Thirty-nine hours, that's how long it'd been since Archer Bell last slept. He was fine tuning the re-released demo for the grand unveiling of his full dive VR interface and the fantasy game world it would run on. When a user wears and activates a headset, it uses quantum data teleportation, which connects directly to a quantum computing server in Antarctica powered by an on-site fusion reactor.

Archer, by large margin, contributed to developing all of these immense breakthroughs in technology. He was hailed with many titles, such as "Greatest Assets To Mankind In All of History" by the United Nations. He was about to gain a few more too with the release of his magnum opus, "Infinity Skies," and the announcement of his official retirement tomorrow on his 30th birthday.

All the news outlets in the entire world were gathered for this great day, he never hid his research and development projects. The entire world got to follow the whole process, up until the last six months of his work was kept hidden, only the date and location of the unveiling were posted on his website.

The public adored the tale of a dedicated boy genius who went from game designer to world-shaking physics revolutionary, but he never revealed what his true motivations were. He was the treasure of the entire world, people had started watching Archer Bell's insane journey back when he was twelve; however, truthfully it had all started long before that.

When Archer was nine, his dad brought home something that would be the domino that set his current life falling into motion. His dad loved video games and especially VR, the thing he came home with that day was the Xedni VR headset, along with a copy of Elder Dragons: 6 VR. He let Archer dive in to try it, but he was soon utterly enthralled with the fantasy world, particularly magic.

Every second his dad didn't want to play and Archer wasn't at school or sleep, he was playing it. However, all great feelings highs follow with a crash, and with came the obsession and addiction to hunt for more. When he asked his dad how the game worked he explained to him that people hand crafted every inch of it, and that was also why it wasn't endless. He showed Archer a few procedurally generated games but they didn't meet his fancy.

He craved a world as real as when he opened his eyes and rolled out bed in the morning, fit with magic like it was as typical or the same as any other field of science. The very power to change the world with your finger tips or your thoughts alone, and as his dad always told him: "Don't just hope for something to happen, make it happen."

It would have been a naive dream if it was anyone else, but Archer set his mind at nine years old on doing the fantasy genre better than anyone at nine years old. When he came home everyday from school the first and only thing he did besides eat supper with his parents was learning and trying to build his own game.

His parents thought it was cute at first but they soon began to worry. They tried talking to him countless times trying to get him to do something else, because he literally refused to do anything else but this. They eventually took him to a psychiatrist on the advice of his family doctor and school teachers, he wasn't interacting with anyone who wasn't interested in what he was and it was starting to hurt him socially they thought.

At nine-and-a-half, Archer was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD after multiple visits to his psychiatrist. His parents thought it would make his life easier, but it did the opposite, for a long time it made Archer's life a lot worse. His teachers treated him differently in all the wrong ways, and soon too did his peers. Archer never felt more miserable and alone, even when he was eventually able to become friends with a few girls in his class who somewhat understood him well enough not to treat him like a retard. However, at this point, all the other boys were basically a lost cause for him after that too.

Archer continued to draw terrible hands one after the other, life away from home was absolutely miserable for him. Things didn't start to get better until the tables began to turn for him the day before he turned twelve years old. He enthusiastically called his parents into his bedroom, and showed them the final product of what he had built over the past few years. Archer's parents had been quite concerned about him recently, even thinking of changing schools and accepting his teachers advice to switch him into a special classroom "for kids like him".

When he showed them his magic crafting fantasy sandbox game "Rune Weaver" they were amazed, especially Archer's Dad. His dad helped him publish it on all the major online game markets and in a few months it rose to the top on every store, breaking record after record for most active users held by Craftminer for decades.

At twelve years old, Archer Bell made his first 10 million dollars.

It still wasn't enough, he couldn't scratch his itch even with Rune Weaver. He started planning out his next game which would be called "Infinity Skies" but soon came to a barrier, computing hardware. The current hardware wouldn't even be able to run his next game for at least twelve years and that was being generous.

It never once crossed his mind to stop, so he started learning about AI for optimizing performance and procedural generation, mainly for games. At this point people started to treat him better, he was getting important people around the globe reaching out to speak with him. He ignored them all until a special email from a large, innovative tech company owner, sent him an email detailing his own life story that Archer could relate to all too well, he finally found a pier with a similar obsession only his was to make the world a better place.

Despite a twenty year age gap, the two bonded deeply over their shared and individual passions. When Archer showed him the work he was doing with AI, he was immediately offered 50% ownership of the company with the promise to make his dream come true. At thirteen, Archer became the partial owner of a major tech conglomerate, him and his partner, Yorik, were on a path and mission to change the planet.

Archer's parents loved Yorik and his husband, they had never seen their son more alive than when the three were debating things they couldn't even begin to follow. Soon after they bought the homes side by side, they pulled Archer out of school at Yorik's husband Alexia's insistence he could home school him for half the day, and work together with Yorik the rest.

Alexia, as a major mind in the fields of theoretical quantum physics and neuroscience his parents put up little resistance before agreeing. Yorik taught Archer how being different like they were wasn't only a curse but also could be a blessing. For the first time in his life, Archer felt alive under the two men's mentorship.

At fourteen, he had left behind most major childhood rights of passage, but he was happy. He communicated and showed emotions his parents hadn't seen since he was a child, he wasn't afraid to be himself now.

Then at fifteen he finished developing a major AI infrastructure, and their company took control of the computing market. They built a large scale infrastructure to be able to handle the system. It was primarily sold as a service for scientific study simulations, and video game engines, but its ability far exceeded expectations.

At fifteen, Archer Bell made his first 100 billion dollars. It all still wasn't enough, money was only the means to his ends.

At seventeen, he used his AI to solve major complications with realizing functional fusion reactors. Thus solving the power factor of his dream. However, the impacts shook the world, Earth entered a golden age based on many of his breakthroughs in physics and engineering. People were able to start colonizing Mars and he was voted unanimously by world governments as the best neutral candidate to lead the project. He declined without a second thought, his dream was more important and he still hadn't done enough yet.

From there he took on solving the final two factors to the equation, raw computing power and interfacing directly with the human mind. Giving the most passionate speech of his entire life he convinced Yorik to reinvest every dollar they made into these two projects. So from eighteen to twenty-nine he worked on advancing quantum computing with Yorik and direct neuro-interfacing with Alexia.

They lived out of their offices and labs six days a week, tirelessly working. Finally, six months before Archer's thirtieth birthday they had nearly finished realizing his dream. Infinity Skies was almost ready to launch, so they set the public release date for the day before his birthday, updating their website to only list a location and a count down timer. After this, Archer told his two mentors and greatest friends, along with his parents, that he would be announcing his retirement too that day. Sure they were sad, but none of them for even a second thought to persuade him not too, they knew well his reasons and accepted that it was time to let him go, all great things must come to an end.

If the world knew why he'd done everything they might call him childish, say he was wasting his talent, that he should come up with a better motivation, or straight up not even believe everything great he did for the world was some unintentional side effect of his dream and labeling him an attention seek wearing a mask. However, he did not care in the slightest what others thought, nor did he plan to even tell them why. He thought, 'What have they ever done for me anyway?' He felt there was no reason at all to explain his actions ever thus far, and he didn't plan on starting now.

So they continued working as if nothing was different, enjoying most of the last project they all would work on together for the foreseeable future tying up all the loose ends. Their planned release date came quickly: Archer had been awake for thirty-nine hours straight, putting the finishing touches on Infinity Skies and the full-dive VR Headset, "Athena," as they had named just a few days prior. He wasn't nervous in the slightest, he was excited and quite reasonably exhausted, but this would be the last day of his old life.

He could not wait to relax in his home and spend everyday of remaining time on Earth in the world he dreamed of exploring new lands never seen, inventing and practicing new forms of magic and hybrid magic technology and much more. Since the world of Infinity Skies was theoretically endless and functioned twenty times faster than real-world time, he would have plenty of time to enjoy it. Through his play testing he knew everything was perfect.

Archer got up on stage when the countdown reached zero and unveiled the project, the footage he showed alone shocked everyone across the world everyone had stopped to watch. Before their very eyes was a world as real as their own mixed with magic and the elements of fantasy, a world where anything was possible that stretched out in every direction for ever. Tabloids across the world were already writing articles all tiled along the lines of: "Archer Bell Achieves Godhood Creating a Perfectly Real Fantasy World."

Finishing his speech as he announced his retirement, he shocked the world twice over silence struck again, followed by an applause that could be heard across the globe. Archer bowed and said his fair wells to the audience after he finished going through a list of personalized thanks to every major contributor to the project.

Turning to walk off stage he gave a huge smile to Yorik, Alexia, and his parents standing at the side, tears flowing in streams, and massive smiles across their faces. Exhausted he walked towards them he raised his arms wide ready to embrace them all in a hug, however that quickly changed as his smile faded away and he quickly hugged his chest instead.

After a flutter of stabbing pain in his chest, it felt as if a ball of molten lead was forming deep inside weighing him down more with every step. His vision grew hazy, the weight crushed him down on his knees, he tried to stand back up only to fall right back down. As the fiery pain worsened, he started so too did his senses, he could make out the terrified faces of those he loved. He saw them yelling but he only heard distant echoes.

He knew what was happening but was powerless, the light of the world grew dimmer by the second. He was angry but not at them, he said his last words to them knowing full well he would not hear a response. "I love al... all of y... you... you made... my every day feel special..." Followed by a long weak final breath and a smile across his face, thoughts flashing through his mind of all the memories he had with these four people, they were all he had. The world around him grew ever more distant with every moment that passed eventually fading into the void.

Archer Bell, a man who was a prisoner to his own dreams, died moments after achieving them before ever even getting to taste the fruits of his labor.

As he felt his mind fading away into the void, an angelic voice echoed out from every corner.

"Would you like to make a deal to experience a world greater than that which you've created?"

A window appeared with only two options:
-------------------------
- Yes
(Meet Abala the Succubus God and hear her offer out. You will have the option again to accept it after.)

- No
(Roll the dice of reincarnation. Abala may interfere.)
------------------------

Archer sacrificed his every chance at a normal life, time and time again he'd choose Infinity Skies over whatever it was. He never owned a pet, had a girlfriend, gone to any social gathering unless it was to further his work, he hadn't even spoken face to face with his parents in three months before the day they showed up for Infinity Skies release.

In his final moments he was full of plenty more regrets, he wished he could do it all again just a little slower. He didn't care if or what the catch was if it meant he could get another shot at life.

Without any delay he thought 'Yes' and the corresponding button flashed.

Even Abala herself was none the wiser that the deal she offered this mere mortal man ripe with desire, would result in the first mortal to rise to godhood in history.
