It was theatre time! Unlike the other classes though, we had picked out one of my most favourite plays of all time.

Standing in front of the majestic stone building, I was basically babbling the whole time to Lucy while she tried to calm me down as much as she could.

But we would be watching ‘The journey of two souls’ which was just a masterpiece. Walking into the building, I could hear “Ohh” and “Ahh” many time from my fellow classmates which was to be expected. It wasn’t the largest theatre I had ever seen, but it certainly ranked amongst the top.

And the best of all was that we had seats in the very front, even though some of the other nobles complained they didn’t get any box seats.

And as the play finally started, I couldn’t help but to hold my breath a little as they had incorporated magic into their acting.

“Four hundred years ago in the elven forest, there lived two twins …” And these twins did everything together. They grew up to be healthy teenagers and studied ancient magic under different masters. One of them studied the arts of light, which allowed him to greet anyone with kindness. His brother studied the ways of darkness and supported his brother from the shadows.

They were so close together that they finished their studies at the same time, and both agreed that they needed to help others as much as they could. They were filled with passion and saved a princess from certain doom, a traveller from sickness and eventually, saved an island from being swallowed by the sea.

They were wildly known across all lands but that also had its disadvantages. More and more, they met with envy where ever they went and at some point, the trusting brother fell for a trap which ended his life in front of the other brother who studied the ways of darkness.

He had saved so many during his life, but he couldn’t save the one person he cared about the most from their demise … or could he?

He knew even the most despicable magics of all and decided to give his everything from his beloved brother.

He used necromancy to capture his brothers fleeing soul, and transferred it into himself, taking it up in him and reviving it.

Through sheer luck, or possibly their combined capabilities, both lived on with one body and a separate soul for several years.

During that time, they continued to save many more, as they were somehow capable of using their own magics with only one body. They were simply unbeatable. Light and darkness working together was something that should never exist in one person, but these two had tricked fate … at least until it reached them again.

Their health began to deteriorate, their feelings spiralled out of control, and in the end, their body gave way to the passage of time in the arms of the princess they both rescued, and both loved.

Even though the summary sounded like a tragedy, it really wasn’t. They both lived a fulfilling life, reached their goals and died peacefully at a rather old age. It was … a beautiful story.

Someone to my right though didn’t seem that interested in it, but was deep in her own thoughts. Well, Lucy was never a fan of fantasy books or fables as she was more fascinated by books about magic or other sciences. She chose to stay as close to the truth at all times which was what I usually did as well. But sometimes, I just loved to dream about being someone different and thought about how it must had been to be one of the heroes of tales.

“On what is this based?” Lucy asked right after we were let outside.

“On a book.” Wasn’t that much obvious? It was close to my most favourite fantasy book after all.

“And the book? Is it founded in reality, or is it purely fantasy?” Why was she asking such a question? She should have known I had no answer to her question. In the fist place, the existence of a soul itself was purely fantasy, so why should this play be founded in reality? “Never mind.” She must have realised I struggled to find any answer that didn’t portray her as completely out of touch with reality.

Luckily, she didn’t bring it up during our wax back to the hotel but rather discussed the prank that was pulled on Ellie and Louis with me and a few other friends. Well, it was obviously quite mean to do such a thing in the first place, but that they both freaked out over something this obvious was quite hilarious.

Well, at least these two took it rather well and didn’t complain about our constant teasing which didn’t stop until lunchtime.

After that though, our minds were occupied by something else once more as the second part of the day was about to begin. And completely unexpected, class 1 B decided it was necessary to investigate marine life after the cultural investigation at the theatre.

Once again, we were back at the beach a little bit later, but this time we weren’t alone. Another class was with us and sadly, it was Schwarz’s. I had nothing against him … but I didn’t understand how Lucy could stay friends with him. At least they were already in the water, fooling around just like we did yesterday.

Their teacher also stayed behind to keep watch of their meagre belonging and rested on a sun lounge. After confirming we could put our things there as well, we quickly dumped everything and ran over the beach towards the lake happily, joining up with the others or avoiding a certain someone who swam around alone.

Lucy stayed behind once again, but quickly joined an all boys team to play beach volleyball while her sister probably remained with the other teacher.

“Hey, Luna! Over here! Come quickly!” I heard Ellie shout a few metres away and swam over towards her right away. As usual, Louis was around and pointed at his face which didn’t look that unusual. As he sunk a little deeper though, I could see how the water made place for a bubble of air around his head and I blinked a few times, completely amazed by his magic.

“Want to dive a little?” He asked and pointed downwards.

“Obviously!” I exclaimed, already imagining how it might look under us.

“Okay … a thumbs up means we need to swim up again and a circle means everything is alright. We won’t be able to communicate much under water with this, except when we stick our heads together. And don’t go deeper than a few metres.” Obviously I wouldn’t. It was kind of scary to know that a single magic helped me to breathe underwater and I didn’t even want to imagine what would happen if it was dispelled through some unfortunate development.

Nodding eagerly, I waited for him to mumble his spell and quickly breathed out. I sunk downwards immediately and the water parted just beneath my chin, allowing me to dive freely without any issues.

It was amazing to see the water surface close up above me once more and still be able to see, and to breathe freely. The water was crystal clear, allowing me to see deep into the lake where so much fish swam undisturbed. The sun shone beautifully through the slightly moving water surface, breaking in some places, creating a breathtaking spectacle for me and the other two to see. It was such an amazing time.

I could see the different fish and sometimes, I also saw kelp at the bottom of the lake. It was the best view I ever hand and enjoyed it for several minutes until Louis gave us the sign to go up.

“That was so amazing!” I exclaimed, and would have hugged him right away if we weren’t in water.

“I know, right? It’s hard to keep it up though depending on the amount of bubbles I need to create.” He said smiled wryly. Truly, he should value himself as a mage a little bit more because that was just a brilliant way of using the tools he had.

“Can we do it again?” I asked in anticipation.

“Maybe tomorrow … I … we want to ask you a question.” He said and turned rather sour quickly.

“Sure. Go ahead.” I didn’t know what caused this change in his demeanour at all, but he seemed rather unsure all of a sudden.

“You are closer to Lucy than anyone else and I wanted to know … we wanted to know how she would react. Imagine a situation where she would need to fight against a friend of hers to do the right thing … would she do it?” What was that for a question? If I did anything bad, I wished she would stop me right away and I had no doubts she would do so.

“She would. Why are you asking?” I said, wondering why they went to such lengths to get to hear what they should already know.

“To be frank, she is the personification of a teaching book about ethics … which does annoy me sometimes, but we both agreed that it would be the right thing to follow her example in this scenario.” Ellie explained unhappily for whatever reason.

“… and why not ask her directly?” I asked confused. Wouldn’t it make more sense to ask Lucy directly?

“Because I never want to admit that in front of her.” She really didn’t want to praise Lucy in any way, even though Lucy was such an amazing person.

Someone, I really needed to talk to right away to tell her about the amazing view I had underwater. As promised, I would tell her about every interesting and funny part I experienced while we were separated. I would take her with me on my little swimming adventures and share the happiness I felt during that time with her. Because she wasn’t able to come with me … and friends shared these things.
