Chapter 11 (The troubles I face)

There are two sides. The side of good and the side of evil, but mind you, the line between these two are not always clear. All that is seen might not be true.

_

Few days after the incident, my mind has not been at rest. My broken arm and other injuries healed that same night. But I killed someone. I shed someone’s blood. Even if it was for the safety of someone dear to me, I still did it.

There it was. Quincey’s lifeless body. His blood splattered on the floor and my sword, Heloz Gade stained with it. I saw my two palms soiled in blood and looked at Sinclair.

I only wished this was a dream.

The horror in her eyes. She just witnessed the murder of someone, but did not show much of her frightened expression. Instead she came to me.

It was like she knew what was going through my mind that night. She held my head closer to her chest, where her mighty breasts reside.

“It’s alright, you’re not a murderer. In fact, you’re a hero.” She assured me.

I could not cry. I didn’t think this was a situation where my tears were needed.

“Go home.” I told Sinclair.

“Don’t worry, no one will go after you again. Get some sleep, I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“…” Sinclair nods. She stood up and left in the opposite direction. The sword beside me, Heloz Gade, vanished into thin air. I hoped that it never showed its face to me again.

I got home. Both Lei and Phono had already gone to bed. A bunch of guardians they were indeed. I remembered my sword going deep into Quincey’s back, and deeper, causing a lot of blood to be spilled. I didn’t do it once. I stabbed him three times.

I felt vomit coming up my mouth and I ran to the toilet. It was nauseating. I stood up and washed my palm. When I turned off the tap, I looked at my hand once more. The blood hadn’t gone.

I washed it again and this time tears came out of my eyes at their own will.

“It’s not washing off. Please wash off.”

Till date, I still remember my first and only kill.

“Well, looks like Quincey’s assassin group has set a manhunt for you, Kegan.” Lei said.

“So what’ll happen now?” I asked in fear.

“Well you’ll have to defend yourself and kill them, all of them.” She continued.

“But isn’t there something you can do?”

“No, there isn’t.” Phono said.

“We are only concerned with the Rashivans. Anything other than that is none of our business. We can help you if you want, but we are not entitled to.”

“Don’t be scared though, I’m sure you’ll do something.” Lei joked.

Out of anger, frustration and fear I spoke out furiously.

“Fuck all of it. I’m going to school.”

I finally got up from my bed, a week after the incident, and rushed to school. I ignored the bus and went on foot.

“Hey Kegan.” Lei called out.

Lei was now an official classmate of mine. She enjoyed the schools here on earth seeing as they lack “intellect “, so she could always make fun of us.

“When did you get here? I left home without you.” I asked her.

“I ran you simpleton.”

“You ran?”

Oh yeah, they told me something about light speed which I thought was impossible but ever since I met Lei, a whole variety of possibilities are opened for me.

“Good thing you decided to come to school today, the teachers have been asking weird questions about you.”

“Hm, like wh-“

“Hi.”

I turned and saw Marie and Sinclair walking towards me. I saw Sinclair and remembered the unfortunate incident. I almost vomited again but I held it in.

“Where have you been, Kegan?”

“How’s your arm?” Sinclair just ratted out.

I was glad to see that she was acting the same way she always does, but acting like she knows nothing and ratting things out like this.

“What happened to his arm?” Marie asked.

“He broke it.”

“Again?!”

“Don’t worry, it’s healed. And it didn’t break.” I said.

“See?”

I showed her my arm. She examines it thoroughly like a doctor examining his patient and gave me a thumbs up. I smiled at this gesture. The bell rang signaling the first period.

“Hey Lei.” I called for Lei. She looked back at me.

“Hm?”

“Can we have a discussion, right now?”

“Sure, I don’t have any thing for this period even.”

“Thank you.”

_

We talked at the roof of the school where no one was. It was a really secluded area and only I visite here when I want to think.

“So why did you call me here? And don’t worry, I’m not going to look into you this time.” She said.

“But how did you know I was gonna ask you to not read my mind?”

“Starting now.”

I chuckled. And I began to say the main reason I brought her to the roof.

“Hey Lei, is it possible to destroy my source?”

I could feel a shocking presence.

“Why?”

“I want to destroy mine.”

“Well you can’t.”

“Why?”

“To do that, you’ll have to end your life, and I can’t have you do that.”

I chuckled.

“Oh, you really care about me that much?”

“Believe me I don’t. It’s just that we can’t afford to lose a member of the Spuino Graila, and one that has Trish’s memories.”

“I’ll kill myself.”

It came out. The thought of ending my life just came out. I was expecting Lei to beg me but…

“Are you stupid?!“

She came from behind and twisted my arm. The amount of injuries inflicted on this arm are more than my finger can count.

She twisted it and bent it to the back and held it there. I groaned in and told her to back off but she didn’t listen.

“ You really think I’ll let you do that? Trish gave you those memories and you don’t think there’s a reason behind that? It’s because she trusts you. So don’t be stupid and do things like that!”

She bent it more.

“It’s even better if you transfer the source to a different person, instead of destroying it.”

Yes, this was another solution. But I couldn’t do it either. I didn’t want anyone to die or suffer in my place.

“Look, sure I never showed it but Trish was my role model and I looked up to her. So I will never tolerate you thinking of destroying her hard work.”

She finally let go of my arm and walked to the entrance. I was breathing heavily and holding my arm.

“When you’re done, come to class.”

And she left.
