Chapter 1

     "Sir! The, the-.."

     "The what?"

"It showed some signs! It appears to be waking up!"

And with those words, the whole research laboratory fell into silence

One bravely asked, "What we found before, researched before, were they.." He looked at them, "..true?"

The professor shook his head, albeit warily.

"No, we don't know, other than the High Celestials, nobody else knows."

They sighed, "Don't tell them the news."

They all accepted that believing the Kings is better than fighting them. After all, they're nothing but mere humans.

What was the real story of what happened back then?

..

Huge stones crashed and fell, rocks and gravel slowly slid off and showed a figure of the temple— and caused exclamations from the nearby hoarders.

      "Ah!"

"What was that?" One of them asked, warily searching for more unbidden noise.

"We don't know–" Then, another crack revealed the temple completely.

The hoarders became curious, "Should…should we get inside?"

Some shook their heads out of fear, but more people became excited. Maybe, there's a treasure? Scripts of different kinds? Ancient artifacts? Thrones and treasures of ruined rulers? Oh, the possibilities, some of them thought, greed taking root in their heads.

As they walked deep into the temple, they saw countless writings on the wall but the dust made it so that it couldn’t be seen clearly.

They heard more cracks and crashes, which prompted them to huddle near or farther from the rest. "Ahh! Help!" One of them shouted. Then one after another they all fell through the opened pit, coughing, but luckily someone immediately opened a flashlight.

      "Ah!"

      "The torches!"

One by one, torches lit up anonymously, leading a new path to them.

      "What's this..?"

"I- I'm scared, should we just go back? Let's just apologize to the master of this temple–"

Someone quickly shut down their suggestion, "No, no! This is a treasure, every piece of this place. An antique, if we showed this to the royal family or nobles...we'll…we’ll get rich!" Just by looking at the writings here, it's worth more than a hundred million star coins! Possibly even more!

Their already deep-rooted greed appeared and they calculated in their minds the amount of wealth they’ll have by the end of this. With such money, no one could be sharing it with anyone…

As they walked deeper into the new path, "I see a light there! Let's go!"

A small pyramid-like structure with a coffin on top?

Some showed glee, while others showed animosity. Where's the treasure? Could it be inside the coffin? How would they even retrieve it?

One bravely walked through the stairs, "W- wait! Maybe there are traps, be careful!" The man looked at her with contempt, "Idiot! We've been here for hours yet you just realized that?" The woman fell into silence.

As they were waiting for the man, they also got ready for a serious case.

Opening the coffin, he saw a man. More beautiful than that of a woman. With long hair, pale skin, dense eyelashes which fluttered like a butterfly as the man slowly opened his blue eyes.

The man who opened the coffin's lid bravely stiffened chills slowly corroding his back, still speechless either in shock…or fear. Everyone saw a beautiful man slowly sitting up.

He's beautiful, but he's dangerous, was what they all thought. After all, what kind of person would be buried in this olden temple? However, no matter what thought passed their minds, all they could think of was his elegance.

"Well.. well.. well, interesting.." the beautiful man smiled, the hoarders were hooked. Loving every piece of him. So beautiful, yet so evil.

"Who would have known that a group of humans actually trespassed my sleeping chamber and even woke me up from my sleep!" He grinned, showing off pearly white teeth.

He stood up, wearing a complicated dress, and slowly looked his pair of blue eyes at the man who opened his lid, he scanned his eyes on this man who woke him from his sleep "A man... What is it that you desire?" Squinting at him, as if slowly hooking up the man's soul.

The man's eyes went blank and he said in careful, breathless words, "I want immortality."

An eternal life that everybody longs for.. he'd have it! An eternal life! Immortality, ha. Haha haha! Dark thoughts filled the man's mind, greed slowly covering his soul.

The woman that once mocked earlier heard it briefly, but it was enough to snap her awake.

As if there was an instinct growing inside her, she looked at the beautiful man.

There's something wrong, and she just can't put her finger on it.

The beauty smiled, like a spider weaving silk to trap its prey.

That smile is like an enchantment that could trick you into selling your soul with a devil.

Devil?

"Very well, thou shall be granted." - "In exchange, for a soul. Where is your offering?"

Looking at the man, it was as if his words were already expected. She took her dagger.

The man slowly looked at his back, staring at the hoarders who slowly became pale and gravely looking at them, "Dear lord. You can have them as my," greed filling his eyes, ".. offer-"

"Who are you?! And why are you alive?" She cuts the man off.

The man's eyes showed annoyance.

And it was as if the thread that once played them as puppets snapped, and everyone woke up.

Exactly, who is he, why is he in a coffin, why is he alive in the coffin.

What do you mean by sleeping in a coffin?!

His smile, his words, his everything. It's like a wolf hiding in a sheep's skin- and entering the pen of sheep.

And once the wolf revealed its true self, the sheep would back away.

Like they do.

They don't wanna die. No one wants to die.

And with this, they gradually realized that they were being played.

"Just stay low and be good little offerings…"

Hoarders: "Shut up, Mario!"

The man was interrupted, and his dark greed couldn't be washed away. And from the looks of it, he was successfully weaved by the vicious spider that even has the guts to put a ribbon in it.

While they were arguing about life and death, the woman was looking for possible ways to escape.

But the only way was that hallway and the hole that dropped them here.

If we can't escape, then the only way was to kill the master of the tomb.

I want the treasure. - I won't die.

The woman charged to the man named Mario, the rest of the hoarders below were either supporting her or sneaking to the pretty man.

The coffin man raised his hand, like playing the piano, he controlled the man with the darkest greed. Like he was some kind of puppet.

With every move of his fingers, the greedy man moved unconsciously. Beating those hoarders into getting stunned and crippled.

His hand's moves are like waters flowing, so smooth, so graceful.

But everyone around knows how terrifying this man's hands are.

"There, there we go… Sir, your offerings are ready!" The man said as if he was saying dinner is ready.

The time is coming, I'm rich, I'm powerful. I'm immortal!!

The beautiful man smiled at his thoughts, as they say, greed overcomes the sanity of a man. Nothing changes.

"No! No! You bastard! You can't!"

Panic rose through them, chills creeping their backs, the 'offerings' tried to back away but they can't with their legs that couldn't even move.

"Stop!!"

"Please dear lord, don't-"

"I don't wanna die!!"

Squinting his pair of charming blue eyes, "Then, I'd gladly take your offering." With one wave, those hoarders lost their life as you can see it with their eyes, slowly becoming blank. And finally, fell on the ground like puppets.

It was a good entertainment, good thing my piano skills didn't rust.

Somewhere in the world, an earthquake happened. And underground, there was a palace that looks like it hasn't lost its luster even after all these years, 7 thrones stood in the middle. One of them lit an emblem that symbolizes greed.

He looked at the excited man. A smile creeps his lips, and slowly, "I am back."

The man died.

As they welcomed, King of Greed, Vorjax Sinnen.

-

"A total of 23 missing people, sir." The secretary said, "The families of the missing people have been calling them since last week ago, and just now the soldiers in charge of that area realized the danger." and just now they started to give the report... with so many missing information.

The man stopped fixing his tie, "Occupation? why are they missing?" turning around, he asked the secretary

"Their occupation is.." She paused, the man raised his eyebrows to her, "Hoarders."

The man violently pulled off his tie and yelled, "Those illegal people who steal the treasure of the Empire?! Let it be!"

Treasure of the Empire? the secretary secretly snickered, it was the treasure of the Kings. Not the current Royal Family.

"What were they doing the time they went missing?"

"Sir.." They're missing, how would I know? those incompetent soldiers didn't even bother investigating, the secretary rolled her eyes internally, "The report didn't show anything as of now..-"

"Ha! Probably stealing the treasures of the Empire, again!" The great predictor, the tool of Empire award goes to you, sir. The secretary secretly mocked.

Sneering in her heart, the secretary bowed, and not-so respectfully said, "Sir, I have done my report, please excuse me..-"

"Wait."

The secretary stopped and turned around. She saw her ugly boss' eyes looking straight at her- her legs, with lewd and disgusting eyes.

The boss walked forward to her, "Why don't we have some, fun?" While scanning her body.

The secretary, who's new to the job, didn't know that the special treatment would be like this. In anger, she kicked the boss' knee and elbowed his face.

Proud of what she'd done, she turned away elegantly, special treatment? What an ass. I'd rather quit the job of hundreds of thousands of star coins instead of being molested by this, ugly-looking with a small brain boss.

Vorjax walked out of his temple built by mortals ages ago, like a god coming out in spring, his beauty is almost unparalleled- except for his brothers.

Beauty is nothing to them, but for a King like him, who loves to mess around. It was one of the greatest weapons to do his job.

What Vorjax saw after walking out of his temple was a vast forest. However, instead of hearing some beasts' roars and birds, even with his keen hearing, there's nothing to be heard of.

A job of killing people? No. He took their life because this is breaking the Rule. They, the Kings, once told the mortals the Rules.

But it looks like the mortals have forgotten the Rules or the last generation of mortals that served them didn't intend to do so,

The King of Greed sharpened his eyes, mortals are too fragile but cunning. To think that they will bring trouble to their future generation. Despicable.

This time, it looks like mortals went forward too far. But in exchange for his pity on what their ancestors did, he won't move what they've worked for.

But the Kings would rule again, after all, they are the original rulers. And not some petty humans who don't even have the blood of the Kings!

The audacity of those humans to create such mendacity... outrageous.

The King's thoughts stopped when he saw some light balls go near him, "Prayers? To think that living beings still pray to the Kings..."

A faithful prayer commits a whitest, purest light. A prayer with sins lit a dark one. The prayer with love lights a red one, whilst the prayer that flickers is the prayer that's on the verge of unfaithfulness.

Holding the light balls, Vorjax took the floating ball with the lightest color, scanned it a bit in astonishment. Who would have thought that some living beings still remember, and pray to one of the Kings?

After checking the purest, light ball. He used his power that symbolizes his sign and made the light ball float higher, and with the wave of his hand- the light ball started flickering and a sound of pious prayer broke the silence of the forest.

"The King of Greed, please save us from this calamity, the goblins are willing to serve you all of our life. I beg of you, your majesty. Please, please."

A little goblin praying.

The King glanced in astonishment once again. A goblin? Goblins is the race that he used to govern and lead.

In exchange for this little goblin's piety, it won't be worth much blessing him. Isn't? but calamity.. what calamity? should it be nature's revenge? but no. As far as he sensed, nature's consciousness hasn't woken up.

A calamity... interesting. But it won't cost much to save this little goblin's race. After all, it is a race that he used to govern.

But before helping, of course, we need to see the goods first.

-

In the conference hall,

"The goblins called us for help" a guy wearing glasses, looking so neat and smart, said. "They said that a certain prophecy would bring them doom. A calamity."

Another guy looked at him, with a trace of confusion within his eyes, "Calamity? it should be a nature's cause. Right?"

"Maybe, or maybe not. We got first-hand technology. If it cannot be detected then it may not be nature, or the equipment is broken"

"It's not like our technology would go wrong out of a sudden right?"

"Then maybe what the goblins said is just utter nonsense. After all, it's interstellar. It should be weird that our technology not detecting any danger."

"What if... it's not nature's cause?"

Everyone in the conference hall looked at the person talking, a scientist wearing the uniform from the Empire's top-notch research group.

Everyone snickered, "Are you a researcher from the Empire? A top-notch one at that?"

"Ha... High-tech equipment? That can detect something, you say? what about the disaster a decade ago that didn't get detected by your so-called high-tech equipment!" the scientist fires back.

Everyone was taken aback, after all, it was a topic that cannot be talked about.

The disaster of the Federation was an event decade ago. Most people say it's because the people in the Federation are bad. While some say it's the underhand tactics of the Empire, the Empire gave the high-ranking officials of the Federation a piece of dilapidated equipment.

Although the Federation can fight the Empire, because of the sudden disaster they thought that time was just nothing. They got no funds to get a piece of new equipment. Who could have thought that the disaster they thought was nothing could be that big?

Some of the Empire's properties were destroyed, although it's small some of the properties such as the research laboratory's important files were destroyed. So the Empire also suffered a great loss.

"So .. what now?"

Sighing, a man stood up, "Let's just contact the Temple of Light."
