunch. One of the advantages of being The Boss is that she could come up with all sorts of excuses to be out of the office. Especially when she wanted to avoid embarrassing questions. As long as the work got done, the higher ups didn’t care what sort of shenanigans she got up to.

Besides, she had a lunch date with Shon Seung-wan. And that was more important than the impending interrogation.

On that awful evening when she tripped and skinned herself up, the person who had stopped to ask how she was was none other than the singer that she had been looking for: Shon Seung-wan. The tiny dynamo had seen what happened and rushed over to see if she was alright.

Although Seulgi had never seen her face, her voice was unmistakable. It was impossible for anyone else to sound like her.

At 160cm, with shoulder length brown hair, and a heart shaped face, she was an incredibly attractive woman. Her warm brown eyes and her sensual carmine mouth were both made for laughing. And when she laughed, she laughed with her whole body. There was nothing polite about her laughter, she was loud and unashamed when she went all out. This sometimes embarrassed her family, but after moving out of her home, she was less concerned with being ‘proper’ when laughing.

She was also infectious when she started laughing. And when she started, she had a hard time stopping. And so did the people around her. When she smiled, it was impossible not to smile with her. She just had that thing about her that made a room brighten several dozen lumens just by walking into it.

Only a hardcore misanthrope could resist Seung-wan. And our girl Seulgi was far, far away from being a misanthrope. She was an absolute people person. She was one of those rare extroverts that even introverts loved.

As Seung-wan was also an extrovert, they were both about to be incredibly obnoxious to everyone in the near vicinity with their robust laughter. They even managed to create a few echoes in the surrounding area, much to the pleasure of passersby. Seung-wan’s warm alto voice and Seulgi’s sweet soprano voice managed to laugh in harmony without trying.

They met for an outside lunch date at a small park near both of their offices. It was a tiny affair with a small water fountain, a couple of shrubs, and some grass. There were also a few trees that would shade the few park benches for people to sit and people watch as the foot traffic went by. Neither of them noticed all of the eyes on them. Two beautiful women, sitting on a bench chatting had quite the striking visual impact. Seung-wan was used to it, Seulgi was oblivious. As usual.

As this was their first official meeting, they were both fairly reserved. They started by giving each other a greeting and their names again, using proper etiquette. They were not stiff, per se, but they were still feeling each other out to see if they were compatible enough to be friendly and perhaps even friends.

Then they sat down and opened their respective lunch boxes.

Both women had brought a packed lunch and they started chatting while eating. Seung-wan appeared to have better table manners than Seulgi. While not quite dainty, she was not at Seulgi’s level of stuffing her face. Seulgi did not quite wallow in her plates, but it was a near thing.

Seulgi brought lettuce for wraps and several different ingredients to use for filling. She would lay the wrap on her thigh, add cheese, add some beef bulgogi, and some mushrooms, then fold it all up to the size nearly as large as her fist and proceeded to stuff it all into her mouth.

Seung-wan was at first horrified, then mortified, then fascinated, and finally impressed with her new friend’s maxillary dexterity. She even managed to masticate while maintaining the conversation. This was also something that Seung-wan was fascinated by. She had grown up in a much more conservative household where proper manners were strictly enforced.

Seung-wan was a second generation rich girl whose parents were very affluent. She was not royalty, but she was still part of high society where proper decorum was important. She had been educated abroad in both the US and Canada and had quite a proper etiquette. Being able to eat properly in front of high society was impressed on her at a very early age.

So her eyes nearly popped out the first time that Seulgi stuffed that fist-sized wrap in her mouth. The second followed just as fast. She was numb to it by the third. And when the fourth was devoured, she started to wonder just how Seulgi managed to keep such a trim figure.

She was just impressed that Seulgi knew how to enjoy herself while eating so well.

Seulgi was watching Seung-wan eat as well. Her small, concise portions and neatly delivered bites gave the impression that this was a Proper Young Lady. Still, she was a bit too into her wraps to worry about any potential faux pas.

They started by talking about the concert. Then moved on to groups they liked. Then on to music in general. They had a lot in common with what they liked. Seung-wan had been exposed to a much wider variety of music, having been educated abroad. She turned Seulgi on to some western pop music that she would probably like. She also included some old 80’s music, some R&B, and other things that might spark her interest. She did not bring out the entire catalog of music that she was interested in because she didn’t want to overwhelm Seulgi during their first meeting.

She knew that they would have plenty of time to explore each other’s musical tastes as she was sure they were going to be very good friends.

Seulgi was of the same mindset. She was also looking forward to all the conversations they would have in the future. She didn’t have many friends outside of work, so she knew that Seung-wan would be her tiny fairy like friend.

So far, they both agreed that they would meet again soon. Maybe lunch tomorrow?

Both agreed. They were so lost in conversation that time had slipped by and they both had to return to work. One with a bit more decorum than the other.

Seulgi still managed to trip on the way back to the office despite the even pavement. She didn't fall, though. This time.
