Description: Mars, like most other habitable planets, is a rocky-type planet with an iron core. Mars is made up of nearly double the amount of iron that Earth has. Mars had frozen water on both its caps and in the ground. While Mars does not have nearly as much water as Earth, it still contains enough to create oceans on its surface. Only around 18% of Mars' total surface is water. Studies have shown that Mars used to have simple life in its oceans and even on land near coasts, similar to Earth during the Paleozoic era.
History: Mars was first discovered in 1610 by Galileo Galilei using a primitive telescope. Mars was named by the Ancient Romans after their God of War, Mars. It was the subject of rigorous research, and even rover missions. People were obsessed with Mars, creating movies based on so-called Martians. The first manned mission to Mars took place in 2025 and was the first step in humanity become interstellar. Mars was first colonized in 2031, when NASA along with a private contractor worked together to create Galileo Outpost which would later be known as Galileo City. Several other cities would be built in the next coming years, including Mars' version of Hollywood, Artemis. Martian cities tend to follow in Mars' footsteps, being named after Ancient gods.
In the year 2046, terraforming efforts were started, being completed in 2093. During this time, Mars experienced its first war in 2053 when two cities, Loki and Caishen, became embroiled in a conflict known as the War of Two Gods. Several other wars would take place soon after, delaying efforts to terraform. This would come to be known as the Era of Martian Conflict, where several old-Earth countries waged proxy wars on Martian soil. Post-terraforming, Mars would see its last conflict between two cities, the War of Atom, where the AWTO dropped a hydrogen bomb in the year 2095 on the city of Bastet, which had been overrun by a Martian terror organization. Following this, cities became less inclined to act out, as the AWTO had threatened an interplanetary war if Martian cities didn't stop acting up.
This didn't last long as Earth went through a crisis in the year 2105 when a virus named the Martian Plague spread across Earth and Mars, wiping out nearly 40% of all of humanity. This virus didn't affect planets like Venus, or Saturn's moon, Titan, which had become an oil and gas outpost. No planets outside of the Sol system were affected either. Following this virus, the Earth-led governments had all nearly collapsed and lost control of their owned planets. At this time, five major governments formed. These governments will be mentioned when their respective planets are discussed. The one that spawned from Mars was known as the United Martian Front, a democratic socialist nation.
This too came to an end when the Venus-lead government of the United Systems of Earth invaded it in 2135.
Mars was then invaded once more in 2274 during the War of Unification. Mars is now the property of the Solarian Imperium, an oligarchy that has united all of humanity for the first time in history.
NOTES:
1. Martian Life: Life on Mars has been confirmed as of 2027 by scientist Janet Brown. The species found were all simple, similar to the early animals of Earth. They were alive around 1.5 million years ago. But, no explanation was found for their extinction (READ ANOMALY REPORT)
2. Paleozoic Era: The early stages of life on Earth.

3. Galileo Galilei: An ancient astronomer who lived from 1564-1642. The discoverer of Mars as well as several other planets in the Sol system.
4. Ancient Romans: An ancient Earth civilization.
5. Mars: Ancient Roman God of War.
6. Rover Missions: Several early missions to Mars sent rovers to its surface. These rovers were majorly important to early Martian exploration.
7. Martians: Martians were fictional highly advanced aliens from the planet Mars. They appeared in several old-Earth movies. Modern Martians are humans born on Mars or citizens of Mars.
8. 2025 Manned Mission: the first manned mission to Mars. It included an engineer, a team of scientists, a biologist, and several seeds and sprouts of plants. This mission determined that Martian soil could support plant life with fertilizer added into it. Biologist Mark Damon is considered the father of Martian agriculture.
9. 2031 Colonization: the first inter-planetary colonization mission. An Eagle Heavy rocket was sent to Mars to create a permanent colony on the surface of Mars. It carried 25 people of various critical backgrounds, as well as 10 years of food, and 3 years of water. This colony would be known as Galileo Outpost, named after Mars' discoverer. This colony created a bio-dome for around 300 people to live in. A second biodome was created soon after, containing all agriculture needed for the 300 people.
10. Galileo City: The largest city on Mars, containing around 103 million people. It is also the capitol of the Red Planet.
11. Artemis: The entertainment capitol of Mars. Most major movies come from this city. It also has the Martian Star Walk.
12. Terraforming: Martian terraforming efforts have been plagued with set-backs, both from Martians and Earthlings. Mars was the first planet to be successfully terraformed. Mars was successfully terraformed in the year 2093.
13. Loki and Caishen: Loki and Caishen are two cities founded by Nordic and Chinese settlers respectively. The two cities have been in conflict since their founding, as they were created within 50 kilometers of each other. With the backing of the AWTO, Loki eventually beat Caishen, taking full control of the city.
14. War of Two Gods: The first ever war on Martian soil. It included Loki and Caishen, with Loki being backed by the AWT and Caishen being backed by China. It was started over Caishenian soldiers accidentally killing Lokian civilians during a training exercise. It was later found that the AWTO had sparked this conflict by planting a spy among the Caishenian soldiers. It ended with Loki gaining control over the entirety of Caishen as well as the execution of several high-ranking Caishenian officials.
15. Era of Martian Conflict: An era spanning from 2053-2095 where Martian cities fought with one another over control of more land, or simple governmental differences. Over one hundred conflicts would take place during this time period.
16. War of Atom: The final war during the Era of Martian Conflict. It started when the city of Bastet had been overrun by a group of Martian eco-terrorists named Mars' Protectors who wanted Mars to be returned to its state pre-terraforming. The terrorist organization had planted many bio and chemical weapons within cities on Mars and had caused several hundred thousand deaths. The war ended when the AWTO dropped a Hydrogen bomb on the city of Bastet, demolishing the entire city and killing every leader of the organization.
17. The AWTO: An acronym for the American Warfare Treaty Organization. The AWTO was a group of nations all committed to joint protection and the enforcement of peace. It was established in 1947, and only included the United States, Mexico, and Honduras at the beginning. However, it grew to cover all of North and South America and most of Western Europe by the year 1949. By the year 1987, the AWTO grew to encompass most of Europe and Africa, parts of Asia, and all of the Americas.
18. Bastet: A city named after the Egyptian goddess. Bastet was a city embroiled in crime. It was eventually overrun by the eco-terrorist organization, Mars' Protectors. This city was destroyed by a Hydrogen bomb during the War of Atom.
19. United Martian Front: A weak coalition of Martian cities following the Martian plague. This country was eventually put back under the rule of Earth following the invasion of the United Systems of Earth.
20. United Systems of Earth: A strong coalition of systems following the Martian plague. Originally, this nation was founded on Venus by staunch supporters of Earth. These founders eventually moved the capitol to Earth after defeating the weakened armies of enemy forces. They eventually grew to cover nearly three quarters of the Milky Way and parts of Andromeda, but were cut short by the Solarian Imperium.
21. War of Unification: The war started by the Solarian Imperium to unify all of humanity. This war was a long and bloody conflict mainly between the Solarian Imperium and the United Systems of Earth. It ended officially with the capture of Earth in 2274.
ANOMALIES:
1. The Martian Plague Machine: A machine was found on Mars in the year 2105. This machine is similar in its creation to a Solarian Surface Sterilizer, which is used on planets to sterilize them of dangerous flora and fauna. However, this machine has an unknown language on it and is created from an unknown alloy that has kept it intact in the suspected 1.5 million year timeframe it has been here. It was discovered to be the cause of the Martian Plague three months after its discovery, and a vaccine was created and given to all Martians and Earthlings. The vaccine was eventually taken by humans everywhere. The Martian Plague Machine is the first ever hint at the existence of sapient alien life.
