*Jason's POV*

"Jason, my name is Nyx Jason."

"Nyx Jason, that's a cool name."

'Yeah, I know. My parents gave me a cool name, and my family name is also awesome. They are Greeks, afterall.'

"Aah, I haven't introduced myself. I am Dr. Wolf."

'Why is someone named Wolf?'

"Do you breed wolves or what?"

"No."

"Are you a werewolf?"

"No."

'Tch. Disappointment.'

"Tch. Then why is your name Wolf?"

"Don't question my parent's naming sense, kid."

*Grrrooowwwwll.*

'I am hungry.'

"Let's eat, kid."

"Thank you for the food."

*A few moments later.*

"That was delicious, Mr. Wolf."

"Wafafafa. You know I'm a genius, kid. I can do pretty much everything. And call me Dr. Wolf."

'I doubt it. This old man looks like a mad scientist.'

"Whatever you say."

"Now let's get to business. Jason, what are you planning to do now? Where will you go?"

'That's a good question. I have to be careful about my answers. Earlier, I hesitated a bit when he suddenly asked about how I ended up here. Did he get suspicious? I want his knowledge and skills. He said he was a doctor. Maybe I should recruit him to be my ship doctor.'

"I don't know Mr. Wolf. My parents left their home and travelled around the world. I was born on one of their journeys in a ship. Then they settled in on an island. But some weeks ago, they took me to continue their journey, and when we were travelling the reverse mountain, our ship crashed, and the next thing I know, I am on this island. I don't know where I am. And I don't know what to do."

'I started crying by the end. Did my acting work? Did he believe what I said? I think it's pretty convincing.'

"Sorry about that kid. You had it rough. Do you think your parents survived?"

"I don't know. I hope they also survived like me."

"Let's hope so kid. So what will you do now?"

"I think I will live here. If it's not troublesome for you, please help me make a hut or something I can live in."

"Yes, kid. I swear. You are strong, so you are eligible to help me. I can complete my projects soon if I have your help. In return, you have a place to sleep and I will cook."

"Deal, Mr. Wolf."

"Deal. And call me Dr. Wolf."

"Aah, now that I think about it, you said you make machines, right? So you are a scientist, not a real doctor."

'Hearing that he grinned and started doing some weird dance?'

"Yes, I am a scientist. Behold, the mighty Dr.Wolf. I am the junior to Dr. Vegapunk."

'What? Dr. Vegapunk? The Genius Scientist?'

"I don't believe it. I heard Vegapunk was one of a kind. And you are saying that you are his junior?"

Wolf has dark lines on his face and is crouching in a corner, drawing something on the ground. 

'Poor guy, it's hard to reach up to your heroes.'

"So what's your speciality?" 

"Mechanics."

"I can make machines, weapons, and gadgets."

'Machines, you say. Let's see if you can handle tech from the Earth, old man. I know some of the technology and machines in One Piece World are really futuristic. They don't know everything. You are my slave, old man.'

'Xehahaha..'

 

'Why am I laughing like that in my mind too?'

"Ooh, that's great, Mr. Wolf. How will you power your machines? What kind of power source are you working with?"

"Steam."

Jason deadpanned.

'Really? He was talking about devoting 30 years of his life to earning a doctorate in mechanics, and that was only with steam power. I got the worst. But better than none.' 

"Sigh."

 

"What's wrong, kid? What's with that look and sighing? "

"Steam power is outdated, Mr. Wolf. I heard that Vegapunk is working on cyborgs and robots. They don't work with steam. They have some compact power sources. And I am not talking about cola."

"What? I picked steam powered mechanics because that was the trend that day. And cola?"

"Are you talking about 100 years ago or something? And I don't want to talk about Cola."

"It's not 100 years ago, it was 80 years ago."

"Wow. How old are you, old man?"

"In a few months, I will be 96." 

'Ooh, One Piece characters have crazy physiques. He looks like he is only 69 years old.'

"Wait, So how old is Vegapunk?"

"Vegapunk is at least 30 years older than me. When I started my studies, he was infamous. He took some kids under him as apprentices and was causing chaos. That's how he became my hero. Then, when I became 10 years old, I enrolled in his Alma Matter, but later that year he was captured by the marines. Then the next thing I heard was that he was working for the marines."

"That's an interesting story."

"What about those kids? His apprentices? Who are they? What happened to them?"

"I think you know some of them. And one of them is in this sea."

"What? Who are they? I forgot to ask. Which sea is this?"

"Wafafafafafa. Get ready to be shocked, kid. And now for some dramatics."

Jason's jaw hit the ground. 

'What the hell.'

"I heard about them. Those guys were apprentices of Vegapunk. No wonder."

'Those crazy guys were raised by Vegapunk. That's really out of this world.'

"Told you so, kid. Even if I am not an apprentice of Dr. Vegapunk, he is my hero. So one day I will also achieve something like them and surpass them."

"No, I live here alone and the year is 1508, 3 more months till New Year. And call me Dr. Wolf... You actually called me Dr. Wolf and talked politely." 

'Perfect, Law arrives at Swallow Island in 1511. So I have 3 years to plan everything and more than enough time before the cannon starts. I need to be strong before I set sail. I have to learn Haki and Rokushiki before arriving in Paradise. The earlier the better. But I should start my journey early. may be the same time Ace starts his journey.' 

"Thank you, Mr. Wolf, and it's nothing. I have some interesting ideas for your mechanics. With my ideas, you can upgrade your machines and you can achieve your dream early. So what do you say?"
