Chapter 5: The Flesh-Eating Plants and The Colony of Titan

“I have to turn on this system!” Syaoran immediately focused his mind on bringing up his data table, so that he could quickly activate the Strongest Divine God System once again. Maybe if the situation was urgent like now, it could be configured easily. Although he had never discovered an incident like this in a similar case to the system owned by the children in the Longlong Forest.

"Syaoran!" Mai Lin sounded whimpering. But she didn't come any closer, perhaps because she was badly injured. “Syaoran, wait! I will help you right away!”

Before she could do that, the head of the monster that had emerged from the ground was fully visible. It looked like a normal human with a very long tongue that was used to ensnare prey. It had the body of a giant, more than ten meters.

Such monsters were often called mutants. However, if they were huge, they were known as titans.

ROAR! The titan roared with a tongue that had swung like a rattan root. Its eyes widened like a pervert looked happy when it saw Mai Lin as its meal.

Its tanned skin, with a body without clothes, had been able to survive the scratching of the sharp thorns of the mutant plant that lived squirming like a flesh-eating monster. Even in a single blow, the titan managed to uproot two Thorn Flesh-Eating Plants that were considered the most terrible pests in the Longlong Forest.

"Food!" Only that one word came out of the mouth of the hungry titan, who was always vicious and greedy. Its tangled hair instantly fell out while fighting another flesh-eating plant.

Splitting more giant trees, the titan managed to jump very quickly and finally landed right in front of Mai Lin. "Food!" Its lips were grinning horribly, with sharp teeth like saws along with dozens of giant trees that fell because of its behavior.

BOOM!

The ground shook from taking too much of the weight of the fallen giant trees. Mai Lin who had almost stood up now had to curl up because she lost her balance.

Just as she almost managed to stand up, suddenly the titan had pinched the back of her clothes and then lifted her in the air.

"Food!" said the titan again.

Mai Lin screamed for a moment. But it didn't take long for her to control the situation. “You stupid monster! Put me down! I won't let your greedy stomach and stinky mouth eat me. Maybe you don't know that I am Jang Mai Lin, the only daughter of the highly respected Jang Clan. We have quite high supernatural abilities.”

Her chatter was not considered by the titan, because all it said was, "Food!" and "Stupid!"

The titan threw Mai Lin's body in the air while its mouth was wide open, ready to receive the taste of the tender flesh of a beautiful young teenager.

Seeing that, Syaoran froze for a moment until the nerves in his brain seemed to explode. "MAI LIN!" Now he was trying to shake his body even harder to get out of the trap of the flesh-eating vine.

When he had tried his best to turn on the Strongest Divine God system just a moment ago, in the end, he couldn't configure anything. Even his data table didn't appear as if to tell him that the system had an error, or maybe it had been destroyed.

And when he was frustrated, without realizing it, his whole body had been wrapped in the tendrils of the flesh-eating thorns, bringing him slowly to the head of the host which was shaped like open tongs, ready to swallow him.

"Damn it! Go all of you!” Syaoran cursed in the middle of his guerrilla kicks. However, it didn't have any effect except that his body was in more pain from being crushed by the plant, the effect of a fight.

And that was when he realized that Mai Lin was in danger.

“MAI LIN! HURRY UP! USE YOUR POWER!” This was the first time Syaoran had spoken that day after his head was messed up from being beaten so badly by the bad boys. All the tiredness and pain in his body seemed to just lift.

And because of that, with the utmost strength, he struggled and deliberately banged his body against the plant.

BAM!

The vines of the plant shriveled up after getting hit, moreover, there was a kind of sharp rock that hit it. A sound emerged from the host's head, like a scream and a cry.

"It’s weakened!" cried Syaoran. Seeing this he squirmed until he was finally free from the flesh-eating plant, running as fast as possible to avoid the other coils while moving to save Mai Lin.

Just as his steps grew stronger, he found a stone at the tip of his foot. Seeing that Mai Lin was still in danger, he took it impulsively. And with a very fast maneuver, he threw it at the titan.

"If I hit its eye, then I can save Mai Lin." That was the only faith Syaoran had, as a weak teen who had no martial skills, supernatural abilities, or strong systems.

However, the stone could only hit the titan's lower thigh, making Syaoran's efforts in vain.

Fortunately, Mai Lin was a smart girl. She was also a strong girl, a descendant of the Jang Clan who had mastered the mythological knowledge passed down from generation to generation almost perfectly. So instead of giving up and asking for help, now she clenched her glowing fist, then threw and exploded something into the titan's mouth.

The titan's mouth exploded, followed by a roar that spread in all directions.

The beautiful Mai Lin plunged gently from the air, then hit the ground with a perfect landing. In an instant, she saw the titan's body collapse because of the intense pain.

"Mai Lin!" shouted Syaoran as he ran over to Mai Lin, in the rain of smoked meat all around him. It was finally picked up by the flesh-eating thorns to be eaten. "Are you all right?" Syaoran asked after successfully standing right beside Mai Lin. His legs took a few steps back when he saw some lumps of flesh wriggling as if it was alive.

"I'm fine," said Mai Lin, who once again raised her clenched, glowing hands. After waiting for a while, she returned to action after telling Syaoran, “Wait here a moment!”

Then she ran with speed like the wind, moving in a zigzag direction. The white light seemed to follow her trail, which passed through the titan's body parts in random patterns.

Soon Mai Lin shot up to fly through the air and plunged very gently with her back to the titan. In an instant…

BOOM!

The titan's body was completely destroyed after exploding due to Mai Lin's gentlest attack.

It rained a second time of bacon, and more tendrils of flesh-eating plants approached, like the tentacles of an octopus with eyes.

Mai Lin jumped back beautifully, then landed in front of Syaoran. Her beautiful face radiated with the scent of her heroic sweat. “Syaoran, are you okay? Are you hurt?”

Her expression and look in her eyes that had been so tough before now turned very gentle like that of an obedient girl, who never did anything other than weaving.

“I'm fine,” Syaoran nodded, secretly glancing at the titan. If it was his first time seeing Mai Lin's great ability, he would have been stunned for a very long time, like a fool for admiring a girl in the sky. "You killed it. Great."

"Killing one monster doesn't make me a hero, because there are still many monsters scattered in this Longlong Forest." Just then, Syaoran and Mai Lin saw more than a dozen titans who had come out of nowhere, clustered around the bodies of the exploding titans. There, they ate the smoked meat of a dead titan, then looked for fresh meat that they managed to sniff.

One of them, with legs like spiders, moved closer to Mai Lin and Syaoran. After its eight eyes widened, it shouted to give its strange colony an announcement, "Food!"
