CARTER

He barely woke up when Allison slipped into his narrow bed beside him and whispered that all was well. He managed to wrap his arm around her despite being unable to use his midsection. She snuggled close, and then his mind drifted back into pleasant slumber until his alarm snapped him awake at 8:30 AM in the morning.

As he struggled through the grogginess of exiting sleep and found himself alone in bed, he frowned. Was Allison up already? He tested his middle and found he could sit up without pain, and if he could move without pain, that suggested she was here and ensuring the discomfort of the inflammation did not bother him. So incredibly thoughtful.

He slid his feet off the bed, then stood as an experiment. Everything worked, and he remained pain free. Allison’s mental hug was the best painkiller on the planet. He’d missed that comfort when she was at work today, but he still intended to drive her there.

He dressed in a comfortable T-shirt and jeans, brushed his teeth, and straightened his hair. It was nice to have someone to get ready for. When he walked out in the living room, he found both it and the kitchen empty. The bathroom as well.

Where was Allison? She didn’t seem to be anywhere in this apartment.

His eyes went to the front door. Just as he noticed it was unlocked, the door knob turned. A moment of apprehension gripped him before Allison stepped inside, wearing a dark and fuzzy sweater and tight jeans that looked great on her. New clothes? No. Given where she’d gone last night, she must have borrowed those clothes from Izzy.

Her hair remained in its short blonde bob. He wondered if she would change her hair back to dark again, and how she could explain how fast it had grown. Or would she go red once more? There were just so many possibilities.

Her eyes found his as she closed the door, locked it, and grinned wide. “You’re up!”

She hurried across the room, wrapped her arms around him, and drew him in for an exceedingly eager morning kiss. As Carter slid his hands around her waist and kissed her back, he decided this was how he wanted to wake up in the morning. Her sweater was just soft and fuzzy enough to make him want to run his hands all over it.

When they finally parted, she smiled up at him. “I did not think you would be awake yet. You seemed quite exhausted last night.” She smirked. “For good reason.”

“Alarm went off,” he explained... lamely. “And we need to get you to work, right?”

“Why would we do that?”

“Miss Ellen said she wanted you to work a full week before she’d take you on.”

Allison frowned. “That’s unnecessary. I will stay here and tend to your needs.” She eyed him as one hand slid across his chest and then lower. “All of your needs.”

He caught her hand before it could slide down further, then eased her a step away without letting her go. “You don’t need to do that. It’s just a little discomfort. I’ll take some painkillers and chill on the couch, and we actually need your job.”

He already knew he was taking the day off. He didn’t see how spending another day stressing his body would help anyone. Thanks to Rick, he had permission to take a day off, and it still felt odd to think about that guy and feel... a little grateful.

She tilted her head. “I do not feel comfortable leaving you alone today.”

“Why?” Carter asked. “Will the infection kill me?”

Her brow furrowed. “No.”

“Are my seals going to break? Is it going to be hard for me to feed myself?”

“No, and no, and I do not care,” Allison said firmly. “I must tend to you today.”

“Now who’s being overprotective?” He brushed a thumb down her cheek. “You need to work. I need to rest. So I’ll drop you off and pick you up, and after I pick you up, I’ll cook you some dinner.” He grinned. “Then, maybe I’ll bend you over the couch.”

She blinked rapidly. “I don’t like leaving you alone.”

“Having to work for money is, sadly, part of being a human down here.” Carter shrugged. “So what were you doing out this morning? Out for a jog?”

“I was familiarizing myself with our surroundings. Entry and exit routes, alternate routes for escape, roads and places we could temporarily hide. This location has more options than Briar Oak apartments. It is still not ideal, but I now have plans.”

She really was taking their partnership seriously. This apartment was officially her home now—their apartment—so of course she’d learn all she could about it. Carter considered taking another look around himself, but he doubted he’d be doing much walking around today. Not after he dropped off Allison.

“So tell me about last night,” he suggested. “You said it went well?”

She nodded confidently. “Skeeter, Izzy’s friend, will have your antibiotics by 8 pm.”

Carter snorted and shook his head. “Wonder if he’s from the south.”

“I do not believe it is his real name.”

He barely held back a chuckle. “Yeah, I think you’re right about that.”

“You will really be all right alone?”

He nodded. “You going in dressed like that?”

Allison glanced down at herself. “Is this not suitable for work?”

“I think that outfit looks great on you. I just wanted to know if you needed time to get fixed up before we go. We should probably go now if you’re going to help Miss Ellen open.”

“Yes.” Allison looked up. “I did promise that. However...” She raised one eyebrow. “We currently have twenty-four minutes before I need to arrive.”

“It’s a fifteen minute drive, and we should budget another five for morning traffic, so we really should get going.” Carter said. “You have breakfast yet? If not, I can pick you up something from the food court. I’ll drop it off before I leave.”

“I have already eaten cereal.” Allison moved close and pressed both hands flat against his chest. “However, now that you are awake and I will soon be gone, I require other nourishment.” She gazed up at him as she slid her hands over his chest.

Carter couldn’t help but grin at her unabashed horniness. He absolutely loved his mornings now, but they couldn’t her be late to her new job. “I don’t think we have time, honey. But tonight, we’ll have—”

She interrupted him with two fingers to his lips. “You may be underestimating just how I eager I am to please you.” She looked very serious. “I request five minutes.”

“Five... really?”

She dropped to her knees and immediately opened his pants, and then she yanked his boxers down. She gazed up at him with her gorgeous green eyes. “Do you doubt me?”

“I don’t— ” When her lips wrapped tightly around his cock and aggressively began sucking him off, Carter nearly lost his balance. Both her hands snapped up to brace either side of his waist. As he caught himself, amazed by her strength, she supported him easily.

Holy shit did that feel good.

This morning, Allison made no secret of the fact that she remained incredibly eager for his cum. As her tight lips coursed up and down his shaft and her quiet slurps drove him to distraction, he groaned and surrendered. He almost missed her fingers rising to his balls. Until they did, at which point the way she gently tugged and teased made it difficult to stand.

The suction her lips offered was almost overwhelming, and while her mouth slid repeatedly to his tip, he never, ever popped out. Her fingertips pressed against the base of his balls and began to apply steady pressure. That did almost take him to his knees.

He caught himself with a hand on the top of the couch. He groaned as she cupped his balls with her palm, eagerly bobbed her head up and down on his cock, and slid her fingertips firmly and repeatedly along the incredibly sensitive spot just behind his sack.

“Holy shit.” He trembled. “Holy shit, Allie, that feels great.” Soon after, he gasped as his body spasmed from his balls to the top of his spine. “Holy shit, holy shit!

Carter came so hard he almost lost his balance, but once again, one of Allison’s surprisingly strong arms caught his hip and pushed him against the couch. That braced him as she took everything he gave her and her thighs trembled with her own orgasm. The orgasm swallowing his cum was giving her.

When her fingers pushing on him, he climaxed so hard he worried he’d hurt something...  but Allison would never hurt him. The pressure against his base ended just before he couldn’t stand it any longer—she was definitely in his mind—and then he leaned against the couch, gasping for breath as his thighs trembled.

He’d never felt anything like that. He’d definitely underestimated her this morning, and he couldn’t be more happy he had.

While she let his now tender balls alone, Allison continued gently working him with her mouth until she had acquired everything she’d earned, including the aftershocks. Only then did she release him. She rose, daintily wiped her lips, and glanced at the kitchen clock.

“Two minutes, forty-two seconds.” Her proud gaze returned to his. “I can do better, but this was a good start.”

Carter finally allowed himself to sit down on the floor with his back to the couch, grateful once more her mental powers kept him from feeling any of the pain his stomach. At that moment, he felt like the luckiest man in all of Pennsylvania. He most likely was.

Allison crouched at his side and eyed him hopefully. “I hope that was not too rough?”

“No.” Carter grinned. “That was just right.” He took a moment to focus. “Where in the hell did you learn to do that?”

“I know everything there is to know about human anatomy,” she reminded him playfully. “I have carefully considered every way I can make you cum. I simply preferred to allow you to leisurely enjoy your previous blowjobs.”

“Well, I sure enjoyed this one. Goddamn, Allie, I don’t think I’ve ever orgasmed that hard.”

She grinned and offered a hand to help him up. “Next time, you may choose. Fast and hard, or gentle and slow, or anywhere in between. So long as it pleases you, I enjoy it all.”

He accepted her hand and got to his feet, and only then remembered his pants were still down around his ankles. Could he bend over without hurting his stomach?

Allison once again dropped to her knees, but this time, it was help him pull his pants back up. She rose as his pants did and stood close as she helped him button up, then looked up and kissed him hard on the lips. She was frisky this morning.

Carter definitely liked her this way. Sweet and submissive Allison was always an incredible turn on, but forceful and assertive Allison was just as hot. And dammit, he really did have to get her to work. He couldn’t just keep kissing her like this.

He regretfully pushed her away and grinned. “We need to go.”

“I know,” she said mournfully. “I will think about you today.”

“Want me to come by for lunch?”

She perked up. “That is a wonderful idea! I get my break at 12:30 PM.” Only then did she hesitate. “But shouldn’t you rest?”

“I will,” he promised. “I’ll take it easy all day. But I can get up and down the stairs, and I can drive, and I’d like to have lunch with you.”

“And ice cream,” she reminded him.

Carter laughed. “Sure. But you need to eat some real food first. That human body needs more protein than you’re getting now.”

“I have already acquired protein.” Allison sighed. “But pizza is also good.”

He walked her out to the car and winced when she opened the door before he unlocked it. His passenger door lock was still busted from the night she opened his door so hard she almost ripped it off the car, and he wasn’t sure when he could get that fixed or how much it would cost. Still, he didn’t blame her one bit. She’d been saving him from a stab wound.

Once they were on the road, Carter tapped the radio. He had it on an old rock station that didn’t play too many commercials, and it then occurred to him he had no idea what type of music Allison liked. “Hey, here’s a question for you.” He kept his eyes on the road.

“Yes?” Allison asked.

“I feel like I already know so much about you. About your past and how you got here, and your favorite ice cream. But there’s so much other stuff I don’t know.”

“What would you like to know?”

“You like music?”

She went silent as she considered. “Some.”

“Earth music? Or something else?”

“A bit of everything,” she admitted. “I am particularly fond of the mourning ballads of Galarian females. There is a somber beauty to their intertwined vocalizations, one that both accepts one’s sorrow and also reminds one of the joyful times had.”

“Huh.” That was definitely the most alien thing she’d said in awhile, but it was also absolutely fascinating. “Do you think I could hear that some day?”

“You could!” Allison said brightly. “I actually have an archive in my ship.”

Carter kept his eyes on the road as what she’d just said casually slammed into him. “You actually have your own spaceship?”

He’d assumed, like an idiot, that she had arrived here by sneaking into the back of some interstellar freighter. The equivalent of hiding in the back of a moving truck as she drove across state lines. Why had he just assumed that?

“I do, and it is well hidden,” she said proudly. “I doubt the Tharons can find it.”

“Oh,” he agreed. “Well, that’s good.”

Her hand rested on his thigh. “Would you like to see it?”

“I would.” Carter kept his hands on the wheel. “God, would I. But it’s probably better not to risk traveling to wherever it is. I imagine we’d have a pretty decent drive?”

“We would also need to travel on foot a ways. But I will show you my spaceship if you wish to see it. You are my partner. I trust you with everything I have.”

As she spoke, her fingers continued to rest on his thigh. At least she knew better than to break his concentration, though... he almost wished she would. And then, he’d bet money she knew that. He smiled as he pulled onto the interstate.

“I don’t think my curiosity is worth the risk. I’d love to see it someday, but for now, let’s focus on getting us both through the week and working on our rescue plan for your sister.”

Allison gave his thigh a squeeze. “That is a reasonable goal.”
