Chapter 1: Prologue – Catgirl dies

I'm just a 27 years old man who loves anime cat girls with a passion. Cat girls are amazing. To me, they are the best of both worlds, girls and cats. Who could have thought, cute girls and cute cats, when merged together can create such masterpieces? And even though both cats and girls can be quite the assholes sometimes, no one really cares because the world worships them. 

Thus, people may say that I’m crazy, but I really want to be an anime cat girl. I even mastered the way cat girls speak. Truly, God bless Japan for creating cute anime cat girls!

And just right after I had that thought while walking home from work, I spotted one.

“Woah! How can this be?"

I'm enchanted, stunned, mesmerized. My vision narrows at the sight of a particular person among the sea of people at the intersection. Cat girl? Is she a cat girl? My heart is throbbing. My mind is going crazy. 

On top of her head, there are cat ears! Cat girl skibidi yes yes yes yes yes!

There is a 99% chance that she is just a cosplayer though, but even if that is the case, I still want to see her. And I want to know if she has a nice cat tail too, so I decide to cross the street. 

But why is she crossing the road when the green light is on?

Tuuut Tuutt! 

Loud honking sound startles me. I look to my right. Oh no, a truck is approaching the cat girl at high speed! The girl is wearing headphones so she doesn’t know that the truck is coming! 

So, without a second thought, I move.

I didn’t even feel any pain, because my consciousness poofed right away after I got hit. There was no time for the brain to process the sensation of pain.

But I was still able to realize something…

I cursed myself.

They were not cat ears. They were just cat ears-shaped hair.
