Chapter 27: Chapter 26 – Invincibility?

Arriving at his house, Lukas felt his cell phone vibrate and saw a message from Karen.

[ 15:45 - Could you come to the guild? I have to talk to you. ]

"Again?" Lukas threw his cell phone on the table and went to the kitchen. After drinking some water, he saw his sister coming down the stairs and greeted her. Anna looked at him for a while and then approached him.

After approaching, she slapped him on the head.

"Why didn't you read my message?"

"Your message?"

"Yes, I asked you to stop by the market for me."

"Sorry, I was running and didn't feel my cell phone vibrate."

"..." Anna sighed. "It's okay. How was the run?" Anna opened one of the cupboards and picked up a package of cookies. Lukas smiled and then told her about meeting Raquel in the park.

He also told her about asking Raquel out on a date.

"What? But didn't you have a girlfriend? So your girlfriend was that girl all along?" Anna almost spits the cookie out of her mouth.

"I said I didn't have a girlfriend, didn't I?"

"Yes, but I thought you were lying."

"I wasn't lying."

"... But isn't Raquel older than you? I didn't think you had that kind of preference." Anna gave a smile. Lukas then walked over to the sofa and sat down. Anna did the same and turned on the television.

"She's only three years older, I think. It's not a big difference."

"Yeah, but..."

"Are you by any chance jealous?"

"Of course not, you idiot." Anna kicked Lukas in the leg, causing him to laugh. "I'm just surprised. I never thought you would be interested in that girl. You should have told me; I could have texted her."

"Do you have her number?"

"Yes. I went to the market a few times, and she gave me her number. She invited me to go out with her and some friends, but I turned her down every time."

"Why?"

"You know very well that I don't like parties and crowds."

After that, the two were silent as they watched cartoons on TV. And after a few minutes, Lukas stood up and threw his wallet in Anna's lap.

"I'm going upstairs now. Order us a pizza; you can use my card to pay."

"Really? It's been so long since I've eaten pizza!" Anna excitedly got up and ran toward her room, almost knocking Lukas off the stairs. After grabbing her cell phone off the bed, she walked to Lukas' room. "What flavour do you want?"

"Mozzarella is fine."

"I'll order two then, one mozzarella and one pepperoni."

"Okay."

With a smile, Anna left the room and closed the door. After she left, Lukas took out his cell phone and texted Karen, telling her that he would go to the guild tomorrow morning.

He got a reply almost immediately.

"Looks like they found out something about that murder."

"You've finally arrived." Arriving at the guild, Lukas found Karen sitting near the door. She looked rather impatient.

"What happened?" Lukas asked worriedly. Karen then took his hand and pulled him toward the table. When Lukas reached the table, he found someone he hadn't expected sitting there.

Karen's father. The head of the association.

As soon as he approached, the man stood up and greeted him politely. "Pleasure, my name is Sheridan. Sheridan Nickolas."

"My name is Lukas. It's a pleasure." The two shook hands, and Sheridan smiled. The man then fixed his tie and sat down.

"Lukas, I would like to talk to you about the murder. Could you answer a few questions?"

"..." Lukas looked at Karen, and she nodded. "Okay." He then sat down at the table, and Sheridan took some papers out of the briefcase he had brought. He then placed them on the table and dragged them over to Lukas.

He took the papers and looked at them.

It had some data on a man Lukas didn't know, and just below it was a photo. When he saw the picture, Lukas felt his body tremble.

"It looks like it's him." Sheridan gave a smile.

"Yes, that's the man who killed that hunter. Who is he? Kolby Wayne?"

"Yes, Kolby Wayne, a RANK A hunter." Sheridan took a few more pictures and handed them to Lukas. Same hair, same colour eyes, tall, muscular body. It was the same person.

"From what's written here, this guy doesn't look like a good person." Just below his name had a lengthy criminal record. Robbery, murder, kidnapping, vandalism... He even had rape among his crimes.

"Weren't you going to ask some questions?"

"I was going to ask some questions like what the culprit looks like and if this guy was him. Since you have already confirmed that it is him, I have no more reason to ask the questions."

Sheridan then stood up and greeted Lukas before leaving the house together with Karen. After a few minutes, she returned.

"I said that nothing would happen even if they found out that you were the one who reported it." She smiled and sat down at the table together with Lukas. Then she opened her laptop and started typing some things. "Do you want something to eat?" She asked.

"I'm not hungry."

After that, the two were silent for a few minutes.

"I think I'll go now." Lukas stood up.

"Wait."

"Hm? What is it?"

"Did you talk to your parents about the signing?"

"No."

Lukas answered her and then walked out of the guild. Karen sighed and continued typing something on her laptop.

When he returned home, Lukas found his parents sitting at the table. Anna was not around, which was odd since she sat in front of the television most of her day.

"Ah, Lukas. Where were you?" His mother asked with a smile. "Come eat with us. I bought a cake." On the table was a small cake inside a decorated cardboard box.

"Wasn't that expensive?" Lukas reached over and took a piece. It was a cake from a famous confectioner's shop.

"Not very. So where were you?"

"I was with a friend. We were walking in the park."

"I see. Was that your girlfriend?"

"I already said I don't have a girlfriend." Lukas turned away and walked up the stairs. When he reached the top floor, he looked at his Status.

"It even has a skill called [ Invincibility ]. What's that? Am I going to become immortal or something? What's the price of that?..." Lukas took his finger to the screen and touched on the ability. A few red numbers appeared ( which showed that he didn't have enough souls )

The value? 3 million souls.
