Chapter 9: Chu Zihang

Lu Chen found the journey to be pleasant and exciting.

Throughout the flight, he never stopped gazing out the window. The girl beside him thought that he might be mentally ill. Even if he hadn’t boarded a plane before, he was really too excited. The flight was more than ten hours, and he didn’t even need a shut-eye. He’s such an energetic man.

What this girl wasn’t aware of was that Lu Chen had taken another flight before this because there was no direct flight between Hanoi and Chicago.

Norma had suggested that he should fly to China first before switching to another flight. Fortunately, Huang Tao had gone through all the processes with him. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be able to switch to another flight himself.

After getting off the plane, Lu Chen was still thrilled about his experience in the sky when he was disrupted by a familiar voice. “Lu Chen, this way.”

The blonde girl, whom Lu Chen had met before, spoke in standard Mandarin. She was Lutecia. She didn’t look like a secret agent on this day. Her delicate make-up added a layer of softness to her already beautiful face. The Wisteria-shaped earrings and Turnbull & Asser custom-made white shirt made her appear to be clean cut. Paired with her black skirt and Roger Vivier stilettos, she now looked like a royal businesswoman. Even though she dressed up like a secretary, her demeanor was that of a queen.

Certainly, the college staff were aware of Lu Chen’s situation. To put it bluntly, he was practically a country bumpkin who knew little about modern facilities. They were worried that Lu Chen might lose his way when he was heading to the college, so they had sent Lutecia to fetch him.

At that instant, Lu Chen could see that many people were staring at Lutecia and him with doubtful gazes.

Lu Chen was still clad in his training robe, and he looked like one of those martial artists typically seen in the vintage movies. Meanwhile, Lutecia’s outfit, paired with her temperament, led others to believe that she was an actress.

Therefore, the people in the airport concluded that they might be shooting a film now. The title could be something like ‘The Female President Falls in Love With a Martial Artist’. Nevertheless, they looked around and still couldn’t find any cameras.

Lu Chen and Lutecia ignored them. What really bothered him was the young man beside Lutecia who kept staring at him. Both men were about the same age.

“Oh, let me introduce him to you. He’s Chu Zihang, who joined the college about the same time as you did. That’s why I decided to fetch him as well.” Lutecia spoke as she gazed at the young man, then she shifted her attention to Lu Chen. “This is Lu Chen. His outfit might be funny, but he’s actually quite merciless when dealing with his opponents.”

Lu Chen felt helpless at that. His clothes in the martial arts center were all worn out, so he decided to keep wearing this training robe.

What does she mean my outfit is funny? It is not! It’s comfortable, so it won’t restrain me when I have to fight with my enemies. He thought that this outfit was one of the best he had ever put on.

“I’m Chu Zihang. We’ll be college mates now, so let’s take care of each other.” Chu Zihang extended his hand. Normally, one would be hospitable with a bright smile on one’s face in this kind of situation. However, there was practically no emotion on Chu Zihang’s face, so he appeared to be distant and aloof.

Lu Chen sized him up and realized that his black hair was neither too long nor too short. His eyes were inscrutable, and paired with his cold-looking face, he gave off an impassive vibe. Anyone who came across him before would never forget about him.

“I’m Lu Chen.” Lu Chen came to his senses and realized that Chu Zihang wanted to shake his hands. In his original world, shaking hands wasn’t commonplace.

“Why do you two look so cool? As young men, you should smile more. Other people might misunderstand that you’re going to fight.” Seeing that the atmosphere was awkward, Lutecia clapped their shoulders and turned around. “Let’s go. We’ll have our meals now.”

After a nod, Chu Zihang followed her. Lu Chen hesitated for a bit before tagging along. His original world was plagued by wars, so he still couldn’t believe that he had joined a college and was about to start a peaceful life.

In the past, if he ran into a Westerner like Lutecia on the battlefield, he would kill her without blinking his eyes. However, she had just clapped his shoulder and told him that she would treat him to a meal, so he still couldn’t believe that his world had changed completely.

30 minutes later, Lutecia and Chu Zihang were staring at Lu Chen as though he was a panda because of the way he was guzzling down the food. Lutecia didn’t manage to book a table at her favorite 3-star Michelin restaurant because she made the decision at the last minute. Not wanting to appear to be ungenerous in front of her juniors, she still wanted to look for other high-end restaurants, but Chu Zihang told her that they could just eat anything.

Just then, Lu Chen caught a whiff of the aroma wafting from Burger King, and he wouldn’t walk away, so they decided to enter the restaurant.

After finishing his 22nd Double Quarter Pound King burger, Lu Chen stared fixedly at Lutecia.

“Lu Chen, are you sure you’re not full yet?” Lutecia wasn’t worried about the money as the burgers were affordable. Instead, she was worried about Lu Chen’s health.

It was said that a warrior in ancient China could gobble up 18 buns in one go. Lutecia didn’t believe it in the past, as even a mixed race human couldn’t possibly eat so many buns.

Nevertheless, she believed it now upon seeing that Lu Chen still wanted more after his 22nd burger. She was genuinely worried that Lu Chen, whose blood lineage was possibly Grade A or above, would get so full that his stomach would explode.

By then, not only would she be held responsible, but the news would also be spread across the college. A Grade A or above student was brought to the restaurant by his senior, and he accidentally lost his life because of overeating. At the thought of news titles like this, she didn’t think she could bear it.

In fact, Chu Zihang had a big appetite as well, but since he wasn’t the one footing the bill, he knew he had to be polite. Therefore, after having two Spicy Whoppers, he stopped ordering more and watched Lu Chen have his burgers.

“Sorry, I was really hungry. I’m 80% full now.” Lu Chen felt embarrassed. Huang Tao was right to think that he was too lazy to get food for himself. For the past few days, he only cooked the last bit of rice left in the martial arts center and had some congee, so his health had deteriorated a little.

Certainly, there was a limit to how much he could stomach, but his digestive system was superior to that of an average person. Food could be broken down quickly and transformed into nutrition for his body to absorb. Furthermore, a Mystic Warrior needed a lot of energy to function.

“Why don’t I order two more for you, then?” Lutecia said hesitantly. Our college canteen is going to have a regular customer soon…

After a moment of hesitation, Lu Chen asked, “Can I get three?”
