Chapter 2: Chapter 2 – Finding out about the world

My life in this new world has been very satisfying, it has been one year since I was reincarnated here, in the one year that I have been here I have started to notice several things in this new world, I still cannot walk and it has made it impossible for me to leave the house.

 

First of all, this world seems to be in a medieval era, I assumed this by the way my house is built, the walls are made of stone but there is no painting or anything like that.

 

It's all done in a very crude way if I may say so, even my house is quite simple, I could tell very quickly that we were not rich, my father seems to be a woodcutter while my mother is a housewife.

 

I would say that we don't starve, we get enough to eat and our house is quite cozy for me, besides, money couldn't give me a healthy body if I was born with an incurable disease, so the fact that I was born healthy for me is already a fortune.

 

Furthermore, our house has a small library, probably not even 15 books in there, so I said small, but still it was enough for me to understand this world.

 

My mother almost always caught me while I was dragging myself to go to the library but I am sure she thinks I am just curious about it, I mean, who in their right mind would believe that a 1-year old baby could read books.

 

But anyway, what I have found out so far about this world is, the year we are in is 989 of the solis calendar, even solis seems to be the name of the planet we are on, but from what I understood from these books I was reading it seems that the people here don't know that there is the universe outside the planet and stuff like that.

 

In fact, they don't even know what exists on the other side of the sea, in a simpler way to explain my family and I live in a continent which should be pretty obvious to anyone, within this continent there are a total of 5 kingdoms.

 

The kingdom we are currently in is called Solaris, this is a name apparently given to the kingdom thanks to the lineage of queens and princesses that have the greatest beauty of all the kingdoms.

 

By the way I overheard a conversation between my parents and some neighbors that the youngest princess of our kingdom was born on the same day and at the same time as me, she is the youngest sister of a family of 4 people, having two brothers and two sisters, this is really a frightening coincidence, but well, this is none of my business, our social statuses are too different for me to have any contact with her.

 

Back to the subject, our kingdom is surrounded by snow-capped mountains, thanks to this the winters here are a bit harsh but to tell you the truth it's not that cold, I would say it's the same level of cold you would feel in a cold country in my old world, but it seems that for people from the outside this is quite a cold place.

 

Geographically speaking our kingdom seems to be the easiest to defend strategically speaking, but still I would like to ask myself why we are considered the weakest kingdom in the continent.

 

After our kingdom we have the kingdom of Belfri, Arcolia, Crystal, and Storne, unfortunately in the books we had at home there wasn't much information about the other kingdoms, but apparently the kingdom that is closest to us is the kingdom of Storne, it is the third strongest kingdom in the continent, moreover, apparently our kingdom and the kingdom of Storne don't get along very well, I just hope that a war doesn't start out of nowhere because of power.

 

Another thing I discovered while reading the books is that in this world magic doesn't exist, this made me a little sad in the beginning but being honest I got used to it so today I don't even care about it anymore.

 

Apart from that there are no monsters here either, there are one or another animal that didn't exist on earth like a giant lizard that is used as a mount or the cows that here have a lot of hair and have huge horns coming out of their heads.

 

While reading the books in front of me I was suddenly grabbed and suspended into the air, as soon as I looked back to see who was holding me, I saw my mother's face with a smile on her face.

 

"What were you doing dear?"

Although my mom is saying this I am totally sure that she doesn't think I am really reading these books, but mom, today is the day that I am really going to take you by surprise, actually I have been able to do this for a while now, but I wanted to surprise my mom and dad so I trained myself as much as I could to do this perfectly.

 

Gathering the air in my lungs I utter my first sentence since I was reincarnated into this world.

 

"Mama"

 

After my mother heard this it seemed that she had locked up, I was a little worried as she just kept looking at me with her mouth open, but soon my worry was ceased with a scream that my mother gave.

 

"BRED, THE REN, THE REN HE"

 

But no matter how hard my mother tried she couldn't utter any words, and then, seconds after my mother's screams, heavy footsteps could be heard coming towards where we were standing.

 

"WHAT'S WRONG LAYLA, IS OUR REN OK? WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM?”

 

Shouted my father back to my mother, from the way he was saying it he clearly thought I was hurt or sick.

 

"Ren, he, he, he, he, he said mommy for the first time”

 

Said my mother with a huge smile on her face as she jumped up and down causing me to start spinning, to be honest this is making me nauseous.

 

"Ohhhhhhhhhhhh, is that true honey? come on Ren, say it daddy, come on Ren, I know you can do it”

 

Said my father while jumping up and down with my mother, this scene was past the point of embarrassment.

 

"Daddy, Mommy"

 

Again, the room went silent, I wonder if they will do this every time, I say something, but seconds later they both started jumping again while shouting with joy.

 

"Our Ren is the cutest kid in the world.
