I feel my consciousness return to my body before being suddenly woken up by a sharp pain throughout my body. Since my arms are mushy, I put the healing potion in my inventory without putting a plug on it, so I just had to make it appear on the ground and take it with my teeth before turning around to swallow it.

The moment I swallowed the potion, an almost burning heat sensation ran through my body and my whole body began to regenerate making me a little reminiscent of the troll. And a few seconds my body was like new and apart from the traces of blood on my clothes there was no trace of my subsequent condition.

With a thought the armor that was in my inventory ended up on my body above my torn clothes. It was a light armor made of monster leather but enchanted in such a way as to withstand shocks and given the way the Troll fights, it was the best choice against him.

I got up and saw Claude fighting the troll as Erik shoots what appears to be his last arrow, which obviously causes almost no damage to the troll. Without waiting, I quickly head to the 4 who are on the ground and make them drink the potions I bought, while praying that Claude and Erik can last a little longer.

I see their wounds recover but much slower than in my case, showing the difference in quality between the potions. But it's enough to keep them out of harm's way. The most urgent being resolved, I take out my newly acquired sword and smear it with poison.

I rush in the direction of the troll. According to my observations, the troll decided to focus on a single target, probably after suffering considerable damage as a result of our strategy that forced him to pay attention to several people at once finally to destabilize him. But he had to realize that our attacks are not a threat to him, and decided to ignore them to focus on one person.

And that's why I was able to get so close and throw him what is going to be his worst nightmare. One of the things that can counter the regeneration of a troll, aside from poison and fire, is acid. And there I threw acid at him which is worth 500 SSPs. I don't know how powerful this acid is but for such a price I hope it was worth it.

I finally aimed at his back to be sure not to miss him since his head is constantly moving. The bottle of the potion flies to the back of the troll and breaks on impact before the contents spread on the troll, and he emits a cry so powerful that the whole forest was shaken.

All the places that the acid touched, were eaten away by it. His back had almost no skin and even the muscles began to melt before the effect of the acid slowed down. I must admit that this acid is much stronger than I think. Of course, acid is one of the weak points of a troll but seeing the skin and part of the muscles evaporate in an instant can only impress me.

The troll turns in my direction and starts rushing towards me. I finally run away from my friends, to another clearing. When the troll arrives in the clearing, I break the smoke potion against a tree trunk near me.

Immediately I activate the thermal vision and the things around me each take a color according to their temperature. Even if the skill has a short range, it's enough to spot the troll who is disoriented because of the smoke.

I slowly bypass the troll and use my sword to leave a gash in his back, before retreating. He turns around and swings his arms in all directions but since he can't see me, he doesn't know where to look. The most extraordinary thing about the skills, what I know how to use it, without needing to learn it, which allows me to use this thermal vision as if I always have (even if it is difficult to get used to it).

I know that, with my current strength, I don't stand a chance against the troll. That's why I bet everything on speed and poison. Given the feat of acid rather, I expect a lot from the poison on my blade.

I throw myself towards him again and this time I hurt his thigh. Slowly the wounds multiply. The back, left arm, stomach, etc. I made one assault and the troll tried to get out of the smoke several times. But between the smoke that seems to cover the entire forest and the assaults that intensify at the slightest sign of escape, the troll seemed to abandon this idea as he became weaker and weaker showing that the poison was working.

Not wanting to waste time, I launched myself towards the troll and halfway I stopped and turned around. I felt my instincts screaming at me not to approach.

And that's when I realize something is wrong. I turn off my thermal vision and see what's bothering me. The smoke is starting to clear and if I had run into the troll, he would have seen me before I reached him.

When I activate thermal vision, it is superimposed on my ordinary vision. But probably because of its low level and because I have not yet become familiar with the skill, I am only able to focus on either normal or thermal vision.

I find myself at an impasse. If I try to attack, the troll may spot me and, I'm sure, won't let me escape again. But if I hear without doing anything, the troll will be able to get rid of the poison that afflicts him at that moment.

The regeneration of a troll is something not to be overlooked. Even the damage caused by the acid earlier, is no longer visible. Seeing this troll now, no one will be able to imagine that he has already taken so much damage. No trace of wounds is visible on his skin and I know that his body is removing the poison and soon he will be back on his feet.

The advantage is that by inflicting damage, its regeneration gradually runs out. Given the time he has taken to regenerate the wounds that the acid has caused, and the time he takes to get rid of the poison, I feel that I am on the right track. I have used my sword so much that there is no poison left on my blade.

But it is not enough. I have to find a way to deal him a big blow finally to make him lose his regeneration permanently. Eventually, the smoke clears and the troll, who is obviously no longer affected by the poison, looks at me with bloodshot eyes.

I can see that just like me, he too is tired of this fight. He rushes towards me with all his might, and suddenly falls before catching fire. Behind the troll lying on the ground, I can see my friends waving at me.

I quickly bypass the troll, and head towards them. They seem to have fully recovered. I look in the direction of Alexander, our mage.

"I would have liked to take care of it on my own but it was beyond my strength. So thank you for getting there in time."

"No need to thank me, we are a team after all. And that was your plan..."

I nod quickly, being a little embarrassed by the admiration of his eyes. I wasn't totally sure I could beat the troll, even with all my preparations. That's why I bought a mana potion for Alexander instead of a healing potion. Anyway, since he stayed hidden, he was not hurt but was just out of mana.

After healing myself and the other 4 who were on the ground, I gave the remaining 3 potions to Erik, and briefly explained my plan.

"You talk about a plan, you just showed me a potion by telling me data to Alexander and you left right after you said to attack when the smoke starts to clear."

"You had just revealed yourself and suddenly you start running around, for no reason. For a moment, I wondered if you were possessed by a ghost or something like that, so strange were your actions. And besides, where did you get all these potions. »

While Erik talks about his frustrations which, I must admit, are justified, Claude interrupts us abruptly.

"We'll talk about that later. But right now we have another problem. The troll is still alive. »

As the fire goes out, the smoke disperses and reveals a charred body. But even in this state, we can see his body recover at a much slower rate than before but still visible, until he has fully recovered. The troll tries to get up several times during its regeneration but does not succeed.

The regeneration of a troll consumes his stamina to heal him and the troll can not even get up because he is exhausted. By the time he finished regenerating, he couldn't even move a finger.

And without waiting, I stabbed him with my sword and that was the end. Just like that, the troll who caused us so much trouble died just like that. Of course I'm relieved but it's a bit bland as an end.

And to confirm the death of the troll, a screen of the system appears in front of me:

You and your party killed a level 15 troll.

You have received twenty thousand experience points.

Your experience points have been converted to SSP.

You are left with a debt of three thousand SSPs.
