Seulgi walked into a catastrophe. The office was designed to have about thirty people sitting comfortably at desks with plenty of elbow room so they are not on top of each other. Newish equipment. Computers with dual or triple monitors for adequate screen space for working. Several of the desks have lift kits so you could work standing up or sitting down. Everything is ergonomic, even the mice.
Currently, there were about fifteen people in the room. Thirteen of them huddled against the wall. Two were in the center of the room, facing each other. One man, one woman.
The woman looked shocked, facing to the left with a large hand print across the right side of her cheek.
The man looks furious. Obviously, he was the one who slapped the woman.
“HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT ABOUT MY WIFE?!” the man roared. He had tears running down his face. His obsidian eyes were borderline feral. It was known by everyone that his wife of fifteen years had died a month ago of cancer.
“You do not get to even IMPLY that she is better off dead! You do not get to say that I should be happy that she is gone! You DO NOT even get to mention that I should be relieved that THE WOMAN I LOVE IS GONE!”
At this point, the man actually collapses to the floor, sobbing.
“B-b-ut, all I meant wa...” stuttered the woman
“SHUT UP”! Don’t say another word, you…you…” and by that time the man had broken down into incoherent sobbing and could not make anything coherent.
At this time Seulgi’s crew showed up. Seulgi started issuing orders.
“Jackson, take him to conference room A. Nayeon, take her to conference room B. Yeji, start finding out what happened here from the rest.”
Security showed up as she was spitting orders. She told the lead security to get the head of the shift up here pronto.
Seulgi got a craft of water and a couple of glasses and went to conference room A. Before entering she told the security guards to stand by to prevent anyone from leaving.
She entered the room and the man was too much of a mess to talk to, let alone be helpful. Everyone knew that the man was very mild mannered. He never said anything offensive and tried to be as cheerful and positive as possible. Seulgi was like everyone else, she really liked this man. His outburst was as out of character as anything imaginable. Everyone was shocked by this. Probably not as shocked as he would be once he’s calmed down, which would not be any time soon.
She left the water in front of Jackson and nodded for him to stay there to comfort the man as he could. She had one security guard posted inside the room, as well as to make sure that the distraught man didn’t do anything rash
Knowing what happened to the man’s wife and his obvious anguish, her anger was tough to contain. She didn’t know what was said, but it was obviously very upsetting.
She quietly left the room to head to conference room B. She asked Yeji to get the company nurse to come to conference room A to check on the man.

She brought another guard with her as well, to monitor the situation in conference room B. Just in case.
The hand print had lessened on her face, but it was still there. The shocked look, however, was still there.
Nayeon, ever the quick thinker, had a pad of paper and a pen, writing down what the woman was saying. It was a good thing that she took a stenographer’s shorthand class in college because the woman was flooding a torrent of a mixture of excuses, allegations, and accusations. Whatever had happened was not her fault. She did nothing wrong. He actually struck her. She wanted to call the police and press charges. She had never in her life been so insulted. Her tirade was growing ever more profane. Nayeon actually had to wipe the saliva off her face once.
Seulgi could see that Nayeon’s impenetrable good cheer had some very large cracks in it. Her good mood was legendary. Yet, it looked like she was contemplating if she should take a swing at this vile person, too.
She stepped back outside of the conference room and took out her cell phone. She managed to call these two’s manager and get him on the phone. She said that there was a situation that was happening that he needed to drop everything and get back here. Now.
The manager knew that Seulgi was not prone to be this serious nor to exaggerate when things happened. He dropped everything by telling his luncheon group there was a problem back in the office and he had to leave. He then headed back to the office. They told him to go and they’d pick up his tab. The manager didn’t waste time with thank yous or goodbyes.
The situation was fairly locked down by the time he got back. When he got back, most of his people were all shell shocked. There was sobbing from one conference room and a verbal tirade from another. Seulgi gave him the quick and dirty version of what she saw.
While this was happening, everyone jumped at the slamming of conference room B’s door and Nayeon of all people shouting.
“For the love of all that’s holy, SHUT YOUR MOUTH.”
Nayeon actually lost her cool. That alone was a feat that was unprecedented. Seulgi was momentarily speechless. Nayeon walked off, no one had the audacity to stop her as she stomped off.
There was an indignant squawk in the room, then silence.
There was another, softer yet harder, voice from the room heard. “You will sit back down, ma’am, and wait for the authorities.” Which authorities were not stated, but implied.
This was followed by another indignant squawk as she was forcefully pushed back into her seat while the door closed.
People had made jokes about this very entitled woman’s name in the past due to internet memes. But now, it was just ironic that her name was Karen. It seems that she has lived up to the meme’s reputation.
Seulgi have a half amused chuckle to herself as she thought, “At least no one is going to bother me about my lunch date.”
