Prologue 2: My Arrival

A sky blue light shone from afar as I was flying deep in the vaccum of space. I was happy. Not because I escaped death, but because I sensed life from the planet before me.

I had already visited three universes, searching for one suitable for my stay, but I found none with life on it.

Life became scarce as the war raged on and I was shocked to see a planet that had abundance in life. The people were alive, the animals were alive, even the vegetation was alive. Saying that this planet itself was alive, can never be referred to as an understatement.

I scanned the planet with Navègate and found out that the name of this planet was “earth”. So I landed.

I landed in a deserted wasteland where nothing except sand and sky existed. Then I began to wonder if truly life was here. I had my doubts and set my course for space when I saw a man riding on an animal with a long neck and two humps on its back coming towards me.

“What are you doing far off in the desert?” The man asked.

Oh. So this wasteland was called a desert. Fascinating.

“My name is Trish and I’m a part of the Spunio Graila.”

We looked at each other for ten seconds before the man asked me what I meant by Spunio Graila.

I was beyond hurt. It looks like the people of this planet have not heard of things beyond this universe. I was disappointed but I became happy.

So I did not tell him about the war and everything. If I had told him, he would have gone into panic and the same guilt I passed through would start over again. I did not want the people of this world to put their trust in me, just for me to break that trust, so I told him that I was joking.

“ Sorry, but I don’t remember anything sir.” I clearly lied.

The old man looked at me throughly and nodded his head. He turned around with his animal and told me to get on top and so I did.

“Where are we going sir?”

“I’m taking you to my home, maybe there you can get some memories about your past life.” The man replied me.

Foolish man.

That was what rung through my head. We finally stopped before a wooden house and secured the animal, which I was told was called a camel.

“Come on in.”

The man assured me after I got lost in thought. I kept thinking about where the Rashivans would attack next. I cut all connections with the Spunio Graila so as to free myself from the responsibility and to also train myself and body harder.

I went inside with him and saw a young boy playing with a toy car. The boy looked at him, nodded and continues to play. It was clear that this was his grandfather.

“So you say that you don’t remember anything, eh?” I was asked.

“Erm, yes sir.”

He just backed off the questions and took me to a room. The room was well arranged and smelled nice. If I’m being honest, I expected a broken down room full of bugs and other creatures.

“This will be your room from now on. You will stay here until you’ve regained your full memory, is that a problem?”

He gave me a stern look. This man was a man of seriousness and discipline which I respected dearly.

“It’s no problem sir. But I do have a name.” I replied.

“Huh, I thought you didn’t remember anything.”

“It’s just a faint memory. My name’s Trish.”

“ Okay, I’m Chen. And this young rascal here is Kogen.”

He points to the young boy I saw earlier.

“His mom, my daughter, and his father died in an accident when they had gone on a vacation. So I want you to please take good care of him, please.”

I was in a difficult position here. I have never taken care of a child and I never planned on doing so. But I had to agree, so as not to blow my cover.

He glanced at my palm and saw navègat.

“You have a tattoo?”

I was caught off guard. I began to think of an excuse but Chen cut me off.

“I guess you don’t remember that too.” He began to laugh.

I laughed as well and then sighed shortly afterwards. I waved at Kegan who was hiding behind a chair. He waved back and then his completely.

“Okay, now that that’s done, I’ll leave Kegan with you. I have to go do some hunting.”

He gets up and grabs a shooting mechanism, one of poor design and goes outside. He rides away and I look at the young boy hiding.

I stand up and go closer to him and stretch forth my hand. Kegan, still scared, refused to hold my arm. I thought hard and then got an idea.

Energy can be found in all forms and sizes and exists everywhere, even on this uninformed planet. So I bent the invisible energy around me and made it visible and then created a little sphere.

Kegan was astonished and came out immediately. However, I could not hand Kegan this ball, because it would destroy anything it touches, so I dispersed it, causing it to vanish and then held Kegan tightly.

I expected the young one to cry but he just slept quietly in my arms. Not knowing what to do, I rested his head on my laps and stroke his hair. Maybe this was an appropriate way of calming down a child.

Time had passed and I stayed in the same position with Kegan, waiting for Chen to get back to his home. Kegan woke up and asked for his grandpa.

“Don’t worry, I’ll go find him.”

I laid him down and went out. As I grabbed the handle of the door, I felt a tight grasp on my clothing and turned to see that Kegan was holding me.

“I want to follow.” He said quietly.

I smiled and picked him up and went out with him.

Finding Chen was not hard, as I had picked up his scent and was able to sense his presence. What was hard was being able to behold the sight before me.

Blood shed everywhere. The night moon shining brightly exposing the spots of blood and Chen’s dead body split apart and some eaten.

Wild animals had killed Chen and eaten some parts of him. Even his camel was not spared.

I was so happy and lucky that Kegan had slept before we got to the scene of the murder.

Not knowing what to do, I headed back to the house with Kegan and packed his bags. I decided to move out of this wasteland with my speed, but not so fast, so that the young one would not wake up.

“Huh? Where are we going? Where’s grandpa?” Kegan asked while he was half awake.

I decided to cook up a story.

“He wants to play hide and seek with us, so we’re going somewhere really far. We’ll win this game for sure.”

He laughed silently and slept back.

I felt bad for lying to him, but there was no way I could tell him that his whole family has had their blood shed.
