I did something wrong. I can tell I did something wrong but if you ask me what it is, I have nothing to offer. Euphemia is mad at me but I am confused on what part of my actions. Pushing Bran is one, but she doesn't seem to be too mad about that and that's the only thing I have done this week that could warrant any anger.
But I didn't have much time to think because… dinner… was served but it was more like a party than dinner. Music is loud, people are dancing, I'm not too sure if alcohol is involved but someone said to bring out 'Sun's Tears' and it sounded a lot like a cocktail to me. In the middle of it all, is a fire to keep everyone warm. There are logs everywhere, and people sit there and talk. And I don't do a lot of those.
"Is the food good… Ah, what's your name, young man?" Raquel, Matt's wife, asks Bran.
Bran smiles. "My name is Brand—" he awkwardly glances at me before clearing his throat. "Just Bran."
Raquel's eyes jump from Bran to me like she finds something funny. "Okay, Just Bran. How's the food?"
"It's so tasty and delicious. I haven't eaten anything like it."
"Euphemia and Sophia here brought the meat, you know?"
Bran just nods before diving into his food again.
"How are you, guys?" Raquel looks over at me and Euphemia. "How's the house? How's your first day?"
"It's been good." Euphemia answers with a smile. She looks pleasant, too, like we aren't having tension with each other that even Bran picks up enough to actually look up between me and her. "I took a nap, it's been lovely, really. Thank you for the hospitality."
"No need to thank us! A lot of us here haven't eaten lots of meat, I'm sure Matt or the Village Chief had told you, right? Our speciality isn't really needed a lot so the pay is low and the work is slow but we get by just enough to eat, you know? And meat is a luxury we really can't afford, but you gave us some and we couldn't be more grateful."
"It's a trade, Raquel." Euphemia still has her smile on. "Just like you said, no need to thank us."
"How about you, Sophia?" Raquel turns to me. "You don't really talk a lot."
"Nothing to say." I answer.
Bran snorts.
Euphemia's smile falters. "She says… enough."
Raquel seems to pick something up from that but probably decided that it isn't worth ruining the good mood everybody is having right now for it. "I see. Well, I'm sure you have a story of your own."
"Maybe." I replied.
I don't really do good with crowds. Even in my first life where I had more friends than I had in all of my other lives combined, I was an 'introvert'. I speak to strangers when I have to but I would rather not, if I could help it. It didn't really do me good that after my first life, my reincarnations got worse, especially the last one. I had more scars than I had stories and sometimes the scars paint a prettier picture than words ever will.
"Dinner is great, though." I try not to wince on my own words.
Raquel just grins. "Ain't that right? I cooked it!"
I finish my food and slip away while everyone is still having fun. Like I said, I'm not really too keen with parties and crowds. Euphemia looks like she is, though and I don't think I've seen Bran put his plate down.
I'm about to enter the place they lent us when I hear Matt calling for me.
"Sophia! Sophia, right?"
"Yes?"
"Well, the jar you asked for is finished. I was hoping you'd like to check it out."
"I do." I pause a little. "By the way, do you have a place where I can get water from?"
"Sure, we do. There's a well not far from the village chief's house."

"Can I go there?"
"I wouldn't know why," Matt raises an eyebrow. "But yes."
"Okay, Matt, lead the way for the jar."
Matt guides me somewhere, close enough to the party to hear the muffled cheerful laughter but far enough I can still hear Matt talking.
"Here it is."
I look at the jar. It is big. Still wet in a few places but it probably wouldn't take to dry out. "I like it."
"They got excited when they found out the people who brought our meat were the ones who asked for this jar. They got carried away."
"It's fine, more space for water, anyway."
Then, Matt says, "Are you heading to the well? Should I send Raquel for some to —"
"That's a big jar." A familiar voice rings in my ears. I turn my head and find Euphemia coming closer. "Is it finished?"
Matt doesn't seem to think much of it because he just answers, "Still needs to dry, but yes. Maybe around afternoon tomorrow, it can come with y'all."
"Great!" Euphemia exclaims. "Where are you going next?"
"Well, Sophia here asked where the well is. I was going to go and send Raquel some towels for her."
"Thank you, you're so kind." Euphemia tells Matt.
And Matt… I don't know, I have a feeling he's dense as a brick because he just nods and leaves.
"You left." Euphemia says.
I turn around and start walking towards the well. "I was full. I was ready to go to bed but Matt said they finished the jar. Then I thought I could take a bath, considering most people are out there right now."
"You never told me?"
"You were having fun." I glance at her. She's two steps away from me. "Why were you mad at me?"
"I wasn't mad."
"You were ignoring me all throughout dinner, and before that you said some stuff while we were inside the room, and now you're here, being passive aggressive towards me."
"You really don't know?"
"Know what?"
She stops walking which forces me to stop walking, too. "Do you trust me?"
"I do."
"Okay." Then she breathes in. "Is it because of Clyde, then?"
…what?
