Chapter 3: Just a Normal Day with a System

"Hey, did you hear the news?"

"Yeah, they are saying that it is a wormhole."

"I think that is bulls*it!"

"Everything is bulls*it for you! I believe that this is God's work, he is giving us a message."

"Here comes another believer."

People were in chaos. Some took it lightly. Some started a cult. Some scientists went Megalo mania and started stripping with joy.

NASA launched a satellite with haste to observe this strange phenomenon. The Satellite was burned by the extreme heat emitting from the anomaly. This gave researchers a load of material to work with and it wasn't just human researchers, the supernatural world too was going crazy.

Ajuka Beezelbub from the Devil's side was the first to react to this as he started investigating the phenomenon and even came to several conclusions.

Azazel the Governor General of the Fallen Angels also came to dozens of conclusions, some of which matched with Ajuka's.

While all this was going on our protagonist, Ace, just sighed, "What the hell future me. If you wanted to make a delivery just use the mailbox."

Yes, this was the doing of the Future Ace who had just sent him a delivery.

"Excalibur." One of the delivered items was Excalibur: The Sword of Promised Victory. The sword wielded by King Arthur or Artoria as we know her, in the Arthurian Legends.

"Rhongomyniad." The other was Rhongomyniad: The Lance that Shines to the End of the World. A tower of light that anchors the layers of the World. The authority of the tower is granted in the form of a lance given to Artoria Pendragon(Lancer). Now, he was holding it.

"Hm... Both of these have seals on them." he muttered as he picked up a letter that came along with the two weapons.

"Dear, me. I advise you to store away those two before anyone sees it." Ace followed his future self's advice as the shadows below his feet moved and he put the two weapons in his shadow. He was in a park, so if anybody saw him with the weapons, things might get dirty.

"Now, with that's done, here is some advice for you. Use Clairvoyance as much as possible. Don't hesitate to ask Little One for guidance. When the mission is issued pick option C and if you're in any trouble then solve it with style, and visit the gym regularly. Good luck from me."

Ace finished reading the letter, it looks like his future self is trying to lessen his burden by giving him the two weapons.

He took in a deep breath as he caught a whiff of the amount of negative, unwanted emotion, and Mystery in the air. This was a World where Scared Gears existed and Scared Gears responded directly to the users' emotions resulting in more negative emotions being present.

"Almost forgot that this world is still in the Age of Gods, Mystery is still nice and thicc." He muttered as he watched the Ring of Lights vanish.

He picked up his school bag and walked to school. One shouldn't underestimate Asian schools, even if a World ending event is happening, they still remain open.

Kuoh Academy, one of the main settings of High School DxD, and the school where most of the main characters go to.

The boys' uniforms consisted of a black blazer with white accents over a white, long-sleeved, button-down shirt with vertical linings, a black ribbon on the collar, matching black pants, and brown dress shoes.

The girls' uniform consisted of a white long-sleeved, button-down shirt with vertical linings, a black ribbon on the collar, a black shoulder cape and matching button-down corset, and a magenta skirt with white accents.

Looking at the students walking through the front gate, Ace pulled out a Slime from his shadow and put it in his pocket.

This Slime was a creature that was excellent at hiding its presence and Ace was using it to conceal his Magical Energy, to look like an ordinary human.

At the front gate, Sona Sitri or now known as Sona Shitori in the human world along with her Queen Tsubaki Shinra was checking everyone for anything sus.

Sona looked at Ace for a moment before looking away, she thought that she had felt something from him, but shook it off as being her imagination.

Just sitting in class like a statue Ace was bored, so he decided to check some things out.

'From today on, I am calling you Alexa.'

'So, Alexa brief me about the system.'

[The Counter Guardian system, is a system built for the Counter Guardians to guide them to different worlds, issue missions, reward them according, and most of all help the Counter Guardian grow. For now, this system has six main functions.]

[Status] [A function by which you can measure your strength, skills, and resources.]

[Store] [A multiversal E-bay with all types of things and skills and instant delivery services.]

[Gacha] [Hell is the only word to describe this function. Gacha coupons brought from the store or acquired through mission rewards can be redeemed here for random items and skills. This function is addicting and Counter Guardian is advised to stay away from it.]

[Instant Dungeon] [The function that allows a Counter Guardian to create a Dungeon where he/she can grind for Exp, Coins, Items, etc. The Counter Guardian can choose the theme and difficulty while the system determines the rewards and creates the desired Dungeon.]

[Training Grounds] [A virtual world where you may send your consciousness to train with virtual enemies and gain fighting experience.]

[Mission Board] [You may select a mission here or create your own mission. The rewards of which will be determined by the system through the difficulty of the mission created.]

[The main currency of the system is Coins which can be used in the Store and Gacha.]

[That is all. There is also a suggestion box where you can suggest to the World Wills about changes to the system.]

'Hm...' Ace put on a thoughtful expression. 'Status'

'Hoh~ I am tempted to pick Genshin Impact so that I could kidnap Ganyu but my future self told me to not go there. Is it because I am not ready.' Ace trusted himself and picked Option C.

[Danmachi has been selected. Counter Guardian is requested to be ready in 3 days.]

Alexa's genderless voice rang in his ears as Ace went into Gamer mode and started to search for bugs and loopholes in the system that he could exploit. As his motto goes,

"If there is a system there are bound to be bugs and loopholes and if there are bugs and loopholes then it is a Gamer's duty to exploit them."

A great motto if I say so myself and in just 30 minutes he had found the perfect loophole.

There is a legend. The Goddess of Prosperity is the symbol of unlimited wealth and food and the earth is her womb. When the universe was created, she gave birth to 160 million gods. Hastar, her first and most beloved offspring, was greedy for all her gold and food.

Hastar managed to acquire the gold from the goddess but the other gods attacked him just as he was about to acquire her food, but the goddess saved him on the condition that he could never be worshipped and would be forgotten by history. For years, Hastar had been slumbering inside his mother's womb in eternal hunger as even touching Grains could destroy him.

Hastar went to slumber with all the Wealth and this dungeon's setting was that the wealth that Hastar carried was the system Coins.

The difficulty was also high since just one touch of Hastar could kill anybody. But Ace had a way around it. The way being his Stand.

Made in Abyss. A Stand that allows Ace to enter the Abyss, the home of monsters, and dominate them by either show of strength, the willingness of the monster to come under his domination, or killing the monster.

Once dominated, Ace can produce any amount of loyal monsters from his shadow and use them for different purposes, as long as he has the energy for it.

He was going to use Monsters to combat Hastar's fragments and harvest the Coins from him. He was going to use plant-type monsters that reproduce through spores. So that if one dies the others won't be affected.

"Now it is just a waiting game." He stretched his arms as the boring class was finally over and lunch had begun.

He got up and made his way to his 'secret' lunch spot. The Storeroom where all the gym equipment was kept.

"Onii-sama!" A beautiful girl with fair skin, a defined and curvaceous figure, black hair, and blue eyes called out to Ace.

"Oh! Kaede." Ace answered his little sister. Ace looked around as if searching for someone.

"Isn't Sora with you?" He asked.

"Sora nii-sama has joined the Student Council and is helping out with their Student Council work." Kaede answered him.

"So he has officially become a slave. Good to hear that." Ace laughed it off as Kaede pouted.

The rest of the day was uneventful, he didn't meet any of the important characters except Issei. That guy is too famous not to meet. Getting chased around by girls for peeking. Ace also got a kick in and it was satisfying, to say the least.
