Chapter 5: Familiars Yay!

Gwendolyn POV 

      Today Clementine and I are going to summon our first familiar. In this world a person will summon a familiar after they get their first job. Then when they come of age 13 they can contract another familiar. If you are successful at 13 then you get the tamer skill.its harder than it sounds. According to my father you have to have a lot of mana, and patience to contract even one beast. You have to earn the creature trust. This technique can kill a person.

       "Are you 2 ready?" My father asks. He doesn't sign that much. He says that it's a hassle and since I know how to read lips there's no need to change. He does know what I'm saying though. I just think he's lazy.

       "Can I go first dad?" Clementine asked enthusiastically 

        "Of course you just need to poor your magic into the circle then write the name of your familiar once it shows up." My dad says.

         I thought it was really simple at least I won't speak. Then Clementine began and a bright flash came and what came was a chimera.She quickly wrote the name Scales. Then a chimera mark appeared on her shoulder. And it vanished just like that. The familiar will come when you summon it but can not stay in this world unless you give it magic energy to feed of. Then it was my turn the same thing happened to me and I got a rare one. It was an ice and dark Phoenix. I named Shadow. And just like how it appeared it vanished just the same way.

      Now that I think about it Priscilla summoned a Healing Bird she called Shine. It was only good for healing, so most people thought it was useless in the frontlines.How weird it is for both of us to get bird type familiars. Ah now that I think about it her contract creature is a light unicorn which is very rare to tame. It was only good for running away in the game. Such a hopeless character that Priscilla is. Well she's not my concern, until we start school in 9 years.
