"You're saying that a Lord from a small town has been capturing monsters?" Runt asked the leader of the dwarves who went by the name of Knosh.
"That's right, most of my brethren had been captured by him. He then sells them to high-ranking nobles, after that we're not sure what happens." Knosh explains.
"But it's my first time meeting a snake clan such as you guys. Why are you traveling with an elf?" The question came from another dwarf named Hogwin.
"Ah, our leader does not discriminate against race. The more the merrier, as long as they have loyalty to her and talent," Big answered.
"Are you saying that your leader will even take in a human?" Knosh asked.
"Maybe, I guess it depends on the human." Runt answered.
"This village, is it close?" Big suddenly changed the subject.
"I say it's about four hundred kilometers East from our current location," Hogwin answers thoughtfully.
"What do you think? Should we have Sir Leo make a pit stop?" Big asked Runt.
Runt frowns, "I don't know if that's a good idea. The Leader wants us to return safely." Runt mutters.
"I know that much. It's just that it's a likely chance that we can meet the other roles we need there." He points out.
Oh, right! He has a point. Right now, they only had six dwarves with high-ranking Architect skills and two dwarves with high-ranking blacksmith skills. The rest were miners.
Out of the other monsters, the Arachne were mostly former troops of a spider clan that was recently wiped out.
They are useful since they were skilled in Archery. The rest of the monsters will be given roles once they return home.
"I guess we have no other choice. On our next break, we'll let Sir Leo know the plan." Runt says.
Meanwhile in the small village...
An auction was taking place in a small village called Devroi. The Lord of Devroi, Lord Vegg Hosh, watched with greedy eyes as the monsters he captured were being auctioned off.
When a tree elf was brought to the stands, the bets were high, a beauty like that was about to fetch him more than two hundred Gold!
"Six Hundred Gold, going once, going twice...sold!" The auctioneer calls out.
This small-town Lord was going to be rich!
"My Lord, it won't be long before we bring out our special piece." His guard tells him.
"Make sure the auctioneer holds back, that monster should be revealed after we sell the others." Lord Vegg orders.
The Guard nods before leaving to do what was ordered.
Hiding nearby...
"What do we do now that we're here?" Big asked.
They can see the auction happening from where they hid. They left the wagon outside the village and could sneak in due to the auction taking place.
"We should cause a distraction, once we gain the attention elsewhere,e we can make our move." Runt whispers.
"Who will go up?" Big asked.
"I will," Leo volunteered.
Runt and Big nod in agreement.
They only had one chance to cause a distraction and hopefully, it goes well.
They just need something that could help the situation.
"Hey, I'll sneak in where they are keeping the other monsters, I might find something there," Big says.
"Alright, be careful." Runt tells him.
Big nods before sneaking off.
Big
It was easier than he anticipated, there were hardly any humans keeping watch. He took out a few guards on the way backstage where the monsters were being kept.
The first thing he noticed was the large orc being chained to the ground.
It looks like they gave it a drug to keep it calm. Judging from its size and tusks he'd have to say it was the first time he'd seen a monster like this.
Before his eyes were an Orc, he remembers Sir Leo teaching them about many monsters and this one fit the image of an Orc Chief.
He glanced around and slithered up to the Orc lying calmly on the ground. He just got a really good idea for a distraction.
"Hey." He whispers.
The Orc barely moved but it was now looking at him.
"Go away, Gong unhappy." It says.
Oh, it talks!

"So your name is Gong, huh? What if I tell you I can help you?" He asked the Orc.
"No use, humans scary, Gong weak." The Orc says.
"I can help you, but you can't get mad." Big tells the Orc.
The Orc doesn't say anything else, well it was probably its permission.
Meanwhile...
Runt and Leo stood by waiting for a signal. "Do you think he made it?" Runt asked.
"If it's Big, I think he's fine," Leo answers.
It was when the loud cry of a beast got their attention.
The humans reacted strongly and something big appeared from behind the stage.
"Woah, what is that monster?" Runt asked.
It was going crazy and a fat pudgy man suddenly yells out, "someone put that monster out!"
"Come on, this is our chance to save that merchant!" Leo calls to Runt.
On the stage about to be sold, there was a white Rat looking monster. Just before the commotion happened it was introduced as a high-ranking merchant.
"We have to save that monster!" Leo declares.
While the humans were distracted by the large monster the two hurried up to the stage.
"Hurry, before they see us!" Leo calls to Runt who was behind him.
Big appeared on stage and was already taking the chains off the merchant.
"Who are you guys?" The Rat asked.
"We're here to save you from the humans. If you come with us we can provide you with a place to stay." Runt answers.
"Hey!" The Lord noticed them on stage.
Big looked back, "Crap, we were spotted. It's your turn big guy!" Big calls out to the large monster.
"Never thought I'd be happy to see an Orc here," Leo states once the Orc caused even more commotion.
It was throwing items at the pudgy human to help them escape.
Big picked up the Rat with his jaw and the three of them escaped.
"Stop those damn monsters?" Lord Vegg screams.
The Orc roars and throws part of the stage before running to follow the other monsters.
"Don't let them escape!" One could hear the pudgy human yelling as they fled.
Outside the village, they made it to the wagon, "hey wait for the Orc!" Big yells.
The Orc was not far behind. "Will it fit in our wagon?" Runt asked frowning.
"Gong runs, go!" The Orc says.
"Alright, you heard him! Let's move!" Leo says snapping the reigns.
The horses reared before galloping in the other direction, the Orc was close behind them and the humans were even further away.
They finally lost sight of the humans as they rode over a hill and into the distance.
